Anime Inspired RPGs. More times than not I'm pleasantly surprised, however sometimes.... Ugh...

Yes I am a JRPG fan. Have fun Flamers ;)

I was doing some random shopping with my girlfriend today when I noticed the new Harry Potter game was out.

At first I thought to myself, "I bet it will be the same old HP game - linear gameplay with clunky and unresponsive controls. I don't need to buy it"

So we moved on from the store and continued our shopping...

1 hour later, with Harry Potter fever reaching its pitch in my head, I rushed back to the store and purchased the game.

I KNEW it was going to be EXACTLY the same as all the other ones I have sitting on my shelf... Just as I knew it when I bought the last HP game. I get home and start playing, only to find that, if anything, it's actually worse. It seems I will never learn.

To the topic at hand, it made me wonder if I could be the only one with such a weakness. I reasoned I probably am the only one for HP games, but what about others?

Whats your gaming weakness?
RPGs and those multiplayer FPSs in the style of the Battlefield games. I downloaded the demo for that Section 8 game earlier on XBL, ironically after thinking just yesterday I needed another game like that. Suffice to say, it's sunk its claws in and I'll probably be buying.

Quirky games in a series--If I like the first installments, then I'll check out the next parts no matter how they're rated.

Any horror game that screws with my mind, I once found myself avoiding homeless people after condemned, also I stop wanting to go into outer space after my Doom 3 adventure. But I have a weakness to horror games, or anything with a level editor.

Anything that says "Bethesda" on the box, or that starts with "The Legend of Zelda".
Except Wet.
Im excited for Wet. Loved the demo, deffinately gonna give it a rent.
If it's like the demo the whole way through, which it will be... enjoy. I won't be even hiring this one.
But, hey I don't like Dissidia: Final Fantasy either, so apparently I have no soul.

Silent Hill. Actually, "horror" games in general. The only problem is the last great, and actually scary horror game that I know of, is Silent Hill 2, and yet I still continue to waste money on games claiming to be scary. It really is the worst with SH though, that series died out with the third game, but I still own everything related to the series. :( Except the movie, of course, that would really be hitting rock-bottom..

Any city-builder or historical trade sim, no matter how mediocre, I always buy them and always end up going back to Patrician 3 and Tropico/SimCity 4 because they're better examples of the genre.
ever try settlers of catan or carcassonne? their board games that have been adapted on the xbox live arcade, you might want to try them out
I've played Settlers of Catan (the board game) with friends, but I no longer play because the friends in question had a couple of babies and are now, as all parents, reduced to intellectual mush and usually covered in drool and baby puke. Cryin' shame, and a hell of an argument in favor of a vasectomy.

Never played Carcassonne, but that probably has more to do with me not owning an XBox (PC-only here) than with disinterest in the game itself.

I love the simulation genre (not for nothing did I choose my username), I just wish there were more good titles in it.

ask them some time, idk about you but every couple of weeks you can find some gaming night, and everyone who attends has kids, young and old. catan is the most popular, although you can efforlessly start a carcassone game, check it out

If anything has the words "Bethesda", "Atlus", or "Mech" on the box, I want it.

Any action game that gives the player teammates wins me over immediately no matter how much it sucks.

The Need for Speed franchise. The games progressively get worse, but I always seem to buy them. With the new games that are coming out I know that it'll be the same old dribble. They'll just add more cars, and it'll have a slightly different story, but I'll still end up buying/playing them.
Same here. I haven't played it yet, but I bought it anyway.
