Beat-em-up, Space combat, and Point-and-click-style Adventure games...

Basically, all of the seriously suffering genres that I love.

Platformers. There's barely any left, save for those shitty kid movie tie-ins.

The power-up mechanic in Lego Racers 1.

It was incredible, I can't believe no one else has even come close to copying it :O
I remember that one. I loved how if you leveled up the speed boost fully it turned into a full blown teleportation wormhole. Fun times, fun times.

A big vote for me would be games that have color and don't try to feature REALISM or Space Marines. In other words,I would like to preserve creativity

Spaceflight combat sims in the tradition of Rouge Squadron and X-Wing Alliance. Although I fear at this point they are actually extinct.

The Fighter, especially the 2D fighter. They have some of the most beautiful, colorful games in that genre, and the very best have deep mechanics to match. Stuff like VF4:Evo's adventure mode and the tutorial system, and GGXX's Mission and Story modes are great fun and I would love to see them applied to different games and maybe even different genres, too.

I can't tell if that's sincere or not because I can't remember the game that well, but if you have the sheer audacity to mock the single greatest game to ever grace the PC, save Lego Rock Raiders, I will end you so fast you won't have time to blink.

OT: Static health kits, i.e. healing stations mounted on the wall. The last time I saw that was I believe in Half Life 2, and even then they weren't exactly prevalent.

Space Combat Sims. X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing VS TIE Fighter, basically every one from Lucasarts...okay maybe not Rebel Assault.

rpgs like secret of mana and chorono trigger the artwork tricks that they would come up with to represent things in them made me smile so much , I would like to see one made with the help of modern graphical and memory capabilities.

No sarcasm, I bloody love that game, it's my favourite racing game of all time :D damn Rocket Racer...

(if you look through the thread, you'll see I've written a paragraph on why it's so good)

And you played Rock Raiders too? Awesome!
Eeyup. Damn Rocket Racer.

Wait, I remember it now, to an extent! There were bricks at various positions, and you collected them to get boosts, but when you got three and you used them at a special point, you could go into the warp zone and get a big jump ahead! I think. There was definitely a big blue portal that sent you really far forwards.

Also, Lego Racers 2 -
The Rocket Racer was your character from the last game!
I was bloody well scandalised.

Also, I never actually finished Rock Raiders. I got to the second last level, but I could never beat it.

Halo: Reach had exactly that: Health kits mounted on walls.

Massive open worlds with shit to explore in. Like A fair few of the Elder Scroll games and Just Cause 2. Too many take place in smallish cities or large open areas with nothing to do but look at the disturbingly beautiful scenery (Red Dead).
