The NES castlevania games are probably some of the hardest games I have ever played.

I love me a challenge.

Well, I've played Crystal Quest. Screw your 50+ extra lives, the difficulty increases exponentially and no one gets past level 70. Not in the original version, anyway.

More recently, I got killed about 40 times in Darkest of Days trying to sequence break on the highest difficulty. I had to get 5 headshots on 5 snipers before any of them could shoot me.

Also, I've played through Left 4 Dead on Expert, which is very, very hard. If you treat it as if you're playing on Normal or Advanced, expect to die within a minute.

Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. It's the only game that made me scream at the tv in frustration. Am I embarrassed? Yep.

Gran Turosmo 3. One of the final Super licences where you drove a Toyota GT1 around Monte Carlo. Its been a good 5 years since I played that game and can still remember the pain.

I tried to play the NES version of Dragons Lair. It ended up with me breaking the cartridge up with a sledgehammer and lighting it on fire.

Combine it with raw sewage and you have the most loathed of all levels, the sewer level.

Not really. Not for me. The water level you stated I hate so much, but also any Mario level sans (without) fire flower power up. Grrr.

Call of duty 4 on veteran mode the level right before the nuke where you need to rescue a squad and later rescue a cobra pilot (but they all die).

Yeah, being Mario without a power up is kinda like being MacGuyver in an empty room.

General RAAM from Gears of War killed me so very many times. I felled that asshole in the end though.

Some of the Mirror's Edge speedruns were agonising, as well. But I beat them all too.

There's a sequence in Iron Storm where a powered armor German soldier is just waiting for you turn a corner, so you have to cook and throw a grenade. I didn't find that out for a couple months after I'd already given up on the game.
