AaAaAA!!! A Reckless Disregard for Gravity [http://store.steampowered.com/app/15520/]

It's a game about jumping off of floating skyscrapers to get broken teeth and either give thumbs up to your fans or flip the bird at your protestors. It's a hilarious combination of ridiculousness and fun.

Wild Arms 3(PS2): The series it self has always kind of sat in the shadows of bigger JRPGs like Final Fantasy and it's a shame as the battle system does a nice job of trying new things,if a bit clumsily . Then Wild Arms 3 comes around and tightens the core mechanics. The system that avoids battle is balanced so you can't avoid 90% of battles, the method to locate new areas is a little less frustrating and the degree of customization was made less obtusive and not and you could modify characters as much as you wanted instead of WA2's fixed system. The series has always been going for a desert wasteland feel but never achieved it till WA3, the world was barren, berries(the games healing items) were scarce becasue it was hard to grow food, there were seas of sand in place of water. Finally The story is actually enjoyable but the characters are were this game really shines, the 4 leads have awesome character arcs and feel like a group of friends.

Bastion, although it's a little more well known.

Mount and Blade tends to be under appreciated as well.

Fully agree with you there.

OT, I personally think that the Resident Evil Outbreak games are quite under-rated, especially since it's the last form of classic Resident Evil gameplay.
But if you play them, you'd better be a patient individual, because the loading times are quite long.

Age of Empires, Warcraft and StarCraft have nothing on this.

Note: The video doesn't do the game any justice, but then, the few videos of the game on Youtube are all garbage.

Are the Hitman games well known? I love them and they're some of the most replayable games around. They really let you tackle each mission however the hell you want to.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and Arx Fatalis (both by the same developer, Arkane Studios), quickly became two of my favourite RPGs this year. I absolutely loved the first-person combat system in Dark Messiah, and Arx Fatalis was a wonderfully atmospheric first person dungeon crawl.

Also worthy of a mention is Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a downloadable Tomb Raider game from 2010. They may have dropped "Tomb Raider" from its title, but it's got its share of tomb raiding, as well as puzzles, platforming, and twin-stick shooter style combat.

I do love the hitman games.

Yeah... that game is cool, but I like this one better:

I remember playing this game as a kid. This and Ascendancy taught me a lot of English as a kid. Dang... now I want to replay them. >-<

[EDIT] As for a hidden gem, I'd recommend trying out Silent Storm if you're into turn based strategy. I don't know about you guys, but that game was pretty much invisible where I'm from when it came out.

Id have to vote for Digimon World 1 on the play station
i loved that game, and personally found it to be a better creature raising game than the pokemon games.

God Hand, you can download it off of PSN now, if you have a PS3.

And Okami, which you can probably hunt off of Amazon.

Oh and Serious Sam HD Double Pack [http://store.steampowered.com/sub/4507/], currently 90% off on Steam.

Is Viewtiful Joe obscure enough to count? Because it really was brilliant and deserved more success than it got.

A better choice would be Mario Tennis for GBC. It had surprisingly little to do with Mario, and was instead primarily just an RPG where you play as a young student just arriving at a tennis academy and play your way onto the traveling team. It had terrific mechanics and is almost definitely the best tennis game ever. It's certainly my favourite sports game.

When i saw a thread about hidden jewelry i envisioned something else :p

Anyway my "hidden" gem would have to be Alpha Centauri, and while i think Civ 4 is a much better game, AC will always have a special place in my heart.

I second this, the games might not have a high budget, hell you can clip through a lot of stuff, but I don't think I have ever had as much unexpected fun as I have with these games

Majesty and, to a lesser extent, Majesty 2

A unique twist on the RTS genre. They can be a bit aggravating at times, but I had loads of fun.

I'd have to say Croc: Legend Of The Gobbos for the PC and it's imaginatively-named sequel, Croc 2. Sometimes, I think that me and my friends are the only damn people on the planet who know that game exists.

It's good to see another person giving EDF some much deserved love.

Such a shame the fanbase is so small, it's a wonderful game.

OT: Hidden Jems?

I don't have many, but Fat Pricess is a good knock-off of TF2.

Also, Brutal Legend was pretty awesome. Even after discovering the online servers are no longer working for the PS3 version, I still have some good runs with the A.I. bots.

It's one of those games that you can just pop in when a friend comes over and have hours of fun just annihilating waves of baddies.... and then the big ones come out... and it gets even funner. That's right, funner.

This is one of my favourite games ever made. I also played The Wonderful End Of The World and when I eventually get money I'll buy Drop That Beat (Like An Ugly Baby)

But a few games people I know generally haven't heard of is the psychedelic game Nanotek Warrior, Tombi.
And Perimeter, a PC RTS in which you build a energy-field (or something like that) to stop the manifestations of nightmares attacking your ship of stranded people.

Retro...

modern...

Two of my favorite games of all time, virtually no one knows about them.
I'm glad my nephew let the resonance cascade happen, this world disappoints me.
