Huh? How come I'm always the last to know that my house is on fire?

Anyway, I'd just make sure all my living assets (family and cat included) got out alive and unharmed. It would be painful to watch it all burn, but I like to think that I'm not as materialistic as I might be

my wallet, my car keys, my xbox 360, my xbox 360 games, my phone, my laptop, some clothes, and a knife so that i can finally kill our F***ing dog and blame it on the fire.

So why wouldn't you just leave your dog in there and then the fire would actually be responsible?

Because our dog isn't exactly stupid. He's smart enough to lock himself in the bathroom when the weather gets bad. i.e. tornados so I have to take a knife.
