In online gaming we come across alot of people. Sometimes you just view them as an enemy, other times you just want to help out.

So what was the nicest thing you ever did for someone in an online game?

My own would be in Everquest, when farming skeletons in paineel, I had a noob erudite necro come up to me and ask for some help as he was new to the game. I said sure.. youll need to open the donate box by targeting me and typing /d for donate.. to which he did. I immediately accepted and stood up right in his face eye to eye Preparing for the duel he unwittingly had just accepted. He quickly responded "uhh.. wait" to which my response was "Thats the best thing I can give you. In this game, you dont expect charity, Hone your skills, work for what you get and If your going to play as evil, you better expect evil" thus giving him the best lesson every noob in any game should learn. I still talk to that guy about once a month or so, 8 years after meeting.

(ok, perhaps not the best example of kindness, but hey, I set the bar fairly low, im sure you guys can do better.

For me, it's the fact that I'm a team player in Left 4 Dead. The first one. Since I beat all campaigns on expert difficulty, I'd go in to matches with people who hadn't beat them and help them out. Showing them glitches, healing them when everyone else was too selfish to do so, showing them spawn points for special infected, hiding spots for hordes. Stuff like that.

On halo 3 my friend was about to get ran through with the plasma sword.

I fired a sniper through my friends back killing the guy with the sword and getting a bulltrue.
And my friend didn't even die as he had full shields.

I just generally try to help out where I can on WoW, teaming up with people to do quests and sticking around after if they need help with anything else. In Alien Swarm, I'm also usually forced into the medic position, though they usually make a mess of protecting me as I usually go down first.

I always help other players in MMOs and L4D (I don't play other online shooters) but maybe that's just to make me feel better about myself. I guess kindest would be letting low RRs Eldritch and other casters go free while playing my Shadowblade in DAoC since respawning in that game took forever and they wouldn't be able to put any kind of resistance.

I never kill anyone if I can escape it. As Yahtzee says: A truly skilled infiltrator dont have to kill.

It is fun not to kill, it makes games more challenging, so if I dont have to I dont.

This goes for games like Hitman, Thief, Sly Cooper, Metal Gear.

I have never killed the Adoring Fan. And then saved.

I mean, accident's happen when you use fireballs with 30-40 radius...So I have. But not on purpose.

I gave random player orbs in the starting area of Fable 2 decent sums of cash. Nothing like 1,000,000. But something level appropriate. Maybe 5-10,000. And the occasional experience potion, too. Helping out new players made me all tingly.

Mine might be this time in WoW. I can't remember the specifics, but I was in Hellfire Peninsula[footnote]I think.[/footnote] on my paladin, maybe he was level 80 and I had gone back to level my mining skill, I can't recall. Anyway, I was running somewhere, and come across a Horde member doing an escort quest, and since I'm Alliance, the mob he was escorting went ahead and attacked me. It was clear to both of us that I'd win a fight, so the Hordie just stood there looking at me, not sure what to do. So I hit him once and did some emote to let him know to kill me. He thanked me and went about his business, which involved killing me.

I figured that since I hate people messing up my escort quests so much, no way I'll do that to anyone.

At the end of my WoW craze, I was so burned out on the game. I had many, many friends who were struggling. Eventually I decided to give up, but I thought about everyone I had met, who was desperately trying to make it on my server. My last raid was TOTGC IIRC, and I was lucky enough to win all the trophies. A few friends who I invited along really needed certain tier 9 pieces and were very...well, they just couldn't get good enough to get into normal groups. You know how that is, where you aren't good enough by peoples gearscore standards or this or that, all that dumb stuff.

What I did was I gave 2 people all of those trophies, then I gave at least 30 or so newbies on my list 100-300 gold, items, and everything else I could spare. I went on a huge helping spree, running people through instances and helping them with quests. For about a month I did this, and had my last great moments with the game. It felt very good, to give back like that. At the end though, I had to say my goodbyes, and I told everyone to never forget. You can still help people and have fun with the game, you just need to find the right people to make that connection with. ♥
Great story. It's cool of you to donate your gold and items and such before leaving WOW. My own kindest moments would be anything I did to gain positive Karma in Fallout 3.

Mine goes something like that.Only I did through the entire course of my play time.I think I spent more time helping people out than I did question or leveling. So,that's almost a year of me having a blast while helping people. And I helped everyone, not just guildies or people on my friends list.
