Every kid has a dream, whether it be to become an astronaut, to race cars or to become a super government agent spy. But, at some point most people realise that those childish dreams hardly ever come true, and one must reset the goals to something more feasible.

So I present you with a two part question: 1) What was your childhood goal, and did you ever actually achieve that goal?
2) What more realistic goal did you give yourself after realizing maybe that childhood one was a little far fetched.

Of course, if you are one of the few that actually achieved your childhood goal, then disregard the second question.

I'll begin: My childhood goal was to be a world class doctor. This is usually one of the goals that children have and they usually achieve, because it is not too far fetched to be accomplished. Unfortunately for me, I realized that I simply did not want to be a doctor around the age of 10.

While visiting London with my family I became so captivated by the city, and now my goal is too move one day to England. I plan to live in a village near by London, and go in each day to my job (which I still haven't worked out what it will be)

So now its your turn, what are/were your goals? (Sorry if this has been done before, a quick search yielded no results, but feel free to rudely ponder my ability to use the search button. Also, if you feel so inclined, provide a link to a similar topic so I can post there.)

I'd like to become a published and celebrated author at somepoint

Training to be a teacher at the minute, I've wanted to be a teacher for a few years

I wanted to be lots of things. One was an author. For an example of my work, take a look at this thread: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.110578?page=3#1939380

As it happens, despite what I posted on that thread, as a kid I wasn't that good at writing. Numbers were more my thing. I did want to be an RAF pilot for a time, then an accountant but decided not to bother when I found I'd have to do a further 4/5 years study after university. I just thought 'screw that'.

Right now, I'm doing a BSc Mathematics and I'm sort of unsure about what to do after. I kind of want to work with computers and be a game developer, but I've also decided that acting or film-making would be within my dreams (although I have no qualifications for either). Game development is the front runner at the moment, though.

I want to rule the world (OR at least part of it), become a comedian or become a physisist.

My life goal is the same life goal I have had since I was 5 years old and will remain as such until I die.

I want to be a game designer, programmer most likely, and be part of creating a truly great game.

To die and see if anything happens after death.

Or to enslave the human race and start world wars 3 - 76.521A.

I always (and I mean always) wanted to be a Mad Scientist as well as a musician. I'm well on my way to completing the first one (currently at college working to study physics at university) and I play the violin and sing and may be starting a band in the forseeable future so I'd say I'm doing fairly well as far as my childhood dreams are concerned.

Asa kid, I wanted to work for a zoo or something like that. But now, I don't want to, nor could. The same goes for enlisting in the military and joining the NYPD (I want to, but I know full well that I couldn't do it nor would they want me. ).

But now my life goal is to have my writing published. Currently writing something like 5 different things.

My goal is get in bed with this one girl or, if she doesn't want to do that, positively influence her life in some way, like writing an award winning story in which the movie adaptation you would demand she be the lead female actor or if she grows up to be a crack whore some how use the good life you have with your family to change her life around.

Yes I've thought about this a lot.

...or was it take the world by storm and dominate at everything?

Ah well either one would be as satisfying.

I mean she was basically a hometown angel/neighborhood goddess. I wish I was exaggerating.

My fantasy: become a game designer. I know, fucking SHOCKING from someone who goes to gaming sites!

More likely goal I have set for myself in the meantime: be happy. Simple.
