At first I wanted to be a game designer. Then as I got older, I decided I didn't want my life to revolve around games. I spent much of my adolescence being unsure of what career path I wanted to follow. When I was around 16, I thought about being a voice actor. In school, whenever we had to read something out loud from a book, I was the one guy that really got into it, trying to sound what I thought the characters should sound like. Then I found out that their pay is crap, and my high school guidance counsellor suggested a career as a radio announcer.
Currently, I'm about to go to college for Radio Broadcasting. However, a year ago, I discovered my real passion - martial arts. When I was about 14, I took a self-defence (jiu-jutsu) class as part of gym class in high school. I didn't like it because I sucked at learning the moves, and the fact that there were a lot of students meant that the sensei was often busy helping someone else.
When I was 17, I took a fitness kickboxing class (again, as part of gym class). I loved it, and I wanted more. I started going to a dojo after I finished high school. And now I train in kickboxing, kenpo, and MMA classes.
I might not be able to become a professional fighter, what with starting training at such a late age, but at least I'll always have a kickass hobby, a way to stay in shape, and maybe the chance to enter the occasional tournament.
