I have to say Patapon. I LOVE patapon. It's truly my favorite game series and I could spend all day talking about the things that make it so awesome to me. But it is rarely mentioned online. I see a one or two fans randomly every few months but it doesn't happen enough if you ask me. And my friends. Man. My friends either don't care for the game or can't play it to save there lives.
I was so glad multiplayer online came out for 3. I played online for hundreds of hours. I haven't played it recently but the music still plays in my head.
I had a friend in high school who owned Patapon back when the PSP was still expensive and exciting. I played it during gym class every now and then, it was pretty damn fun. I never actually bought it myself, though. The actual control scheme always left a little to be desired for me.
OT: I don't really associate myself with any particular fandoms. If I had to put myself into any groups of "fandoms" (which I define as people who have an irrational love for something), the biggest ones I would pick are Scrubs, Metal Gear Solid, and I had a third one . . . well, I can't remember my actual third pick, so I'll choose the backup third pick: Sonic the Hedgehog.
Why, you ask? Well, sit tight and I'll explain.
Scrubs: I find it to be a very funny and realistic show (even despite the fantasies that are a running gag throughout the show), with excellent acting, directing, and writing, and the fact that it was filmed in a real (albeit abandoned) hospital made the series feel just that much more authentic.
Metal Gear Solid: Lets face it, MGS as a series has an extremely bloated, convoluted story that could've been better written by someone at a high school grammatical level. Despite that, the characters have always been very well characterized, the graphics have always pushed each console to its very limits, the sound and art direction are fantastic (and on a similar note the music composition for each game is stellar as well), and the story, while badly written and as Yahtzee said in dire need of an editor preferably armed with pruning shears, is still
interesting. (Also, as a side note, while the top-down camera is extremely frustrating and the control scheme is abysmal to get the hang of, I've really grown to love the gameplay of the MGS series. The AI in particular is extremely fun to toy with and the shooting is never really too broken to kill the rest of the game.)
Sonic the Hedgehog: What can I say, I'm a freak. I've liked most of his 3D games. '06 was the first one that I simply stopped playing out of frustration, I liked Adventure and Adventure 2 (save for the stupid mech levels and Big the Cat), I had a lot of fun with Heroes, and I love the day levels from Unleashed/ the gameplay from Colors. I had fun with Sonic 4 and have even obtained all except for one Chaos Emerald in it, and I'm looking forward to Generations.
Oh, and I finally remembered my original third pick (kind-of sad when I look at my avatar): World of Warcraft. Now, I'm not one of the crazy "imba" players who looks down upon the rest of the player-base because 1% of the population of the game has beaten the hardest content, but I have spent an inordinate amount of time looking up information about statistics and talent distribution to maximize the potential of my own characters at a given gear-level and I don't think any of the pointless bitching about it "being dumbed down" holds any weight just because Blizzard wants to let more people experience the actual content (oh, and because
only 1% of the player population has actually beaten the hardest content! It might be closer to 10%, I don't know or care, but I see those types of posts all of the time whenever I happen to visit WoW forums from people who haven't even done the easiest parts of the current content. Stop basing your own game experience on what other people have done! Er, sorry, I went off on a tangent.)
