Games... AHAHAHAHA!!! Was just pulling your leg, but it is game-related. I seem to be the only one who analyzes games and game mechanics and also the only one who enjoys Indie Games... I feel so alone when i start to go oooooon and ooooon about Bastion, Trine, Fate of the World and of course... Extra Credits...

Homeworld. A brilliant game with a brilliant backstory. I only know one person IRL who plays it, and the group here is depressingly small.

There would be Dwarf Fortress that I guess I am not lonely with when it comes to the internet, but in general nobody I talk to even heard of it.
I share your sorrow. I have met exactly two people who have heard of Dwarf Fortress and neither have played it because of its reputation.

Instead I just spend my time on the Bay12 forum where everyone is willing to talk about it!

Scott pilgrim vs the world. I love the comics with the fiery passion of a billion suns. The movie was pretty good, but my natural dislike if michael cera didnt do it for me. Also they missed the BEST BITS. Like when he kisses kim pine.

For me, it's Buffy the Vampire Slayer. No one ever wants to watch with me. And it's so much fun!

Why will no one watch Buffy with me - not even my fiance?!
Since I've been in a television dry spell, where there are only a couple current shows that I like, I decided several months ago to watch old shows that I knew about but never really showed much interest in.

A couple months ago I finished all seven seasons of Buffy; it was good and Anthony Head(Giles) was great and my favorite character. I started watching Angel when Buffy started intertwining story-lines with the spin off. I've only got five or so more episodes of the final season of that to go as well.

-------------------------

I really can't think of anything else I watch or like that has a really small fandom.

Though I have been big on watching Syfy channel shows lately:

Eureka, Warehouse 13, and Haven. Basically shows that I thought might be in my interest area but don't have time to watch when they are on. Though with the magic of the internet, I can always catch up.

Definitely my music. The Post-Hardcore genre. It's just not that popular at all.
[Insert random gibberish here showing how exciting it is to see another person who doesn't hate that genre with all of their guts because "It's like, all just noise and screaming!"]

I love that genre.
So do I. But it's just not that well known in New Zealand.
Don't worry, it's not only New Zealand. I've only met one person who shared a liking of post-hardcore music in my state, and no one I've associated with online has seemed to like it either. Predominant music genres around here appear to be rap/hip-hop and then country, followed by alternative rock. And it seems most people I know who don't just like those tend to like classic rock/techno/electronica/whatever they consider to be "real" metal (usually old Metallica, Black Sabbath, Pantera, etc.)

Though I've met a few people who hate post-hardcore because it's not heavy enough for them (typically fans of death metal and other similar genres). I attempt to just avoid talking about music anymore, because I don't limit myself to any certain genre (the only ones I don't like are country and hip-hop and I don't actively search out rap, jazz, big band, soul, or pop, but I do like them and most any other genre) but for some reason so many people seem to think that you can't possibly like Eminem and Asking Alexandria and Between the Buried and Me and Blink-182.
Yeah, I only know a handful of people who like the genre. It's good though, because you feel an instant connection to the person and have someone else to go to the gigs with.

I'm with you when you say that you don't limit yourself to any genre, I also listen to a wide variety of things. Although it's somewhat of a rare case, I have a friend that's heavily into hip hop and rap that loves August Burns Red and Underoath but nothing else, he draws the line there and I'm not quite sure why that is. The problem I'm personally finding with the genre is that I'm so picky with how it sounds now, and everything that gets released seems to be an underwhelming disappointment.

Most of the music I listen to is by random bands I've stumble upon. My friends have rarely known of these things existence. It gets annoying.

The Touhou Project.

I'm the freaking vice-president of my college's anime club. That's about forty or so Japanophiles that I see every week. And yet I think there's maybe two other guys that play the games, and I barely ever talk to them.

Visual Novels. Nobody I know reads them or enjoys them as much as I do. I find visual novels the best medium for storytelling (my opinion) and they were the only ones to genuinely make me cry because I was so engaged into the story.

Army of Darkness and Starship Troopers novel.

A brilliant film and novel, which I can only discuss on the internet.

I don't personally know a single other person that actually likes Street Fighter. My sister'll play it occasionally, but she's not really a fan.
So I'm stuck with the online modes that, according to people who have real friends they can play with, is actually quite bad.

As far as I know, even though it only came out recently, I'm the only person who actually bought this. Which is a hell of a pity, since if anything we should be encouraging more stuff like this: Japanese games being properly released outside Japan, wink wink Operation Rainfall.

My would be Gundam. Sure I can talk about the models abit to my mates but I have to keep it in simple terms and not about the actual anime where it's from and my brother isn't into mech animes either (sure the designs are cool but can't find the appeal to the show itself).

I'm a GIGANTIC Buffy fan, but since I've converted virtually all of my friends to the Cult of Joss, I am no longer lonely in my fandom.

I am, however, fairly lonely in my deep love for Metalocalypse. I love that show so much. Ofdensen is my favorite. I even have the DethPhone ring as my ringtone. It is the most brutal ringtone ever. I've only had a stranger recognize the ring once. You meet the most interesting people in hookah bars.

I am the only person I know, and indeed the only person online as well who I've ever seen, who likes the Three Worlds Cycle, a fantasy series of novels by Australian author/marine biologist Ian Irvine. Seriously, it's the sort of thing you'd imagine fantasy geeks would be all over, but no-one I know has even heard of the series, let alone read the books.

If anyone here has read them, then please, let me know I'm not the only one. I can't even find any decent fan websites or anything, and it doesn't even have any crappy fanfics on Fanfiction.net (literally everything else does except that series...) :p

For me it's Homestuck. My boyfriend is a huge nerd, and we have lots of fandoms in common, (Adventure Time, Mass Effect etc,) but sadly he can't bring himself to make the time and energy investment that Homestuck requires. Many of my other friends won't even give it a chance after I attempt to explain it's plot and format. As a result, no one gets my references, and I have no one to discuss plot twists with.
Me too, several of my nerd friends whom I say "READ THIS IT'S SO FANTASTIC AAAAAAAH" all report the same thing: They stop reading around the slow beginning, when John's just mucking around with cakes and sylladexes. No matter how many times I shout "Read until the meteors, read until the meteors, read until the meteors", they just stop right around there and don't continue reading.

However, one pal of mine said he read Problem Sleuth and loved it.
