Luckily my brother plays the game, so I keep up with it still. I haven't bought any new cards in forever either, but that Marik deck was really cool. My brother bought one, although we already had a lot of his major cards (I still don't have a Mirror Force though). Bakura's my favorite villain too, with the final story arc being my favorite. Although, the manga is way better than the anime, IMO, I still love the anime even if it can get really cheesy.ReservoirAngel said:I haven't played the card game in years. Nobody to play it with, so I haven't had need to upgrade my deck or anything since I last bought one, so I've still only got the basic Marik Structure Deck (only got that one because Marik is my 2nd favourite villain and I don't think there's any Bakura decks...). Plus I never really learnt the really advanced stuff so all that stuff you just said went right over my head.
But I absolutely love the anime. Currently re-watching it actually; just about to start the Battle City story arc. It's kind of amazing how well it's held up over the years. Last time I watched it I was just a wee young-un, but it's still enjoyable. And not just because of nostalgia like I expected, it's genuinely a good show.
Still, I haven't seen beyond Series 4 of the regular show, so I have no knowledge of the sequel shows (going to watch them once I'm finished with all 5 season of the first show).
And yeah, people only seem to know Yu-Gi-Oh nowadays because of the Abridged Series. Which I will agree, is incredibly awesome.
I've been sort of rewatching the original (Duel Monsters)as it reairs on US TV, so I'm at Season 4 right now. Which is kind of my least favorite season because everyone is out of character but the villains are cool. Once you get at least a little knowledge of the sequels/spin-offs, you have to check out the recent anniversary movie, Bonds Beyond Time. Such a fun nostalgia trip, both the dub and sub are pretty good, now I'm just waiting for the abridged version next month...
