Easily Awakened Alma in Ninja Gaiden. On master ninja mode. Had to go back every day for a week straight to try that damn fight over and over again. Only game I have ever broken a controller over. Proudest moment though when I finally beat it.

General RAAM in Gears of War, I dunno what caused it but he was invincible, played co-op and we completely ran out of ammo, grenades and tried the troika on him. It was impossible to kill him, sooo, we restarted the system thinking something was off after the 10th time and won easily.

MUCH RAGE.
Happened to me to. 3rd run through he became Invincible and pissed me off. On my 6th run through online with another player I set my record killing him in 20-30 seconds on the hardest difficulty. made me cry.

OT: Longest boss fight? Well, for me it's proly Selena Vinland. I mean, sure I've spent 10 hours trying to kill a boss before, but that was totaling the time together, plus the time it took to get back to the boss when I died. But with Selena, we had a 3 hour long back and forth before she finally decided to keel over. Holy fuck it was ridiculous. At least I got Blind out of it.
Thank god that I wasn't the only one with this bug, I mean I wouldn't wish it on anyone else but I thought maybe I was just crazy.

Nomad, boss of Nomad's Requiem, in RuneScape. Sure, the battle itself didn't take more than 10 or 20 minutes, but you lose so damn many times, and have to buy supplies over and over, and then you decide screw it, I'm gonna train up my skills a bit more first, spend a week doing that, come back, lose again a few more times, then finally win.

Best feeling-after-beating-a-boss ever.

EDIT: Not to mention his maximum hit is one less than your HP level, and if at any point he can't attack you for 10 seconds, he heals back to 1000 HP. In contrast, the most HP you can have is 99.

Definatly The End from MGS3. I was so determined to get his tranq gun that I spent 6 hours hunting that old fart with just my tranq pistol and melee while he regenerated stamina faster than I could bring it down. For a geriatric he sure can last a fucking long time, even if he has been tranqed about 20-30 times in the face...

If not The End as the hardest (first time on hard mode was just utter torture, and frankly quite terrifying. my nerves were shot to hell after the several hours I took), then definatly my first play through of Ninja Gaiden II against High Infernal Priest Dagra Dai (that's his full name). by the time you reach him you have just about zero health items, zero ninpo boosts, your reincarnation used up and absolutly no shred of hope. And when you do beat him it gets even better, because you then fight ANOTHER boss which is even more cheap (again with no breaks between to stock up), and then if you somehow manage to beat him as well, then...

...well then you get to fight the final boss in the game, who has an ability he uses quite often which hits the entire arena and on any difficulty above normal kills you in one blast...

Joy.

Runescape. There's this one cave where you have to kill over 9000 monsters all of levels such as 363 and even a level 702! The reward for it was a fire cape (a cape with an animation of lava running down it). In total it took me about an hour and a bit to complete. Definately worth it at the time. But I don't play anymore so...

Tartarus on Legendary. Jesus. Fucking. God. I emptied, and I mean emptied, dual Brute Plasma Rifles into his head (Be aware that this can only be done every five minutes or so because of his shield) as well as multiple Carbines. The only way that I beat him was by finding a place out of his reach and shooting him in the face for about an hour.
I don't know why, but I find Tartarus easier on legendary than on hard

and if we're talking longest actual fight, then one of the last few optional bosses of FFXII.
If it's longest time spent trying to beat a boss... 4 hours trying to beat Queen Gohma in OoT.

I did not know how to damage her, and was unaware of how zelda is played (use the item you just obtained to kill the boss).

The longest boss fight to me was when I was fighting against Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts 2. It was easy but the amount of health bars he had was insane.

Yeah, the Krill surrounding him wouldn't just go away no matter how I hit him. Took me 1h and 30 min to figure out he was glitched.

I'v just spent 3 days trying to kill The Destroyer on Borderlands.

I'v technically killed it 5 times, but every time it died the game crashed, so I had to re-install it, then it died for real, apparently I could have stopped it from crashing if I just shot it the last few times without a scope. But I took the other guy's advice.

And the lols were epic.

Oh, you're lucky then, because everything was working with us (co-op partner), except the dying bit. The krill ran, the helicopter flew, it was just infinit HP.

Probably one of the final bosses on a flash game called "Sonny" on Kongregate (don't judge). It's some doctor in the Vally of Shadows that unlocks after the game. He has something like 1 million health and he has a heal that will instantly restore his health, which he used liberally. So I had to spend hours and hours maxing out my character to give him an ability that causes enemy healing powers to do damage, and then I spent about 45 minutes slowly whittling down his health and cursing the gods everytime my healing-switch power hadn't recharged in time, until he FINALLY went down. I couldn't even enjoy my victory it was so rage-inducing...

At first I thought you were trying to be cute. Like, /thread kinda [annoying] cute. But then I realized you were only being brief. :) Metal Gear Solid 3's "The End" sniper boss fight, I take it? The one that is designed to be a lengthy battle? The one that your team suggests in the most 4th wall nearly broken ways that what is about to transpire may take hours, so Naked Snake should be as rested as can be before fighting? Yeah, that was a long [run on sentance] fight. :)

OP: I just spent an hour fighting the final boss (being spoiler free here) on the Resident Evil 5 DLC on Professional Level. If you've tried, you know what I mean. Either that, or I suck when quick time events are concerned. I kept getting hung up on the AI's inibility to manage healing sprays when the AI is at max, and I am at 25% and less. I had eggs, and other things to keep me afloat, but the AI would blow all my sprays right away. The restart check point is the start of the match, and the inventory is real time! So, I eventually just had to get lucky.

SpiderBall guardian on Hard in Metroid Prime II ECHOES. Everytime I reach that boss i get the feeling of vomiting in my mouth, I really REALLY hate that boss fight. Doesn't help I suffer from claustrofobia and actually get it during the boss fight sometimes.

Took me nearly a week of(painfull) tries to kill the beast...

No mention of Velius in Final Fantasy Tactics? I'm shocked. Here's the deal with Velius, for the uninitiated: there is a battle right before you fight Wiegraf/Velius, and since battles are fairly lengthy and epic in Final Fantasy Tactics, you generally save after every battle, including this one. The problem is, if you save after the battle before Wiegraf/Velius, you're stuck fighting Wiegraf/Velius. Meaning: if you party is under leveled, you have no chance to leave to go level up some. I came very, very close many times on my first play-through, but ultimately I just had to restart. I hadn't even unlocked many of the stronger classes by that point, and I just couldn't get Velius down.

The game is a little obscure, but the Holoholo Bird in Baten Kaitos: Origins. Good fucking lord. I was stuck on it for the longest time and the attempt where I finally beat it took 3-4 hours at least.
Yes. Geez, some of the bosses near the end were just pinching the hour mark. And then there's the part right near the end where they give you three bosses in a row without a save point between so that's 3 hrs of free time you need right there.
