Without question Yiazmat from FFXII - the bastard has over 50 million Hp (most party attacks are limited to the usual 9999 damage), plus he hits hard and has instant death attacks. I don't know how many hours it took me. Thankfully the designers made it so you could exit the fight, save, and come back later and he would still have the same damage that you dealt to him.

More recently Elizabeth Greene from [Prototype]. Even on easy it was a long fight (for that game at least) but on hard it took ages - she has some real cheap attacks, you have very few options when taking her on, plus you have to deal with marines and other infected at the same time. Nightmare. You have to hit her once and then run away or else you're dead, and you need to hit her a lot of times.

But my longest fight was the last hunt in FF12, took me 3+ hours with lvl 90 characters. That's without a game over. The guy has 50 MILLION hp while hitting him for 1000-6000 dmg a hit (combo weapons) alot of time spent on reviving guys and rebuffing them.

Final Fantasy XII's Yiazmat.
Hours of work, a bugger to kill - but at least you could run off, save and heal then come back without it healing itself.
Damn ninjas...

That old bastard took like 2 hours to bury and I hear that that's a fast time!

Either that or all my combined attempts against Sephiroth on Kingdom Hearts 1. (I thought he was WAY easier on KH2)

When I was younger, I just couldn't defeat Bowser in Paper Mario.

But in more recent years, I had a HELL of a time taking down Shiro at the end of Guild Wars: Factions. Partly because he would seek out any and all AoE damage dealers (such as yours truly) and turn them to stone for a few seconds, but also because I got into Factions late and groups taking down Shiro on normal difficulty were few and far between. The absolute worst part was when I realized I had missed my chance to snag the end-game exclusive pet (Imperial Phoenix) the first time, and would have to do it all over again. Fortunately, the second time wasn't nearly as hard - and he dropped a sweet Elementalist staff just for me.

Nyx in Persona 3. Battle seemed to last forever, which made it all the more frustrating when I'd get him down to his last sliver of health and he'd destroy me. Still haven't beaten the fucker.

Black Phantom Satsuki.

He wasn't hard, but the oh-so-intelligent devs decided to put in a senseless and time consuming "slash-and-dodge" maneuver with any curved sword. Seriously, my characters end up doing so much retarded shit because of these random "maneuvers" you end up accidentally doing most of the time.

This is gonna make me sound like a n00b, but the first time I fought El Gigante in Resident Evil 4. Like after the first time I died fighting him, I literally said aloud "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!" 'til I eventually ran outta breath. Then went to grab something to eat so I could repeat the process all over again.

I don't know if you can count this but I spent 4 and a half hours trying to catch Cressilia in Pokémon: Diamond. When I finally caught it, I turned off my DS and finally got some sleep.

Miguel - Chrono Cross. Maybe I was young and not prepared for the fight like the older, more experienced gamer I am today, but that fight kicked my ass for hours and hours.

So I just spent 6 hours fighting Luci in Dante's Inferno. It fried my brain to the point the fight is ingrained into my head; I'm having like miniature Nam flashbacks XD
So Now, I'm curious, what's the longest you've spent throwing yourself against a brick wall of a boss?
only took me an hour on normal (20 minutes or so on Hellish), hes hard as fuck tho.

on topic, i think thats my longest one. Lucifer whipped my ass for quite a while. beat him by midnight (had been playing it all day when i got it in the morning).

The most recent I can remember is Doctor Nefarious in Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. The fight itself is easy, I just kept dying to that damned hoverboot section. I spent about 2 hours on him everyday for 4 days before I could finally kill the ************.

gargh this brings back some sad memories. The king of nights: NINETY NINE NIGHTS. o.m.g so annoying. takes absolutley no damage when u hit him, buh 2 hits and u end u dying. 2 hours 15 mins later and he was dead. after i beat him, and checked youtube for vids, i found out that if u got to lvl 9 (i was lvl 8) u unlocked a move that could do some srs damage to him. i cried bad after that..

Last boss on Lost Planet on the hardest difficulty, almost 8 hours spread out between about a week, eventually my neighbor (Who had never played the game) beat him on the first try. Although the boss fight was nothing like the rest of the game ;P.
