4 horseman from Vanilla Wow or C'thun, he was a pain, weeks and weeks of 4 hour raiding every day, good times.

Umbra from Oblivion

I play with OOO, and that shit lasted for like 2 hours. I dragged her all over the continent just running away healing and trying to parry her blows. Now that I look back at it, it was a lot of fun.

Salazar in RE4, didn't really have the right gun/ammo, or good aim, so it took forever. On replaying the game with infinite rocket launcher, the battle was over much more quickly!

If the time taken for multiple attempts counts I would have to say beating the Devil on Guitar Hero 3 on Expert. Apart from that I cant think of any long boss battles I have fought recently.

Not me, and not a video game, but a friend of mine used to play 2nd edition D&D and at one point they spent something like 5 hours trying to kill a monster, only to finally realize that the "monster" was actually an illusion that went away the moment they disbelieved it. This is a lot easier to understand when you realize that in 2nd edition, illusions were a LOT harder to detect than in 3rd edition.
I would think the DM should have stepped in at some point there to help them out a little :p

Wasn't there one boss that lasted 13 hours or something and was meant to be played for that long?
I think it was the Pandemonium Warden in FFXI took the top guild 18 hours to down the damn thing. There was an article about it on The Escapist like 2 years ago about it :p
OT: I would have to say Omega Weapon in FF8. DAMN that crap took forever. I never got far enough into FF12 to face whatshisname.

That may have been it. I do remember reading a story about it on Yahoo and that it was indeed a FF game.

A 41 minute fight in World of Warcraft against the Lurker.

I have no idea how that happened.

My first time playing Metroid Prime, beating the metroid prime itself was tough for me. Though so was Dark Samus in the sequel x_x. Also, someone mentioned Shiro from Guild Wars: Factions, and I share you sentiment lol.

though I think the fight against Shiro AND the Lich was probably harder when Guild Wars: Nightfall first came out.

M'uru from WoW: The Burning Cursade. I don't even want to think about how much time I put into that boss. Same goes for the "Firefighter" and "Alone in the Darkness" encounters.

Yiazmat for the one I beat, it took me eight hours!

And Absolute Virtue as one I (and everybody else) can not beat. If you have beaten it you are lying as nobody has ever defeated this boss.
Sorry my friend, quite a few have defeated him. The first wave was due to a wall glitch, and the second through an all or nothing zerg of KC Drk's. If I recall correctly this was quickly patched up by SE since it wasn't how they wanted him to be taken down. I quit playing a while ago so I'm not sure if the "legit" way has finally been figured out, but to say someone is lying point blank like that is greatly incorrect.
I was going to phrase it this way but I didn't guess I should have known this would happen

Nobody has ever legitimately beaten absolute virtue. But it is only because nobody has zoomed on the text box hard enough.

I spent 2 days finishing the final summon in Final Fantasy X....

.....however, I guess that is cheating in terms of this thread. I left the game running whilst I went to do something else and only realised it was still going when I came back after a weekend away. Still 'technically' the longest boss fight I ever had.

Hahaha i bet you had an epic eletricity bill if this was on a console it must have been glowing white hot by the end of it lol
