There have been numerous stories over the last few months/years of long gaming sessions leading to death (Korea: Diablo 2), fits (Sweeden: WoW) and weird trance like states (Italy: Playstation).

So I ask you, what are your experiences with extreme gaming. Felt ill afterwards, vision gone blurry, sore arse?

Personally I think the best I've done is a couple of all nighters (maybe 8-12 hours?) with a mate playing various incarnations of Heroes of Might and Magic. After we eventually pass out I tend to wake up feeling like I have a hang over. Even then that's quite relaxed because of the turn base nature. We'd even take breaks to make coffee and so on.

Over to you, freaks:

Heart attack.

A few hours on a dance machine with a dodgy ticker at higher levels became a bit of a deadly activity for me =(

My longest session would be 8 hours in GTA4 when I first bought it. Not that long, so I don't regret it.

my longest gaming session without sleep and or other activities except food and bathroom is around 30 hours, playing WoW with friends at a LAN party a couple of years ago, and no, i dont regret it, cause it was a weekend, we were all having a blast, and we got alot of stuff done in game.

a friends came over one day and we spent about 8 hours gaming, 6 of those were spent on SSBB doing challenges, events and other co-op stuff.

WoW... and quite often. Grinding, questing, raiding, grouping and doing daily dungeon added up to a whole day sometimes. I now have a characters full of gold and epic flying mounts that I don't use anymore... so ya it was a waste of time now that you think about it.

Ever since I pulled a few all nighters playing Civ, I've thought that games should be measured on an insomnia scale.

when Super smash brothers Melee came out, me and my brother did at least 30 hours, after we did pass out, we woke up, got more food and went at it again, and had Unlocked pretty much everything

I normally break up my gaming into smaller sessions, but there was one instance when I played a little too long.

I don't know how long I played for, but four or five years ago, I was playing King of the Monsters on my brother's SNES. The game didn't have a save feature, so if you wanted to finish it, you had to do it in one sitting. I decided to try and finish the game. It took me a really long time, and by the time I got to the final monster my hand was cramping up (the first time it ever happened to me, and the last time it happened to me, while playing a video game). So, I beat it, but my hand hurt like hell. Do I regret it? Not a chance.

Woke up at 7 on Saturday, went to sleep at 6 on Monday. Then woke up at 7 on Monday for School.

That's... *thinks*

Wow, 47 hours... Holy crap, I'm not even dead!

It wasn't just one game, it was a mix of Battlefield 2142, Rome: Total War, and Second life, as a whole crapload of intarweb browsing.

Yeah, looking back I'm grateful my parents locked the PC for a while, but I don't regret the actual act of it, just the mind-numbing consquences.
Seriously, I was bumping into things and I could barely event think.

I guess that was what drugs are like.

mine was about 12 hours, might well have been more than that. Though i can't remember which game it was exactly though it was probably GTA IV come to think of it.

I'm not one to stay up overnight to play games (Unless me and my friends schedule our bi-annual LAN), but my longest stint would have to be 5am on a Wednesday to about 8pm that night on WoW, doing mainly raiding with different people. So that's like... 15 hours. I felt pretty bad straight after it, i wasted a whole day on nothing really.
