On a more serious note, I haven't really had much trouble with the Mass Effect games. My only major gripe would have to be
on the planet where you meet Kaidan/Ashley (depending on who survived in ME1) and have to fight your way to the computer, so you can get the GARDIAN-cannons working... two Scions is not fun at Veteran D:<
Heh, Veteran. Try it on Insanity ;)
that would be insane! D:

The irony is that on my first playthrough on Hardcore, those two scions on Horizon kicked my ass. I had also brought Jacob and Grunt... two terrible characters to deal with Armor. It literally took me hours to beat them.

But by the time I got to play on Insanity, I had a much better grasps of the game's mechanics as well as a heads up... I brought Mordin (Incinerate) and Zaeed (Inferno Grenade)... I also brought the Flame Thrower heavy weapon to deal with those pesky husks. I think it took me 2-3 attempts to clear it.

I see a lot of people complain about the Collector Ship on Insanity... I don't think I even died once in there (Aside from Ymir Mech and Praetorian, very little could kill me once I hit level 20)... being max level and using Samara's AE Reave + Deep Freeze Crio Blast pretty much made every encounter about using two abilities... and just spam Heavy Incinerate with Mordin and Heavy Reave with myself on Harbinger and he goes down like a *****.

The game becomes very easy, even on Insanity, once you take the time to understand the game mechanic and get high enough level to max some key powers.

Thank you for creating this thread so I didn't have to.

This happened to me last night.

2nd play through of Mass Effect (1st run thru nil bugs encountered). I've rescued Liara and killed the Thorian. Now on Noveria for the Rachni thing.

I get to Peak 15 and start clearing, fixing the puzzles etc. I haven't played for so long that I've forgotten where the big showdown with Benezia is, I haven't saved since entering the Peak, and I stumble into the end boss fight. No sweat I think to myself, I've got all lvl IX/X gear, she's going down like a sack in a few seconds. I run up the stairs but before I can unload the pain Benezia hits me with her biotic/telekinetic shit. Now Shepard is flopping around on the ground like a dying fish (for 5 controller-breaking minutes), but I also can't do anything else - no menu, nothing - but pan the camera and watch the flopping before she finally kills him. Damn I say - no problem, I'll restart. It loads up, and I'm back at the entrance to Peak 15.

Fuck.
this happened to me twice on two diffrent palythroughs, 1st time i rage quited and came back later and did it again, this last time ive rage quited and i doubt im going back to it

Have any of you guys tried completing the game in Insanity Mode? It is... insane.

That level where the flying hive thing attacks you in the Reaper ship. What the shit? He regenerates health at will and takes 10 minutes to knock his health down, all the while he can pretty much kill you if you're in the open, and you will be in the open quite a bit as he floats over to all of your hidey-holes. Just when your getting somewhere a hive comes over and bites you in the dick.

Also that side quest where the robots go crazy. There are a limitless number of them. I didn't realize this for like an hour.

That and the resource mining.

Resource gathering (probes / mako equally).

Considering that's most annoying part for me I think the games are very well done.

ROFLMAO, you aren't going to let that go any time soon, are you? ;-)
Never!

The emotional scars run too deep...
Do you wake up sweating and screaming in the night Shouting ''Assuming control, assuming control.............''? ;-) I am never playing on insanity, no sir, n'uh!
haha you guys. That bit was easy compared to the floating fortress of doom just down the corridor.

The platform bit was extremely difficult but you just had to be a total badass. Enemy *CHARGE* 1% health, headshot headshot headshot *cover* Recovered *CHARGE* ARHHHHHH headshot headshot headshot *cover*

If you got the timing right and a plan of action then you made progress i.e. after half an hour you end up dying on the second platform, then another 20 minutes and you are dying on the third platform and so on. The floating thing, my god, you spent 20 minutes blasting him then he just regenerates his health. What the shit?! I just wasted those 20 minutes of fighting for my life!

This is a year ago but the memories are still raw. Don't forget BioWare: I said I would personally strangle each and every one of you for that level and was NOT joking.

That FUCKING vehicle section. It did lead up to a boss fight against autistic SHODAN while he summoned dream-cyber-whatever-geth which is so ridiculously awesome I'm surprised my PS3 could handle it but it doesn't quite make up for one part where my vehicle sank right through the platforms I had to hop across on a lava stream until I restarted.

Edit - oh, also when this happened and I didn't know he'd just hop from guy to guy until all of them were dead.

That is the cowards strategy lol. We never heard of these reaves and and blasts and incinerates you speak of. We used good old fashioned bullets and brute strength and determination. Go and stick your skull into the enemy's chest and nevermind your magic powers. Unless you hold a Krogan's testicles between your teeth whilst you reattach your own legs then you haven't truly witnessed insanity.

To be honest? Ashley and the mako ruined loads of stuff for me.
For example, when we got to the presidium, I was like "Wow, this is amazing, so elegant and tranquil" and Ashley says "Nice lake, wonder how many people have DROWNED in it."

Jesus fuck. What a little emo-downer.

I don't even understand why we had to destroy the cloning facility in the first game.

"We must destroy this facility to stop Sauren gaining an invincible army."
"Ok, couldn't we just save some data, you know, to help the Krogan when this is all over?"
"Nope. No time. Well... maybe I'll do that in Mass Effect 2."
"What? huh? The hell are you talking about Shepard?"
"errrrrm, nothing."

Keep in mind that my post wasn't made in a 'ME suck it's so easy lol!' - I loved ME2 and I think the fact that the game gets easier (even if you crank up the difficulty) when you start to understand the mechanism of it are what make it a great game rather than a dumb shooter. There's only so much your bullets can do, especially when you play on Insanity.

'System mastery' (Understanding what power do, understanding what power to take, understand what allies to bring, understand which of their power to use and when, understand which of your power to use and when, etc) is important in ME2, much more so than knowing how to aim. If all you're doing is ducking and shooting, than truthfully you aren't playing Mass Effect.

I beat the game on insanity by using my mind and figuring out how the system tick... you beat it by using your head as a blunt instrument against the brick wall that is the Collector Ship... I'm sorry, I'll stick to my way :p You call it the coward's way, I call it being smart.

Anything involving Ashely and Kaiden.

Ashely was just someone I could too easily hate and Kaiden was just boring as hell. I was sad there wasn't an option to leave em both behind on Virmire.

My most recent annoyance was in ME1, the fight right after freeing Liara. I forget what my difficulty setting was, but I was having trouble as an Infiltrator with that fight. I don't mind having to play a hard fight over and over, but having to go through the same elevator cutscene every time was extremely annoying.

Also, I hate whenever I miss getting Kelly to feed my fish in ME2.

Blimey another old post :O What gives with the resurrected Mass Effect threads, lol?
As I stated I didn't/won't ever play on insanity, so I will have to take your word for it ;)
