Not really a death but it caused me to restart the game. I was playing sonic adventure for the Dreamcast, it's the second day I have it, and I choice to play as Sonic. When the game finishes loading, I find sonic falling into thin air with no ground in sight, so yeah after 20 secs I pause the game and return to the main menu since it's obviously a glitch with the graphics.

Bailed out of the car in Saints Row 2. Halfway through jumping out my character seemed to become stuck in that position but I could still control the car. I drove around for a while with half of my characters body sticking out of the car before slamming my characters face into a sign post causing my chaaracter to fly back, oh, say, A BILLION kilometres. I flew over like 5 buildings. EPIC.

Unfortunatly, the only glitch in this story is me.........

In EQ1, during the early days. I made an Ogre character. I did not like the beginners area (the Fearot), so I ran to Quenos. That was a human city. I mean, it was OK, they had an Ogre vendor just inside the gate, right?

I got there and started to kill outside the gates. A friendly spellcaster offered to bind people to the gate (so when you die or respawn, you don't have to run a long ways). I said, GREAT! Didn't want to have to run all the way from the Fearot, right? I got the bind.

Killed some more stuff, and filled my bags. Headed into the gates to sell, and of course the guards killed me. I respawned, 3 feet from the guard. It killed me again, and again, and again.........

A GM came on after someone sent him a tell about the pile of bodies in front of the gate. I logged out and headed to the message boards to find out about this new thing called "faction".

I was playing Halo: CE multiplayer on Blood Gulch. I grabbed a warthog and drove against an enemy holding a Fuel Launcher, (not the smartest thing to do) and he blew me up. (that's not the end of it) After a couple of seconds I respawned, grabbed an assault rifle (hoping to kill the bastard) and when through the teleported and died because the warthog was on the other end of the teleporter.

First time I ever "played dead" as a minstrel with a group in Fornost (LOTRO) I forgot the imperative to put myself in a spot where the enemy won't aggro you. I played dead at the very last possible minute after the rest of the group was defeated. Then 5 of the enemy reset right next to me. All I could do was watch the timer along with my very low health and curse my stupidity. My friends were all laughing even before I awoke and got beat to mush.

In Halo, spawned *right* behind a teammate just as she got sniped in the head. I don't think the sniper even knew why he got a double kill.

Lol the halo franchise is infamous for killing us in ways we don't expect. I can't count how many times i've been splattered by a spawning warthog, or spawned in front of sniper fire, or been run over by a lagging tank that materialized out of thing air. I remember recently, on Coldsnap, one of the other team's dudes somehow glitched their longsword into our base, and was firing missiles and nukes out the wazoo. I stayed in the respawn screen for a looong time :p

Calling the spawn command in UT2004 via the console, to get a Leviathan battle tank. I forgot to turn God mode on, and was promptly crushed by several hundred tonnes of mobile firepower.

I was pretty amused.

Not really a death per se, but there's this glitch in ATV Off Road Fury for the PS2, that, if you try to venture off the border line of the game, you are instantly flung about 1000 meters into the air.

Your character doesn't die, but he gets pretty twisted XD

Assassin's Creed; I'm fleeing for my life through the streets and I get cornered, (shit) but there's only like five guards (ok I can take them), so I'm about to pull out my short sword and slit them up as they surround me when suddenly the screen goes back and I reload somewhere rather far away from where I last was...

I think I technically died, but I'm not sure, it was very strange

Sort of a death. In Tomb Raider:AoD I began to fall to my death for the 20th time. Halfway to the floor I paused and went to load my game again, BUT, I accidently saved instead.

It was so fucking hilarious, I wasn't nearly as pissed off as I could have been. Everytime I loaded that file it was like:

"AAAHHHHH!" Splat. Then "AAAHHHHH" again because the game was so glitchy.

"AAAHHHHH!" Splat. "AAAHHHHH!"
"AAAHHHHH!" Splat. "AAAHHHHH!"
"AAAHHHHH!" Splat. "AAAHHHHH!"
"AAAHHHHH!" Splat. "AAAHHHHH!"

Mines happen in the rogue-like game, Net Hack. I think I was wondering around when I found a ring that, when equip, made my character float. This seemed fine to me until my character started to get hungry and I had to get some food. Well, I found some food but I couldn't reach it, because I was floating off the ground. And I found out that the ring was cursed so I can't take it off. I was started to worry, as I didn't want starvation added to my list of deaths; but I did get a sense of relief when I finally found a remove curse scroll in a room.

Unfortunately, I removed the ring while over a sink which I hit and was killed by...

I was playing a convoy ambush mission in Operation Flashpoint a few years ago. I remember this vividly.

I had laid some charges on the side of the road in hopes of destroying an armored column that was due to arrive in a few minutes. When the convy arrived, it was headed by a UAZ (a small jeep-like vehicle). I set off the charges only to see the UAZ go flying up into the air and land directly on my head - killing me instantly. Seriously, this thing went like 150 feet into the air!

I guess this doesn't really count, but...

I Assassin's Creed, I had the angry guards chasing me, and I tried to jump onto a ladder. My finger slipped and I leaped right off the ladder. I turned the mouse quickly to try again, and then I landed facing the wrong way stiff-legged, not crouching on impact. A crusader ran into me and, I kid you not, I launched a mile into the air. I went up for about thirty seconds! (At this point, I had to feel good about my computer, because I could see the entire city of Acre, and I think Jerusalem, and my frame rate didn't noticeably dip at all.) Finally, I reached the top and started the thirty second fall back down...

Into a haystack.

Into a HAYSTACK, about twenty feet away. I survived.

I survived, and the guards couldn't find me. The crusader had knocked me a mile up, and a mile back down, and I escaped the guards. Never had tech problems before or after that...

I can't remember the last time I actually died in a spectacular fashion, though. Sorry.

Let's see.
I was goomba'd by the dead body of an opponent i had just sniped on Valhalla in Halo 3. He fell into the mancannon when I killed him and his body landed on me FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE.
That was pretty hilarious, though I didn't find it so until I went back and saw how I actually died in the replay.

So I was playing Fallout 3 one day and was going to complete the Superhuman Gambit quest. I walked up to the mechanists forge only to find that the store had mysteriously vanished. Instead there was a huge hole in the ground where it should have been. I had no idea what was going on but I could still see the door that lead into the building. So I decided to take a risk and walk to the door. I plunged into the hole and fell about 100 feet before hitting a texture bellow the map, which was obviously fatal. Then my Brainbot servant fell on top of my lifeless body.

Still have no idea why the Forge vanished.

In Far Cry: Instincts, there is a boss battle where you have to kill this giant mutant thing as he swats every object at you. Well I killed him and found a perpetual motion barrel that was constantly spinning on it's rim. I thought 'cool. wounder what happens when I touch it?' Well you insta-die and get flung across the level, that's what. I was very confused.
