So I was wondering. There are enough games to name every star in our pretty night sky. And with me, being a huge sucker for a good soundtrack, are always on the prowl for new pearls to put on my shelf.
So here I am now, asking you - What game is featuring your favorite soundtrack ever?

For me, the answer is pretty much easy.
From all gams I have played before, none had me stunned with awsomeness as much as the Ar Tonnelico series. (Well okay, 1 and 2 are pretty awsome by themselfes.)
I think it is part because the music is essential part of the lore and the gameplay, but.. let's give some examples.

Aaaand.. let's see... this one.

Two of my favorite songs from the game.
But well... Your turn now, share your oppinions of the most awsome game soundtrack ever!

Have you heard the Dynasy Warriors 4 soundtrack, or even any Dynasty Warriors game for that matter? Personally I think it is one of the best ever. It combines classical Chinese instruments with modern rock music very well IMHO and there are some really epic tracks too and those kind of tracks that just pump you up.

That's just a small taste.

Well, the video game songs I listen to most often these days come from Final Fantasy IX. Specifically these three:

City Under Siege

Festival of the Hunt

Something to Protect

So I guess that's my answer. But honourable mentions goeth to Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 and NHL 99.

Halo has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard from a game, particularly Halo 3.

Chrono Trigger, the soundtrack was one of the many things which makes the game as good as it is.

Other games with soundtracks I really like are Minecraft, Legend of Zelda and Blazblue.

Ace Combat has awesome soundtrack I like, especially because they are often really appropriate fort he mood. I can think of a good number of examples, but here's one
This plays when you have to take down a monstrous airship;

This one feels really good, considering this thing us huge compared to you.

I liked the KOTOR series for soundtrack. Favourite would be the Dantooine academy because it really suites the mood of the place.

Pity what happens to this place later in the story.

The total war games have excellent soundtracks; I especially liked this one in the new game; I felt it was suited for a naval engagement, especially when there is fog on the battlefield; just as a warning; if you have heavy base, you may wish to turn them down; this track has very large drums playing

That has to be the best tension music I've ever heard.

Battletoads in Battlemaniacs. One of the coolest soundtracks ever. I could be a smartass and pick songs from Guitar Hero: Metallica. God of War song was pretty cool. Baldur's Gate 2 had a good soundtrack too.

For 'Epic' with a capital E and going by ye olden dictionary.com definition of the word "heroic; majestic; impressively great: the epic events of the war." there's only one contender for the absolute most epic music score ever designed for a game series, the most stunning jaw-dropping adrenaline-pumping hardcore 'epic' to have ever graced a game series I've gotta hand it to the Total War series, and if I have to pick one game from that series, Medieval 2: Total War. I mean... well, just listen to this and tell me it doesn't define epic.

Everything after the 3 min mark is pure eargasm.

[HEADING=2]And that's the music for marching, this is the fight music![/HEADING]

It's alright, you can breath now.

I don't think you can have a conversation about this without mentioning Halo

Also the shout for FF9 is pretty awesome. FFX also had some pretty sweet music. This one in particular goes down really well in rock clubs

Time - Hans Zimmer

Try out this one for size. It's not a gaming track, but its the closing climax track for inception, and it's zimmerific!
