Now here's something so spectacularly trollish that I just have to ask:
Why?
:edit: oh wait, never mind, I saw your rant. It just seems like you've misunderstood the entire character so spectacularly that it's no surprise you dislike him - you barely understand him.
Yeah, I watched every last episode (multiple times at that) and the movie. I think that the guy is a prick, pure and simple. I like the rest of the crew, even Jayne, but IMHO, Mal is a prick. I refuse to believe it's because I don't "get" him.
I already listed them off in earlier posts, although special hatred was earned when he threatened to kill his crew if they argued with him and threatened to leave them on a dead planet in a bombed out settlement if they didn't come with him to a suicide run to Reaver territory. That and he never really had a establishing moment that said "he's not all bad" like Jayne did at Jaynestown. Really, why should I be rooting for him? What did he do to earn my approval?
Rosh Penin from Jedi Knight Academy. My hands down most hated Character ever.
Anyone who's played the game knows why, and for those that don't.. he's supposed to be your "Rival" in a way, and is just..painfully obnoxious.
You're basing a lot of your opinion of him off of the movie.
Welp, there's your problem. The movie was pretty bad. In the series, he functions as a stoic but compassionate anti-hero who adheres to his own moral code.
I will admit that, I said to myself with the series "well, it got cancelled, maybe he was supposed to get better or have a Jaynestown moment" so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Here's the thing though, bad or not, the movie is very much canon, Hell, Joss Whedon was the one to write it, so I think I'm well within my right to dislike the character. Also, he had a lot of dick moves in the series, see my earlier posts for that.
Then again I'm not really a huge fan of Firefly. It's not bad but it's ok. Maybe that's a factor
Kai Leng from Mass Effect 3. He was a tit, looked ridiculous, and he pissed me off to no end. Killing him was also probably one of my most satisfying moments in gaming.
He's up there with The Catalyst from the same game, although that hate is all about how he's a terribly written exposition machine put into the game after BioWare abandoned all hope of the plot actually making sense.
Kouichi Hayase from Linebarrels of Iron. Fuck that kid. He's got an annoying catchphrase ("I'm a champion of justice!"), he's spineless, he's useless in a fight without his mech and he's the most narcissistic character I've ever seen. Just look at this kid.
You know, before I got the game, I was well aware of how much everyone hated him. I figured he couldn't be nearly as bad as everyoone made him out to be.
I was wrong.
In the very second level of the game, he sets a freaking robot with a lightsaber on you, just to win a race that wasn't even actually a race. Then, a few levels later when I'd mostly forgotten about him, he shows up in a cutscene and starts claiming Kyle is "holding stuff back" from him, and that he "deserves more power" or something equally obnoxious. And then when he goes missing, Jaden calls him his/her friend. What? He's been nothing but a complete dick to you! And of course, then he turns to the Dark Side. And when I finally get a choice to kill him, it's the bloody Dark Side option.
Lilly from the Walking Dead game. At first I didn't really have anything against her, I actually sided with her a few times and tried to make peace between her and Kenny(Kenny usually just came off as a raving asshole... and he only got worse as the story went on).
And then
she shot Carley... and my wrath could not be sated after that. I couldn't leave her on the side of the road fast enough. To quote The Doctor... "You just killed someone I like, that is not a safe place to stand!"
Kai Leng from Mass Effect 3. He was a tit, looked ridiculous, and he pissed me off to no end. Killing him was also probably one of my most satisfying moments in gaming.
"That was for Thane, you son of a *****!" - one of the best lines in ME3
OT: Probably any "psychotic christian fanatic" from books of Stephen King. I just don't like when the name of a Supreme Being is disgraced with actions of said Beings fan club. I am not really a religious guy, but I do believe in God (maybe quite differently from what I was brought up to believe, but still) and when people justify their mad, anti-humane actions, their stupidity with everlasting "Gawd said so" I just want to *****-slap said people. Even worse, such people exist in our, non-fictional reality.
Also, Kratos from any GoW game, exept for the first one. David Jaffe created a really nice, as Extra Credits described it, greek tragedy. And character of Kratos was quite likable, his reasons were understandable. But money did their thing, and now Kratos is just crazy, bloodthirsty, egoistic maniac, whose purpose is to serve as catalyst of new videogames in GoW franchise.
OT, I'd have to say my most hated character would be either Joffery, for reasons above and
Walder Frey. For fucks sake he's bloody 16, he can make mistakes. Just because he slighted you doesn't me you can kill thousands of men! When your inevitable death comes, no man will mourn you. That also goes for Roose Bolton and his son. May the old gods punish you for all eternity.
See, I quite like Roose Bolton because I don't see him as a villain. He's just a pragmatist. Robb Stark was as crap as his father at dealing with people, he was never going to hold an alliance of the North together, something which becomes obvious when he starts making clumsy mistakes. Getting rid of him to prevent needless loss of life in the war and ensuing winter was really the best thing to do. Also, unlike the Freys and, to some extent, Lannisters, he's not unnecessarily evil. He just does the deed, and moves on. In a series full of people making idiotic decisions I like his sensibility.
You're right on Ramsey though, that guy's a total bastard in every meaning of the word.
I see a lot of hate for Joffrey and Cersei, but the character I personally can't stand is Caitlyn Stark. She's just so self-righteous about everything she does even though her decisions are impetuous, driven by arrogance and more often than not just wrong. I mean she goes and kidnaps Tyrion, essentially kickstarting the whole war (something which she never recognises, btw) and when leading a band of followers through the mountains to take him to her sister starts complaining that its his fault and his treachery that those followers are being killed by bandits. Err, no, its yours, for kidnapping the guy (for what reasoning exactly? I never quite understood why she did that) and bringing everyone through bandit-infested mountains! She releases Jaime Lannister causing the friction with the Karstarks when they get angry they can't take similar liberties. So she's also partly responsible for the northern alliance breaking up, which again she never recognises, and it also shows she believes she's above the rules. And then there's her various comments through the series where she seems to believe she knows best about everything forever just because she's squeezed a few kids out. Whats that Caitlyn, you think Robb is trying to send you away to a safe place because you're his mother and having you around makes him look weak. Yes that must be it, it can't possibly be because he thinks you're some of the last remaining family he has left, and one of the few people he can trust, so genuinely just wants you safe and out of harms way, because that might mean the universe doesn't revolve around you. When the (spoiler alert. No, seriously, stop reading if you've not got to Storm of Swords) Red Wedding came around and it turned out Robb probably should have sent her far away (both for her own safety and to stop her giving stupid advice) I felt so damn vindicated. The only thing that spoiled it was that even that didn't stop her. She's still going around making decisions powered solely by her own bloody-minded arrogance. Grr...
I'm actually struggling to come up with any other characters who I've hated so much it would make me happy if they were gruesomely killed...
Oh I hate Cat as well, I usually mention her whenever someone brings up a hate characters but I just plum forgot about her. Like you said she stupid, irresponsible and doesn't even think past the immediate. One thing I still don't get, is why the Lannisters would even bother releasing Sansa. Tywin Lannister would never do it and all that would happen is that leverage would be lost. In a way she reminds me of something Roose said about Ramsay, that he's good on his feet, but is stupid when it comes to the long term. That pretty effectively describes Cat and I'm glad she's bloody
dead, because at least she's doing something constructive.
I still think Roose is evil though,
his only aspiration is control of the North and what he did wasn't for the benefit of the people, it was just the ripest opportunity for him to strike quickly. I hope he's burnt to death by Stannis, but odds are, it'll be the other way around.
Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto) aka the character that made me dislike anime FOREVER.
The MC from Persona 3, he's a douche no matter how you try and shape him.
And probably my favorite most hated fictional character:
Team Ninja's Samus (Other M)
Way to turn an icon already written as a good character, by turning her into a huge wimp.
