Borderlands.
Mostly because I didn't have anybody to play it with since my friends had bought it months before and were all too high level to play with me, and the single player wasn't all that great.
Pretty much the whole time I was playing it I felt like it was never really designed with single player in mind.

X Com UFO defense. Actually great game-when I was 12 in the mid 90s- thought I would buy it on steam and have a fun flashback. Some games survive time, some don't. Hopefully the new one coming out will save it.

Wow, I thought I hadn't played a lot of bad games....

Definitely Prototype. I mean, it wasn't horrible or anything, it just wasn't great. And eventually, extremely repetitive.

Technically I didn't buy it, but I won a free $20ish steam game of my choice from a contest thing a while back and decided to get Never Winter Nights 2. I thought it was a terrible game and couldn't get very far into it because of a game breaking bug that wouldn't let me complete a quest that I needed to continue.

For something I did actually buy I'd say Fable 3 (/GASP!!!). Spent $60 on the game and played it for maybe an hour before getting bored and never picking it up again then eventually giving it away when I sold my 360.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Final Fantasy 13 for the PS3 as well. Complete utter garbage and not even worth a third of the $60 I paid for it. The next Final Fantasy game I won't be buying instantly just because of being Final Fantasy. I will actually wait and see reviews and gameplay for it so that I don't get a repeat of that travesty.

Dead Rising 2, easily.

I don't have XBox Live, so I can't play with buddies. And I got stuck on a boss....So I REALLY don't know why in the world I still have it.

Easily Final Fantasy XII.
I'm not saying that it is a terrible game, just that after 6 hours I didn't want to progress anymore.

A few years ago our family, after a huge debate which I lost, got a Wii (instead of a 360). Trying to at least get something out of the sparkly white gamecube, I went out and got Zelda: Twighlight Princess and De Blob. Maybe Zelda just isn't my thing (first zelda game I've played), but I just couldn't get into the story or the gameplay. And De Blob, which I guess was kinda fun at first, got incredibly repetitive by the 2nd level. Definitely two of my worst buys ever.

But don't worry, I now have a 360. Life is good again.

Darksiders. I mean, I knew it was a console port, but I didn't realise it was going to be just a button-masher. God that game sucked.

Most likley White Knight chronicals since the game was broken to hell in every single way and like the majority Black ops was the 2nd worst buy.

I'll quote myself from a previous similar thread:
"It has to be Lost Planet 2. Sure, the VS and the VS weapons were great, but the horrible, HORRIBLE controls made me hate the game. After playing Vanquish for many, many hours of pure fun with awesome responsive controls, I can't even look at my LP2 game anymore."

I blindly bought it after a friend of mine praised it weeks before its release. Shame on me for not checking the facts before buying.

I will be seriously dating myself here, but...

Pac-Man for the Atari 2600. I got it for Christmas when I was around 6 or 7 and was all excited. It sucked. Hard. The arcade music was gone, the "wakka wakka wakka" of the titular character eating the dots was gone, the mazes were different and boring, and the colours were faded and bland. I was a very sad panda. But then I also got "Adventure" and was a very happy dragon-slaying panda :)

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII... I loved the game story, go ahead and tell me off for being one of the people who likes FF7. The game itself though was just too short, I beat it the day I got it then spent the next year replaying it over and over.

The Star Wars fan favorites 2 collection. Battlefront, Battlefront 2, and Republic Commando.

It was only after I got home I realized that I already had all of those games already.
