You're on a roll with these Fallout 3 threads.

My most surprising moment was meeting John Henry Eden.

Honorable mention goes to finding out The Family's secret.
That they suck blood like vampries?
Yep.

Mine goes to the fact i managed to cut out a fair chunk of the story by stumbling across the vault where my father happened to be kept, and me not knowing what the hell is actually going on. I made many speech selection mistakes by not actually knowing what was happeneing in there or who or what was in there.

Also the vault where everything went blue. You walk into a corrodor and see people walking into rooms to find no one there. I though my computer was glitching out. They did a good job on that.

When blowing up Megaton did not yield an equal number of missions. There I was thinking the developers that give two distinct paths (Good and Evil) would make them equal. Nope. Blowing up Megaton gives you about 3 missions with Tenpenny Tower, as opposed to all the missions you get in the Survival Book chain alone. And me without a save point prior. Sad day.
Well to be fair you can continue the survivor book if you nuke Megaton. You just have to meet up with Moria in Underworld.

Though it;s pretty lame that nuking Megaton is the only thing you do with Mr.Burk and Tenpenny. I thought you would have a whole chain of evil missions to do.
Yea me too. I was pretty upset with that.
on topic. I was surprised when I heard everyone around town say they didnt like Moriorty, and then when i killed him everyone hated me for it and tryed to kill me. Thats pretty shady Megaton

My most suprising moment was when the end cutscenes finished and I realised that the game had, indeed, ended.

I was surprised because the ending was horrible and instantly made me stop playing it. It also made me feel like everything I had done in the game was a complete waste of my time.

I guess all games are a waste of time, but this more-so. I was not a happy bunny.
So you should buy Broken steel it continues off the story and you can continue off that story

My most surprising moment is when I was near the Rileys Rangers camp, I walked through this sort of alleyway thing, only to hear beep, and shortly afterwards fly 2 miles into the air.

Second place goes to when I shot a behemoth with the victory rifle, and it did a backflip.

Heh... FO3 surprises...

The Town Secret of Andale. (cannibals) I kinda loled when they confronted me after I lockpicked their shed. Then I proceeded to slaughter the town for kicks.

My first encounter with Talon mercenaries... I got shredded and I was pretty good at that VAPOR or VIPER or... whatever the targeting thing was. They snuck up on me wearing a suit of power armor and wielding a laser rifle. Not fun.

And... wearing headphones, and I sneezed firing a fatboy... neverthe less... I simultaneously sneezed and crapped my pants because I shot the fatboy at the ground and the resulting loudkaboom in my ears was frightening.

When I got sniped randomly by that guy with sunglasses... I think I killed him and cannibalized his body for surprising me... but then again, I was on jet at the time.... so the blood in my hands and teeth can be described by both his body and 3 mole rats I woke up with.

Hmm. This is hard, had a lot of great moments from this game.
First thing that comes to mind is the day I met my first wild dog.
It was at a monument of sorts, it was bright in the morning and in the open.
I went up a stair while crouched and met him at the top, gave him a shotgun blast to the face.
What happened next was the physicsengine sent this dog flying in the air while the camera was following in slow motion as the poor dog lost it's head trying to touch the sun.

The following 5 seconds were spent with my jaw on the floor amazed by the slow motion extravaganza. I were then interrupted by the sound and sight of the body getting punted on the asphalt in front of me at high velocity shortly followed by it's head.

Mine came when I fast-traveled to vault 101, right after the game finished loading I got knocked off the cliff by a yao-guai (not sure if that's spelled right), scared me half to death.

Seeing a deathclaw. I had just helped the abolitionists to take over the Lincoln memorial and was going back to their old base to see what was left (and what I could loot). I fasttraveled there and a guy asks for help shortly before a demonic form comes rushing down the stairs and turns the guy into meaty chucks. I then precede to pour bullets into said beast and hope to kill the devil before the maw of hell opens below me. I killed it and took its hand and learned to respect the horned demon with sharp claws.

I found the body of Sidney's dad and the message he left her. Thought that was pretty moving actually.

Easy. When, after having busted my ass to broker a peace between the ghouls and the residents of Tenpenny Tower, I hear over the radio how apparently after I'd left the ghouls rose up and killed all the human residents, taking the place over for themselves. Oh, and I was taking the blame for the whole fiasco. That definitely caught me by surprise. Surprised and outraged. Marched right back there with a mind full of murder and set things right.

We made a deal, Roy.
*shotgun'd!*
YOU DON'T BREAK THE FUCKING DEAL, ROY!!

I was most surprised that after fighting through deathclaw after deathclaw in Old Olney Powerworks (from Broken Steel, doncheknow), I was genuinely happy to see the good 'ol Enclave again. I was then surprised at just how much a Heavy Incinerator hurts.

"Hey, a Heavy Incinerator! I think it's just a new flamethrower, it can't get me from all the way over ARGH GOD MY FLESH!"

I just had another surprising moment.

So I just downloaded Broken Steel, so me and Fawkes just started wandering across the watseland. Suddenly, I see the dreaded Albino rad scorpion creep out from behind a rock. I get nervous as it would attack any second, when suddenly I hear the sound of a Vertibird. An Enclave force lands right in front of me, consisting of 2 tesla troopers and a sentry bot. Luckily, they attack the Albino Rad scorpion. The scorpion charges towards them, when I suddenly notice that it's not alone. An entire family of rad scorpions are with it, with a little rad scorpion and a giant rad scorpion. They attack the Enclave, meanwhile I'm just launching fire balls into the crowd with my heavy incinerator.

The Albino Rad scorpion survived, but Fawkes quickly took off it's remaining health.

So I'm walking along, minding my own business (well, except for the couple of raiders, but damn it they shouldn't be standing in the way of my bullets), when all of a sudden three Talon mercs attack me from behind. So I spin around to take them out, and I'm attacked from behind my three damn raiders. So I kinda step to the side, thinking they'll battle it out. Well one of them has a rocket launched and smartly fires it at a nearby car. Car explodes, all six of them blown to bits.

I was literally showered with chunks.
Something like that happened to me near the bed and breakfast joint cept it was a talon merc squad, an outcast patrol, and a raider party all goign at it. It was pretty awesome to watch the carnage.
