No one really. I read Gamespot, IGN, Kotaku, Gamepro, and then stuff off Metacritic and try to compare what they say and see what they all liked and disliked and I go from there. If its a game I know that I am going to enjoy then I don't even bother reading the review, but I will check the scores just for fun,

I trust Moviebob (though that doesn't mean I always agree), and DSP on youtube as well as psychedelicsnake (also on youtube). Technically, the last two do playthroughs but they review the game as they play it.

I only listen to Angry Joe. That's if I even bother to listen to a review.
He seriously makes the most entertaining reviews of games possible.

I check out the reviews, but there's not a single person I actually trust. That would be silly, I trust my own judgement when MY hands are on the controller/mouse.

in my own experience, no reviewer has been consistent for me. Most reviewers have their own likes and dislikes too, and it comes through very clearly in the reviews most of the time. It's not so much that think they're full of crap, it's that everybody has diverging tastes. That and I know that I have a fairly eclectic taste to begin with.

So most of the time I would check maybe 3-4 sources and then just form my own opinion based on the aggregated response.

I use ign, but only agree with 2 or 3 of the reviewer, also I tend to agree alot with gametrailers.

Curious. How do you decide on purchases?
Good sir (or Ma'm), let me tell you about a system of yore that still goes on today. It's call video rental.

You young whippersnappers don't think outside the box.

None, I make up my own decisions and do my own research on games. I only buy like 1 game every 5 months, so usually I always make really careful purchases. If the game ends up being bad (which it usually isn't), I'll just return it or trade it in.

If your answer isn't Yahtzee you're wrong.

good or bad Yahtzee's honest.
He also exaggerates minute issues for the sake of comedy. Yahtzee is an entertainer first, and a reviewer second.

OT: Game Informer hasn't let me down yet.
As everyone else is quick to point out he's a Critic first and an entertainer second.
Apparently he's not a reviewer at all

where else can you go to hear what a game does poorly?
Everywhere else. Yahtzee is fucking hilarious, but he's also biased. I'll watch his reviews for the comedic value, and nothing else.

I only buy a game if I REALLY want it, not cause some dude that might have an agenda told me to. That, or because the game was super cheap on Steam.

Good Sir, I'm a PC gamer (as I originally posted). There's a reason why we're such a pissy lot when a demo isn't available. ;)

Really? Well, truth be told, I don't have any retailers around here (absolutely dependent on digital distribution) and never had much idea about the rental services. I always thought it was exclusive to the console market...

You just have to look... But to be fair, the guy that run the place is a money grabbing douche. He tried to sell a handicapped person (physically and not mentally) a copy of Gauntlet - Dark Legacy used for 156$ I don't go there when he work.

Edit: forgot to mention why didn't I... That's the worst part of the story. He's in a electric wheelchair and have 35% mobility with his arm and hand. He can play game as long as it involve only the face buttons. He can't use effectively the L1, L2, R1, R2.

I trust Good Game, a review show we have over here in Australia. I don't have to worry about them inflating their scores, because a 7 *is* a good score for them. Like it should be.

And I trust positive Yahtzee reviews, to a point- generally, I find, if he liked a game, it is at least worth checking out. Negative reviews, though? He's way to quick to decide he hates a game (Oftentimes not playing enough of it to make a fair review, though usually he tells us that), and I wouldn't have him any other way.

Wish we had PC rentals, though. Or any places with rental games from the past year or so.

Yahtzee. I've got limited space on my computer and Yahtzee rips every bad game to pieces while leaving the good ones mostly intact. He's my personal game filter.

I actually find his reviews rather awful. There have been several videos where he will bring up an "issue" with a game, and after I have played said game, have found that A) There was a reason that he didn't mention on purpose B) It wasn't that big of an issue or C) The issue wasn't really there.

If you base all your purchases on Yahtzee's reviews, you should only have like 6 game in your library.

Oh and he can't make up his mind about what he really wants from games. Bullet Storm comes to mind. He said countless times he wanted a fun shooter not based in reality. Then he gets one. And he complains about how they cuss alot. This from the guy who uses the word "cunting".
