Here is something interesting to consider. When we were heading into 2008 numerous people said it had no chance of even coming close to being as good as 2007. Now we are saying 2008 was great and 2009 will pale in comparison. Fact is, there are too many well experienced companies producing some hard hitting games this year for it to be a failure.

on that note, god of war 3, Uncharted 2, Prototype, Modern Warfare 2, FF13(if it comes out on time), Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Half-life 2: episode 3, Arkham Asylum, and No More Heroes 2.

(I would say Mad World, but that is already out...and awesome)

Edit: and no, I can't decide which one of those games I want more.

Thing is I don't like any of those games other than HL2: Episode 3 which is more likely to come out in 2010. I am not "numerous people."

I have seen the games that are coming out, and none of them interest me, as their prequels did not interest me. FF12 was disappointing, so I doubt FF13 will be any different (all thanks to the shitty new CEO at Square). Prototype might be nice, but then again, it might just be another overhyped game that fans will rage over how disappointing it was.

I guess Prototype.
If God of War 3 really is coming out this year than that; provided they don't overdo it with the QTEs.

Other than that, all my favorite franchises are getting spammed with DLC so I don't even know when I'll see another GTA or Burnout.

Starcraft 2. I'd say Diablo 3 but there's no way in hell that that game will be released this year. In fact, I doubt Starcraft 2 will, but it looks more 'done' than Diablo 3 does.

Red Faction Guerilla, Half life episode 3 (Im hoping), Infamous, and Arkham Asylum.
I reckon prototype looks way too similar to hulk: ultimate destruction.

Starcraft 2 and Uncharted 2. I was hoping for Jak and Daxter Lost Frontier, but since it is PSp and PS2, I think I'll pass.

I understand that, however there are other people on this thread that have said something to the same effect. Just because you were the one I quoted when I said this does not mean I was referring to just you as "numerous people". If you meant you thought 2008 would be better than 2007 than whatever, that's not the point. I was referencing the community as a whole in that instance.

Ok, that bothers me. Have you taken the time to see the new battle system from FF13, it looks more like the traditional FF style than 12. An even better point can be drawn from the fact that FF games are all disjointed and usually have quite a few differences in playstyle, story, etc.

The same can be said for every new IP that ever comes out. It's the line of thought that, "I should disregard this because it COULD be bad" that ruins the gaming market and leads to the only problem I have with the gaming industry this year...The number of 2's.

LOL, did you see the teaser trailer for MW2? it was horrible. yeah thats the game I am waiting for too, BTW alot of people still play 4, me and my boyfriend for example, but on average, I see 10,000 people playing team deathmatch, and average of 4000 ppl playing mercenary. The game I have mostly been waiting on for a year or so now is the new splinter cell... and Sims 3 :p

1. Infamous (just looks so much fun and actually original complete new experience)
2. Mass effect 2 (im a hopin. i love the plot and gameplay was very balanced out and possibly best written plot)
3. MGS5 (hoping again for it to come out)
4. Fight night round 4/UFC 09 (basically same game imo except we don't know what to expect from UFC)
5. Cod6 (oh god is this gonna be good)
