Death metal vocals. I hate death metal purely based on the vocals (although I'm not a huge fan of the instrumentation either). The singing usually sounds utterly ridiculous because the singer settles on a low unintelligible rasp and just repeats that for the entire goddamn song. As a result, the songs sound bland and generic.

If I'm in the mood to listen to metal screaming, I'd much rather listen to somebody like Dani Filth from Cradle Of Filth, who actually has some range with his voice. He can go from death metal screams to high-pitched squealing and everything in between.

OT: songs about partying... I don't think I have to describe myself... unless you're taking the piss out of it like the Electric Six it's just so damned terrible... I prefer there to be some form of emotional or artistic integrity in my music thank you very much...ಠ_ರೃ
even worse when the track itself is actually pretty decent

also 10K POSTS..I AM NOW A GOD AMONGST MEN
Which rarely happens... especially in today's pop scene... but I don't listen to pop anyway...<.<

Also, congrats... I was wondering when you'd hit 10,000 I know I've seen you around the forums quite a bit lately... your disturbing avatars usually catch my attention...<.<

OT: I came up with some more... the Verse Chorus Verse structure is really annoying and too predictable...

When a bands writing and studio sessions out stretch their ability to play... notable examples being Dragonforce and Dream Theater... who are both pretty bad live...<.<

a lack of passion... when a band just concentrates so hard on sounding good and appealing to people that they just lose all sense of personality...

Rap... well pretty much all modern mainstream rap is absolutely abysmal... with the exception of that one Kid Cudi track that was a hit a few years back...<.<

I saw this and you reminded me of songs that are stretched out for some solo's. Don't get me wrong, I like instrumental parts, but I dont need ten solo's in one song. (Unless we're talking about Hangar 18 haha)

Another pet peeve of mine happens with a lot of 'progressive' stuff. Sometimes I hear a really cool tune going on, and it's played only once in the entire thirteen-minute epic of parts that really don't do much for me.

Which reminds me of another one...

When solo parts are "written" and played the same every time... I dunno... but to me it betrays the idea of a solo when it's not made up on the spot... that's why I like J Mascis... cause he plays his guitar solos different literally every time... though there might occasionally be a little part that's the same...<.<

thanks

and I love me some Kid Cudi..(not a fan of day'n'nite though)

an example of a current pop song with NO annoying party raping/lyrics to ruin it (theres lyrics but they don't ruin the song)

Bad trigger samples on drums.

I mean I like this song actually but damn that bass is far too clicky.
*click play*
embedding disabled-watch on youtube
*ctrl+click*
internet explorer has blocked a pop up from escapistmagazine
*sigh*
allow once..refresh page

gorwling is also a thing for me..though I supose thats a personal taste thing (I just dont really get it)
It does not really belong here, but holding Ctrl+Alt temporarily disables the popup blocker. For any kind of popup technique.

What I can't stand in music is mostly women screaming nonsense out of tune (I am looking at you, Katy, Christina, Rihanna and actually about 90% of the RnB genre!)

Meh doesn't do a whole lot for me... I've heard it before... though I don't really count it as pop... but I suppose it's pretty good party(?) electric music... but I'm typically not a big fan of such things... I tend to list music as introspective, or art... so I like my music with more depth and passion...

I guess I'll just go back to my vaguely folkish, punk inspired, late 80's, underground, pre grunge, alternative...<.<

It adds power and intensity. Well, in my opinion. That's why I like it.
I also find it annoying. I like my power and intensity to come from a good set of pipes or from <youtube=jZNk35OJERI>

<youtube=cR2XilcGYOo>

OT: Bad remixes.

?

Katy is a triumph of applied autotune, and keeps her screeching to a minimum, and Rihanna doesn't fit your peeve in the slightest.

(Christina does, although that's her entire schtick.)

I know

point was that song could have been horribly mangled by Pit bull jumping in and rapping about the club

as it is its an incredibly addictive..[b/]inoffensive[/b] catchy tune that makes you want to dance

Heh and in there the problem lies...<.<

In being inoffensive it offends me... though I did think it was catchy and would definitely listen to it more... but I like music that isn't afraid to alienate certain sections of the population for their own personal pursuit of musical expression...<.<

Though yeah you have a point there... it was handled well for what it is...

Country - Rap...nuff said.
Holy shit, I've only heard rumors of such a thing. Could the abominable frankenstein monster of rap music perversely combined with country music seriously be real?

OT: Dubstep done in slow rap songs, as dubstep is best done to fast paced music. Korn did it best for me so far.
I think someone has mentioned generic love/party songs already as well.
Cowbells agrivate me to no end. I don't know why.
A song that starts off fantastic only to go down the tubes because the main chorus sucks.

The OP's listed most of the stuff that simply makes me squirm (ESPECIALLY #3) but a few, things I actually can't stand are thus:

1: Repetition. I don't mind a little, heck some of my favourite songs are the same melody repeated three times with different lyrics over the top. I'm talking more about when it's obvious the lyricist had to fill in some space, like when the singer sings the same word or even half a word 5 times. Baby-baby-baby, Para-para-paradise, Umbrella-ella-ella just to name a few that people will recognise as being nothing but incessant.

2: The obligatory rap portion of most non-rap songs today. My goodness, even "Hot Problems" has this! I know it's about selling to a particular market and in some songs it fits well enough to be forgivable but in others it's just out of context.

3: Clapping as part of the beat. You know, when every second beat is a clap with every other being a bass hit or something. "But that's in every rap and RnB song!" you say. Well then I guess you know my taste in music...

When they stick rap into a song. Into every single song. As in, I am enjoying my music, with the singer I like, then some random not-very-good rapper comes in, sings about something completely unrelated, usually about how awesome they are and something about hoes, and then the song continues.

Example:

Creepy screamo/growling instead of singing. I will never understand why people would listen to something they can't understand and sounds silly.
I concur with this TO A DEGREE, im not going to outlaw all screaming, because when used as a musical tool to add strength/meaning to certain points in a song thats fine. Its the constant stuff i don't understand,
I am a hypocrite. I do listen to some screamo songs, but that's only cause the riffs are good. I just wish they would get a good singer instead.

What's a good example of strength and meaning screaming/growling? I'm interested to know.

For me, sampling (unless the song being sampled is referenced within the lyrics)

this ticks me off:

This I don't mind:
