I have, as a matter of fact, two definations of nerd in the encyclopedia that is my brain:

Positive: The kind of smart guy who does some odd things now and again, but is still well liked.

Negative: World of Warcraft. Need I say more?

Here goes:

1- I used to Play Warhammer 40k and still keep my army as a momento (Space Marines are the best, there is no arguing with that).
2- I've read more graphic novels than regular books (and that is far more, not just a slight lead).
3- Whenever it comes to photos with friends I am always the one taking the picture (I'm a pretty good photographer if I do say so myself).
4- I like ninjas...who doesn't?
5- I find people with glasses to be attractive.
6- I have planned out what I'm going to do in the event of a zombie genocide.
7- I sometimes ad-lib my own dialogue while playing video games (I find my own stuff funnier than the serious lines that you hear in-game).
8- I write on a gaming forum and have posted game reviews upon said forum.
9- I am socially inept and haven't had any girlfriends...ever (don't cry for me...it's actually pretty funny).
10- I look like a typical nerd/geek (pale enough to act like a prisim, t-shirt with game logo and baggy trousers and a genral miasma of awkwardness).

I'd say all that makes me almost painfully nerdy.

You wouldn't happen to write avant guard novels in your spare time, and observe modernism with an air of irritation too? Because if so, you get an award for being pretentious with extreme style.

Yeah... they usually do that... especially if you wander into the romantic realms, that's a scary place

Since Heroes I stopped looking at hornrimmed glasses as something geeky, but something to be respected...

Dude, I think you just won.

I don't like Star Trek but I'm still impressed.
There's more; I actually went to a qepHom (gathering of Klingon speakers) in another country.

Considering I live in Holland and 99% of the people in Holland don't know the name: Naruto, I can be considered a nerd somehow. Also reading plenty of other manga (Berserk, Flame of Recca, Bleach, Eyeshield 21, One Piece, etc), thus adding to my nerd-status in Holland.
Also playing the few availeble hardcore titles on the wii give me strange looks from the wii-fit crowds.
Enough nerd to know the ending song of Portal. I actually enjoy reading, having 10/10 scores in english class, I draw 3-panel comics for fun, I write for a local newspaper....guess the criteria for being a nerd in Holland are less hard then elsewhere.

I'm a true "undercover"-geek. No one actually knows I am one, but I am. I totally don't look like one; I don't even have glasses =P
I'm pretty much this too. I'm one of the most geeky people at my school, and nobody really knows because I don't make it apparent that I RP, etc.

Really? Cool, I'll leave the door unlocked; just let yourself in. Can you wake me up when you all get here? I don't want to miss the party.

Well, yeah, there are Klingon speakers all over the world. (Although less than there used to be thanks to the recent decline of Star Trek..) Most of them are in America, of course, but there's also significant (relatively speaking) interest in the Klingon language and/or culture in countries like Sweden and Germany. I myself have also met jatlhwI'pu' (speakers) from Poland and even Brazil!

-I'm what you would call a 'Dwarfer'. I'm a massive fan of Red Dwarf and I can quote about every line from the show

-I'm still a fan of Pokemon

-I have lots of video game, movie, TV show and anime memorabilia (figurines and such)

-The internet is my home

-I watch Anime and read Manga

-I bought an Ocarina after playing Ocarina of Time

-I'm a big Hitchhiker's Guide fan

-I know most of the words to the Japanese opening of One Piece

-I refer to myself as a TacoNinja In Cognito

-I have definitely cried during a video game, anime, book and TV show.

That'll do won't it?

Carrier has arrived - that's genius

Oh and my list - here goes:
1. As a proud word nerd I HATE it when people misspell things and I correct people's grammar and vocab all the time.
2. I work for a software company
3. I'm ginger - in the UK that earns me major geek points
4. I'm female so I guess I lose geek point there but given that I measure most of my activity in 'geek points' I'm sure that balances things out.
5. Most of my speech is film/TV/game quotes
6. A friend and I invented a game whereby we give each other relatively obtuse movie quotes and the other one gets a cookie if we guess correctly (IMDB is cheating)
7. I've always thought men who are good with computers were hot; better still those that could build one/code/understand networking/the internet/Linux or any other computer language for that matter.
8. I married a network architect and I think that's hot
9. I used to be able to speak elvish better than I can speak French (but that isn't much of a boast)
10. My wedding present was an Xbox largely because I couldn't cope with having a hubby that wasn't in to gaming so I thought I could 'change' him - we completed Halo 3 together over Xmas and we are currently working on GOW2
11. I think playing games together is a good way to strengthen a relationship. If it's painful/results in arguments then they aren't the right person for you.
12. My ringtone for a year was the theme song to TBG
13. My ringtone last year was the theme song to quantum leap
14. I have a fairly reasonable collection of gaming/geek tshirts/apparel, my favourite of which are a pair of undies with a log in prompt on them & a tshirt that says 'talk nerdy to me'
15. I am a sci-fi nut and most recently I have been addicted to Firefly/Serenity - I bawl my eyes out every time Wash dies!!!
16. If I weren't already married I'd date Hellboy
17. My hubby and I recently debated how appropriately fortified our home would be in the event of a Zombie attack.
18. Most of my life most of my friends have been boys giving weight to the idea that I too don't really understand women (not exclusively a geek trait I know, but I just feel much more at home discussing the continuity issues in Back to the Future than "who's doing who and in which shoes")
19. I tried (but failed) to get the entire bridal party at my wedding to have a group photo in diggnation tshirts but hubbies never watched it!! and only one of our groomsmen was up for it - I still WANTED to do it though.
20. The fact that I could get to number 20 surely is proof in and of itself. I realise you all probably could but for brevity's sake decided to keep your post's short and snappy - I on the other hand have no such self control.

;o)

I get annoyed at people who reach for a calculator for simple problems, take 20 seconds to work it out the first 10 times and then the rest of the time its faster to do it in your head.

I watch anime regularry and have watched around 500 hours.

I have over 100 posts on atleast 4 different internet forums.

I have 3 characters in WoW lv 70 or above.

Take your pick, they're all as nerdy as the others i reckon

So lets be honest here the majority of us will admit that we are nerds. My question is what is your defining nerd trait? Are you moved during Aregorn's speech in helms deep? Dose the way you talk and act change when you have been RPing? Have you ever shed a tear for the death of a beloved character in a novel? Do you refer to yourself as a pirate or ninja? Well I will be first and say that all of these thing are truly nerdy things that I do/ have done. So what about you?
Prefer the term geek, nerd implies I know something. Don't have a defining trait. I was more moved by the Salarian speech in Mass Effect. Never been Rping. I cried a little when Thick had his whistle stolen at one point in the Tawny Man, something about stealing a kid with down syndrome's last tie to his gypsy mum got to me. That about somes it up...

Edit: I do whenever say walking somewhere and bored, imagine myself as X character in Y world, depends on the game I'm playing at the time.
I read that series as well and felt bad for Thick myself. But I was even more moved by certain events in the Wheel of Time series, such as Moraine's letter to Rand after her encounter with Lanfear at Cairhein and Perrin coming back to Emond's Field after the Whitecloaks had got to his family.

That last one especially got to me.

I don't know that I have a particularly nerdy trait. (I did play a lot fo tabletop RPGs when I was younger and still do once in a while.) I am proud to say I'm just a big dork in general. Although I have read The aforementioned series literaly dozens of times. I read it every time a new book is about to come out and usually a couple of times in between.

i wanna be a webcomic artist, but at this point my only option would be to use ms paint, which i really hate. dont have any other art programs and my scanner sucks so i cant draw by hand. i cant stop thinking about it though, because i already know what i would do. you have no idea how annoying it is. i watch british tv a lot, especially monty python, to the point that im starting to use british spelling and even getting a slight accent, not to mention i am starting to see things from a british point of view and seeing how wierd america really is. i like to add a game characters thoughts when i play, like freemans mind. and i like to imagine what i would be like as a video game character, vg cats style, with similar results to what they would do because i just have a wierd sense of humour.
