So I often hear a good friend of mine complain about Rockstar, he compares them to Peter Molyneux with all of his empty promises.

I want to know what others say about the company, their games aren't really the issue here, just just whether you think they are as good as some think, or if you hate them.

Just putting this out there, DON'T go all fan-boy on me, or say how you want to buy anthrax and stamps, they're two sides of the same extremist coin.

I've never had much problem with Rockstar breaking promises, mostly because I can't exactly remember any.
But I enjoy their games, I'll but the next GTA regardless of any negative reviews it may get and Red Dead Redemption is one of my favourite games of all tiem so I'm fine with them.

(And I know they made Midnight Club and ping pong games but I haven't played them)

I like Rockstar (and I'm not just saying that because they are based 20 miles away in Leeds and can kill me), the games are all suitably long and well written and they balance humor with story, both GTA IV and RDR had their fair share of funny characters and none of the seriousness was lost.

I have no complaints about them to be honest, they make games, they are of a good/decent length plus lots of little distractions, I play them, I enjoy them, everybody has done their job.

Rockstar is one of my favourite game developers. I'm always entertained by their games. Sure, they have their fair share of annoying bugs and the like, but the general experience is always positive, so I keep coming back.

I feel they've lost their fun streak.

It started with GTA4 and continued throughout Red Dead Redemption.

Bully was the last Rockstar game I actively enjoyed because it still had that fun and goofy nature.

Tastes like ass.

Oh, wait. Them.

Rockstar is cool. At least, up until they stopped releasing PC games?! San Andreas took a good while. I was skeptical after that, but they pulled through with GTA4.

I was really disappointed to miss out on RDR for PC, though. I played GUN and that was really awesome, so I was really hoping RDR would come to the PC even if it would take another long delay that Rockstar tends to do.

Yet, nothing... No RDR for me. I sure hope LA Noire will come to PC, though I'm no longer expecting anything from Rockstar.

I love their games but I have a few little niggles:

1. They need to move on from using tired old stereotypes like Irish and Little Jacob

2. The controls in their games don't feel as intuitive to me as other modern games. The turning circles are too big and movement generally feels awkward and clumsy.

3. Difficulty spikes, escort missions and shitty on-rails missions.

Yeah, that's probably my favourite RS game ever. Such a great game full of wonderful atmosphere and humour.

Rockstar depresses me. I remember playing GTA: San Andreas for the first time and being blown away by the size and scope of the world, the smoothness of the gameplay and how well the story was told... and wishing they'd use all that for something other than sensationalist, intentionally 'controversial' gangster posturing.

I think they make good games. I just wish they'd step outside their comfort zone a bit more and stop with the macho gangster shit.

The driving in GTA4 is amazing, though. I love it. Works really well with a keyboard.

The vehicle sounds on the other hand... They all sound very synthesized. Awkward. Wrong. A sports car shouldn't sound like vacuum cleaner with a gearbox.

One of my favorite developers. Love Bully, GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption. They also make DLC that's absolutely worth it.

Plus, it had one of the greatest videogame antagonists: Gary.

Now it feels like Rockstar just wants to make movies or TV series, like The Sopranos or Madmen. Which are brilliant shows, but when I play a videogame I need something with a bit more pizazz.

They pretty much gave the finger to PC users and that's what I play on, so I guess I'll give them the finger too.

I'm not a great fan of the gameplay - I'm not quite sure why - but Rockstar make the best open worlds.
Period.
Everyone else, and that includes Just Cause, Far Cry, Saints Row etc. are horrifically inadequate children compared to Rockstar when it comes to creating a sandbox, even with the 'Oh but its too serious' criticism. They are simply too good at creating worlds.

Also, in my personal opinion, the GTA series is the best piece of satire in the 21st century.
And I can't bring myself to dislike people who write that well.
