As we all know, the upcoming 3D Sonic game, Sonic Forces, will allow you to create an OC to fight alongside the two Sonics. For anyone getting the game when it comes out, what's your plan for your Original The Character?

I'll start, I'm gonna make the most badass version of Winnie The Pooh this side of the version in Winnie The Pooh Home Run Derby.

Good luck in making Winnie the Pooh - bears aren't among the available species. (edit: Huh. Turns out they are. Never mind.)

Anyway, assuming I get Sonic Forces, I'd just go with the default and/or try and have the red wolf that's been seen mostly. I've no desire to relive the days of my youth when I created Sonic OCs (technically one OC) just for the sake of it, and if the game's really pushing this angle, I'll just go as close to canon as possible.* Yes, Sonic is among the settings I've written for on ff.net, and I've had fun skewering Forces,** but still, I see OCs as a means to an end, not an end in themselves, which I feel is how many Sonic fans see them. I wouldn't mind so much if there was some variety in said OCs, but no, if your OC isn't a hedgehog, they're almost certainly going to be a mammal of some kind.***

Well, I can't fault Sega for knowing their fanbase at least. 0_0

*A theory I've seen floating around is that the Avatar was meant to be the Boomverse Sonic, given how they both have grapple abilities, but was scrapped after Rise of Lyric bombed. To be frank, I'd rather have Boomverse Sonic in it, because not only would that be preferable to an OC, but the Sonic Boom cartoon is pretty decent.

**https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12496721/1/Avatar and https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12486144/1/The-Hills-Are-Always-Greener being examples (shameless plug)

***And is it just me, or did the Archie comics actually pull this off? I have a feeling that the reason people love Eclipse so much (far as I can tell anyway) is that he's an original character whose relationship to Shadow isn't hackneyed, and he isn't another bloody hedgehog.

In that case, this rumor post has the closest the Custom Hero has to a name:https://board.sonicstadium.org/uploads/monthly_2017_03/buddy.png.612c66f14337d85e81896f2c6351bcec.png

Though, to be fair, "Buddy" is probably just a way to refer to them while still remaining ambiguous as to their name (like how the protagonist of Saint's Row is referred to as "Playa" or "Boss").

There are just so many options, I might have to do an entire video just making OC's to go fight Infinate the Edgehog.

"Buddy the Wolf?" Truly a name worthy of being held in the same annals of "Sonic the Hedgehog," Miles "Tails" Prower, and "Knuckles the Echidna.

Then again, it's nothing like "Shadic" so hey, I guess that's a win.

Oh god, now I'm having flashbacks to all those god awful edgehog OC's.
Like in Sonic Dreams Collection? (though those are lesser examples, since there's little customization in that).

No, the fan art all over the net (and deviant art in particular) of peoples often unfitting dark OCs from when sonic was really popular.

Do they allow bears in sonic land? Spiders? Spiderbears?? I drew a spiderbear once. Maybe I'll just play with that in the corner of my dingy basement.

Well, bears are a playable race in the game, and you can use a grappling hook to swing around like Spiderman.

Sonic Forces looks mediocre, again.

I'm playing Mania instead. In small part because Sonic isn't a lanky, long-haired, talking punk anymore.

The only good Sonic voice was Jaleel White.
Roger Craig Smith, that is all.

So, IF I bought Sonic Forces, what would my custom character be like?

Cue the "OW THE EDGE" memes, because he's going to be a walking Warhammer 40K reference.

Issodon the Raven. Little is known about him, but his personality is known: cold, logical, pragmatic. It's also widely known that the color of his feathers is not natural; rumors say he's constantly using various dyes to color himself in order to blend into scenery better, stalking from the shadows without making a sound.

He has one simple goal in mind: Kill Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, and destroy every one of his mechanical abominations that gets in the way. Anything else is not his concern. He... "tolerates" the aid he receives from Sonic & company, but would rather them leave him alone. That said, while he won't go out of his way to save others, he will at least not make their situation worse if he can help it; and if saving an orphanage helps him get to a better firing position, he'll do it without hesitation.

*sigh* Yeah, I think I just made every cringe detector in the universe explode. I'll be in debt for that the rest of my life... Dammit.

My oc would be a cross between Dante and Gene (from God Hand).

Depends on why he wants to do it I suppose. If it's out of some zealous duty "For the Emperor" then that would tone done the edge a bit. A guy like that could pass as Lawful Neutral. Far less cringey than the "No one understands me! I hate everyone!" kind of edge.

The closest I've come to the Sonic franchise is the first 3 games at my friend's house 20 years ago, and Freedom Planet, but this actually sounds kind of fun.

I have one anthro character in my roster of OCs from the D&D universe who was an ambassador to a very small but growing empire of lizard folk. They're obsessed with acting civilized by outsider standards and breaking away from their tribal roots, which means lots and lots of clumsy and awkward cultural appropriation from more advanced civilizations, run by humans, elves, dwarves, etc.

The ambassador deeply respects the empress, but is reluctant to abandon the old lifestyle, where she didn't have to wear confining dresses, speak formally, change her name, and live up to a bunch of other standards pilfered from other cultures.

In-game she would do anything that served to further the interests of the empire, by establishing alliances. She probably wouldn't take much interest in helping those who are too insignificant to benefit the empire in any way. On the other hand, she treasures those rare moments when she doesn't have to be the face of the empire, and may let self-interest guide her actions when she's not in some capital city or speaking to someone important.

Whether or not I could make that fit into the Sonic universe is beyond me.

Well, he's mainly in it to, well, you remember one of the things Dr. Mordin Solus said right before he left Omega aboard the Normandy SR-2, right? Well, Issodon sees his duty to the people of his world is carried out best by "removing" dangerous people from it.

And by "removing"... You know what I mean.
