So, let's say your computer is busted. You lost everything. All the games, all the software and all those morally ambiguous pictures of your ex-girlfriend.

Anyway, you manage to get a new computer, on the same platform as your old one (XP, Vista etc.) Everything is still gone. What are the first 3 things you install?

I just had my laptop almost die on me; I panicked so much about losing all my lectures. I know I can't install lecture notes, but rather, I'd install some program that allows me to somehow enter my computer and retrieve the notes through an intense and epic adventure, fighting crime and viruses along the way.

Steam would certainly be my fourth, Windows Live Messenger fifth, but my internet browser, anti-virus system and music is most important to me.
