That's a long title I know but it works perfectly for me since my moment is pretty much both of these:
It was many years ago and I was at my cousin's house playing his PS2. We were currently playing, me for the first time, Dynasty Warriors 3.
He and I, as Zhang Fei and Zhao Yun respectively, had just finished carving our way through the Yellow Turban rebellion pretty much single handedly and we were feeling like Billy Badasses. The next battle starts and we begin carving our way through hordes of no-name soldiers until a particular cut scene plays introducing the one and only...Lu Bu.
Once the scene finished we saw that he pretty much destroyed the force of Yuan Shu. So we decided to go down there and teach him a lesson. (Keep in mind neither of us had been playing very long. We had no idea who this guy was.)
After about five minutes of running we had finally caught up to him. Five seconds later we were both just sitting there saying "This was such a bad idea!" as Lu Bu had swatted us away like flies, then proceeded to completely steamroll us before we knew what the hell happened.
We learned very quickly from then on that if this guy so much as came within the same quadrant of the map as us we run away, fast!
This ties almost directly into my own "Now it's personal!" moment because from then on I swore I would take Lu Bu down eventually. A few months of stat building later (I didn't go over to my cousins house that often.), I took him on one-on-one with Zhao Yun and, after a few hit and runs, was able to finally kill that bastard. It felt...satisfying.
So, my fellow escapists, do you have any good "OH GOD! THIS WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA!" or "Now it's personal!" gaming moments to share?
