You're implying I have a philosophy on life?

Y'know, it's funny, people keep mentioning him (her? Socrates could be a female name, i'm not sure) whenever I say something philosophical, yet I don't know much of him. I've heard of him, but not studied him. Either I'm the victim of some meme I've never heard of, I'm subconsciously absorbing philosophical teachings, or he's an ancient ancestor of mine or something.

And yes, a bit of a paradox, but you get my meaning.
Ancient greek philosopher. Kind of the guy who made it cool to sit in the park and think deep thoughts. (And ask annoying questions)

You can't sum it up in less than ten words.

Socrates right?
Descartes. I think therefore I am. You only know that your consciousness exists, because there needs to be a thinker to do the thinker. Otherwise, there's no way to be 100% sure that anything else is real.

Everything and everyone strives towards perfection. Yet we cannot escape-

Ten word limit reached. Last word is up for you to decide.

Because we could be in the Matrix at this very instant!

Well he chalked it up to a 'great deceiver' of some sort: a less-than-benevolent god. The idea was that, because this entity can control all time and space, as an omnipotent god would be able to, then it could at any moment be tricking our consciousness into believing anything.

Or we could be in the Matrix, yeah.

But the way you've phrased it makes it seem a paradox. If we know nothing...then we don't know that we know nothing...then we can think we know something = trouble ensues.

OP: A combination: "It's just a ride....why so serious?"

He's an ancient Greek philosopher, known for showing how full of shit people were through his questioning method (now known as the socratic method).

I don't have a real opinion on life, the universe and everything because I don't understand it. Maybe I will a little bit when I've lived a bit more.

I always find myself wondering...would I be like Cypher and choose a hedonistic simulation or painful reality?
