You might be flagged for brevity..., friend. You may want to add a few sentences. Even if you really don't have anything more to say, you should still add some sentences onto the end. I cannot stress that enough.

I like how your post consists of less content than mine, yet padded out to paragraph length. I'm not entirely clear on whether the joke was intentional, though.

Keep in mind that the guideline is low content, not brevity. Low content padded out is, IMO, still low content.

Nonetheless, I suppose I could expand a little on my original point. The truth is... I have no idea why people date people who treat them poorly. It seems to me to be a self-evidently terrible idea, and yet it seems so common as to be virtually normal. Like, I'm the weird one for insisting that my romantic interests treat me decently. My own mother seems to be genuinely annoyed that I managed to marry someone who's nice to me. I think she was hoping I'd marry someone who'd take over for her in the nagging department.

So, here's the thing. Life gets stressful. Marriage gets stressful. Money issues get notoriously stressful. Child rearing gets especially stressful. And stressed people... Well, they don't exactly get nicer, as a general rule. You are basically guaranteed that things are going to get harder at some point during a long term relationship. (And better, too.)

So, if your baseline is already that they don't treat you very well, are they going to cross the line when the going gets genuinely tough? I've seen so many marriages fail.

He was just trying to give a friendly warning, even included the word "friend". Seems a tad harsh to immediately turn around on him and say his post was worst.

Also, as someone who has been in an abusive relationship, it may seem simple to the outsider who gets to look into the relationship without any of those fuddy duddy emotions, but it's a lot more difficult from the inside to figure out if they're being abusive or you're being too sensitive and so on. Abusers tend to be very good at messing up your internal twat radar and breaking you down Full-Metal-Jacket-Training-Section style.

Dear Chinese Public,

I understand that I am white and foreign and very interesting. But that really doesn't mean you're allowed to walk up to me and ask for free English lessons and then get insulted when I really don't want to give free English lessons for much the same reason that an artist doesn't give out free paintings to every person they know.

Also, if you want to look, just look. I'm not that interesting and you can have your fill of me and then be bored. But don't sit there and look at me from the corner of your eye, don't start talking about me and assuming I don't understand 因为我明白你。我也会说普通话！ Also, saying horrible things is appreciated less.

Also, if the subway is full, please wait 4 minutes to get the next one. Don't just lower your shoulder and force your way on. Everyone thinks you're a twat for doing that.

Also, a queue is a queue. Can you please stay in the queue rather than immediately all run to the front and start elbowing and pushing your way forward over old people and children?

Finally, to all the poor Chinese immigrants in Shanghai, please learn the basics of living here. Learn some Mandarin rather than your own dialect, learn how to use a cash machine, stop haggling in major brand shops, please brush your teeth, and please stop trying to touch my hair with your dirty hands just because it's not black and straight like yours.

Also, to the men of China... a combover looks terrible. Even Mao Zedong didn't do that. Please stop. You're convincing no one.

Dear Other Foriegners in China,

Please don't date 18 year old woman when you're 50 years old, fat and balding. It reflects very badly on the rest of us and we don't have a good reputation as it is.

Also, don't go around practising one night stands or "hit it and quit it"s. Yes, a few of the Chinese are into that, but many think that having sex is equivalent to a semi-marriage proposal and you've basically stated that you're in it for a long haul. Again, you're making us all look like shit, and I have a family in law to convince I am a nice guy.

Also, you're not in the U.S, you're not in France or Korea, learn some bloody Mandarin.
