What relevance does that have to this thread?
He is saying metal is his reason for existing.

I pity him.

Mine is for a significant other.
That is pretty pitiful. Ah well. I suppose as long as he's occupied, eh?

Pretty much this. I tend to be quite apathetic; it's very hard for me to motivate myself, and I have a tendency to not really care about anything. I can honestly be quite depressive sometimes. Then I met my girlfriend and everything changed. I had an actual reason to care; a reason to not just say "screw it", and give up on everything. Now I can motivate myself, knowing that when I'm done, she'll be there waiting for me.

I'm well aware that that made me sound like a hopeless romantic, but that's the way it is.

He's basically spent all his time on that thread insulting everyone's taste in metal and flaming Sparrow Tag. He saying that that's his purpose in life.

OT: I think my purpose is just to exist, and make people remember me, what I say and what I do. Other than that, I can't think of much else other than to live.
That's sad. I remember an Escapist when we weren't constantly under siege from trolls and general twats.
Sadly, I joined too late to experience that time, but I've heard stories about it. Stories of a legendary land of peace and happiness where no one did anything wrong. Stories where you didn't need to say "Report and move on" or "Use the search bar" regularly. Brings a tear to my eye when I hear about it.

Wow, no wonder she must steady herself on the window sill. How can she even stay upright?!

Anyway, for me personally it's to help other human beings, serve society in a useful manner and (later on) spread my genes.

it's his reason.
The guy flamed everyone on that thread saying it wasn't 'real metal' because he doesn't like any of those bands and artists. So his reason to live is apparently being a douche.

As for me, it's acting, and to a slightly lesser extent, film-making. And indie music. Well, indie everything really :D

It was quite nice. I was but a tearaway fool, until the people changed me.

The more important question would be, what gives our lives meaning or purpose (on a local scale).

That is more or less what I was asking. It's logical to assume that whatever gives someone's life meaning/purpose (as an individual) is their reason for leaving. It's just a very slight difference in general meaning.

tl;dr: We live because there is not enough pressure to make us want to NOT live.

Even simpler; we live because the alternative is not acceptable.

Which is an answer to my question. I like it also.

Same. At the start, I was just another random poster, who would just post about things that weren't logical and stupid, but these people (Like Trivun and Cpt_Oblivious) showed me the light, and I realised where I was wrong and sent myself in the right direction.

God bless em' ;D Speaking of whom it is funny how we have our select group of well known posters, like Trivun and Cpt_Oblivious, as well as Max, D_987 , etc.
