To get athletics or sneak up, just keep your character running into a wall (press 'Q' on PC for auto-run).

Max out stealth, complete all Thieve's and Assassin's guild quests then ... that's about it really ... after that, I am pretty much able to sneak up to people, head on and in broad daylight.

My Nord Warrior basically has a Shield with high Reflect Damage in combination with very high defense stats and health, so if she blocks, the opponent dies long before she does. This works with ridiculous giant enemies and bosses, too. So basically, anything that uses melee on her isn't a threat at all. And mages? That's what her Dawnfang and Ring of 100% Fire Resistance are for. And spell absorbing amulet.

People say that this sort of thing breaks the game. However, nothing, save console cheating, really is cheap enough to easily beat enemies at the highest difficulty setting, to my knowledge.

I should correct my last statement, adding this phrase: except this.

Combination of max stealth, acrobatics and speed.
I then use a Glass Longsword that absorbs health from the enemy.
I called it 'Sword Of Healing'. I've never died while using it :D it's so cheap.

100% chameleon with 100 sneak and 150 lock pick, from the unbreakable lockpick.

I beat every thieve's guild and dark brotherhood mission in about an hour.

100 drain health for 3 seconds on a ebony or deadric longsword.

Enough drain, and long enough for another hit to kill who ever you are attacking.

My character is lvl 37 with a 55 blade skill (thats not that high) and like 95 strength, the sword is better that any already enchanted weapon you can get from the game damage wise(including enchantment)*. Unless you get the crusader's sword.

*I mean this as for the level and stats I have right now. Of course something like Golbrand (Goldbrand?) would be more powerful than it if my blade skill was 100 compared to the sword at blade = 55

Did anyone play it without cheating?

At the moment I've just got awesome stealth/acrobatics skills. (Jumping whilst running everywhere and stealth everywhere inside)

Haven't really done any of the actual quest yet, just (almost) the whole Thieves Guild line.

On the 360, I have a sword that paralyzes for 1 second.
It doesn't sound like much, but they have to fall down, and then get back up before attacking. And by then I've hit them again. So it's like they are constantly paralyzed, and it doesn't use that much enchant power. I love it.

It works well on bows too, since it'll take them forever to reach you.

I play for real.

So no 100% chameleon.

No cheats.

Just me with overpowered weapons.

I fucking love Ruins Edge.

85% damage resist, 85% damage reflect.

85% of damage gets reflected, of the 15% that gets through, 85% gets stopped by my DR.

Mostly I can just stand around and let enemies beat themselves to death on my mighty form.

I often use the spawn item glitch to create a tidal wave of watermelons or human hearts to smother my foes.

It's as effective as it is hilarious.

Mostly just very high Stealth, Marksman and Alchemy skills. Since the surprise attack bonus also multiplies enchantment and poison damage, almost anything goes down with a single poisoned arrow from one of my enchanted bows. My armour is mainly enchanted with Detect Life to a pretty large radius, though I do sometimes swap some pieces out for Reflect Damage in a pinch.

Strategy in Oblivion? Oh lawdy...

Pull the difficulty down, and back pedal firing spells and arrows into the enemy. Nooby, but easy.
