If I see a first aid kit I often just run in and grab it, failing to notice the giant fire breating gorilla waiting about ten feet away.

Yeah reloading after each kill was a pretty big problem for me i kinda got over it after my one millionth death in L4D but i still do it ocasionaly >:{.
also if i see something i want like ammo or wep upg bombs etc, even if i dont need it immediatly, and even if i know theres a good chance theres something near it that will want to kill me, i just cant help it i HAVE to go after it :S

For some reason on MW2 I keep randomly knifing, it's not like I'm clicking the button down but I keep doing it and *RAGES* it annoys me to say the least.
I always do this.

I get too excited and try to turn too hard, hence clicking down the stick by mistake.

It looks funny watching killcams where I appear to be trying to knife a dude that's 20 yeards away...
YES! It's so aggravating too because I don't notice I'm clicking the stick down. Kinda gets frustrating.

1. Trying to finish with a nice move in fighting games: I insist so much on getting a flashy ending that I die trying, even if I have an almost full health when I start trying.

2. Using the unpopular options: I want to play games my way and show some creativity, and it ends up killing me in any games that doesn't take game balance into account.

3. Stopping doing something because it works too well: If I realize that every time I do something, it works and leads me to victory, I will switch to a new tactic. I don't like playing cheap, and as I said, I feel the need to be creative in my games.

But then I get frustrated and realize that I want a few victories, so I lose these habits for a few rounds, dominate for a time, then go back to my habits, as I've proven a point to myself that I am able to win.

And now I just realized that all of these habits are because I'm trying to prove something to myself.

haha... I share these traits.

I have utterly dominated one or two games of MW2 by camping like a little ***** up top of the warehouse on Quarry... but it's never satisfying so I usually just say fuck it and rush...

Or when I get really good with a gun, I'll move on to the next one to try get good with that...

Both of which of course result in immmediate death. But hey... at least it's fun.

Playing Single Player like a play Multiplayer. ie. Running and jumping like a schizophrenic rabbit on ecstasy and firing from the hip. This doesn't usually go over that well with the NPCs that can blow off my head with the least accurate gun in the history of games from 3 kilometers away.
They can do that with a Klobb!? Jesus! If computers can do that, then who knows what the real T-1000 will be able to do! lol

I play through FPS games very slowly and methodically, making sure very fight ends with me losing as little ammo or health as possible. Obviously, this doesn't work too well in Team Fortress 2.

I depend too much on Melee attack, and ignore ranged completely, even when ranged is a viable option. And furthermore, I run straight in and just start attacking wildly.

I don't use support magic or items unless something makes a point of needing it. On Elder Scrolls, I keep a bunch of potions around, wasting inventory space, even though I don't ever use them. They could mean a difference between life and death, but I just barrel in and slash away.

Also, When I've been horribly slaughtered by a strong boss, I assume it was just a bad run and do the same thing, figuring I could do better next time.. nope. DEAD wrong.. with emphasis on the "DEAD"

Reloading. Even when I'm carrying a light machine gun and haven't used a quarter of the ammo "I might need to unload it all in a helicopter..."

And being too patient. Waiting silently in the grass can reap many rewards... or just leave you lonely when everyone runs to the opposite side of the map...

Oh and shooting when I should be stabbing...

I seem to be another sufferer of the 'instant reload regardless of situation' just like everyone else.

Another couple are.

Misjudging when I can melee kill an ememy, usually I try it and they aren't weak enough and just blow my head off.

And picking the worst time to switch weapons usually leaving me with no weapon out and someone running right at me.

I had the same problem with 2 and 3, but also got rid of the habit of throwing grenades right when the enemy is rushing you, resulting in getting shot in the face multiple times. Also I'm trying to stop using shotguns on large maps.

It sounds stupid but I aim, as opposed to shooting from the "hip" I always, no matter how close, aim.

If they run round a corner at the same time I do, I always lose due to me aiming.

What stupid habits can you never seem to break out of?

Personally I have three, all multiplayer related:

1. I get too eager to get to the action and run around corners, usually straight into a ninja with a P90 or a sniper bullet to the head.

2. Every time I get a kill I automatically, habitually hit reload (even if my clip is almost full) and THEN sprint away after the reload animation finishes.

3. Revenge-rushing on campers. Instant double-humiliation.
Same for me, except the first.

That can be a hard one to avoid, you get so used to ADS that it becomes habitual.

I have a sort of tunnel vision, where I only notice what's right in front of me and only if it's fairly close. (why I die or get close to dying a lot in Mass Effect & Borderlands.)

I reload after almost every burst or single shot. I remember in Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, there was a single shot silenced pistol. I never let the thing go. even in themidlle of the largest fire fight of the game.

Playing a lot of singleplayer games, i have used to snipe while being in one location, and staying still.
But when i started playing Battlefield 2, this was a curse. One of the basic rules in that game is : don't stay still. You never know when a sniper bullet spills your brains all over the wall, and moving around gives you a bigger chance of evading bullets.
So i have to move around a lot, snipe on the run, and if i have to, stay still for only a second.
