How can you take this stuff seriously when the date keeps changing each time it fails to happen, and the fact that people just pulled that date out of their asses doesn't help either. The world is bound to end some day or at least humanity, but no one is going to predict that perfectly hundreds or thousands of years before it happens.

Well, the 'poccylypse probably won't happen in our lifetimes, even if we do somehow discover the secret of eternal youth, I'd wager, something'll kill you off before the end of the Earth (never mind the end of the universe). Still, being prepared for the end of the world is usually a good precaution, because it means you're prepared for anything, I'd argue the term "survivalist" is pretty redundant, because if you aren't a survivalist then what are you? A Deathist?
But these people who are all like "the worlds going to end on XX-XX-XXX" and do absolutely nothing about it, especially the people who say that, then use it as an excuse not to do something. Those people deserve a good whack...

Well obviously the big one coming up is 2012. Thing of it is I do not understand why were seeing all these civil uprisings and disasters in such rapid sucession now. You would think even if people don't believe in these sort of prophecies they would at least not be stirring the pot until after 2012, just in case they are wrong. Look at Egypt for example. They claim oppression for over 30 years and they couldnt handle waiting 2 more years or started 5 years ago?

I think all this End of the world stuff is only mad worse thanks to the information digital age. In secounds we can learn about mass dieing of an animal to large wildfires then something about natural disasters in secounds. Truth of the matter is these things happen all the time but its been hyped thanks to the Internet and General Human Hysteria.

Much of the 2012 lunacy seems to revolve around either a rogue planet or solar storms and sometimes galactic alignment, but all three share the view that their particular brand of rampant idiocy contains the answer to global warming and climate change.
Yes you see, the planet is *naturally* warming up because of the sun/rogue planet/galactic alignment and our release of Co2 is just great for the flowers!
How convenient! I guess we can just burn all the goddamn coal now ... How brilliant that this "discovery" is happening right as global oil production is peaking and all eyes are turning towards coal and tar-sands. Guess we don't have to worry about the environment after all, yeehaw!

It's not proven that it is due to us that global warming is occurring, there are a large number of high-profile sceptics too. That it is happening is undeniable, that it is down to us releasing increased quantities of CO2 is debatable.maxibonito said:

I think it's all a bunch of crap, the world was meant to end in 2000, 6/6/06, 2012 and apparently 2653 (not sure where I read that last one, I think it was an article on Nostradamus and Doomsday predictions).
I've seen an interview with a Mayan and even the Mayan said it won't happen.
All the crap that's been said about it is highly unrealistic and has been disproven.

Okay, first of all we all know the 2012 doomsday is rubbish, What really happens on 2012 is called total planetary eclipse, simply put, the planets are gonna be in a straight line, a few big rocks are gonna blot out the sun for a while, but it's being done by planets instead of Luna this time.
also, if my sources are correct the world has ended 38 times since I was born and I'm only 16.
And as for the second coming thing You didn't see god, it was a hallucination. Also, the bible was written by humans, even if there was supposed to be a cipher for the second coming they wouldn't have been able to coordinate it.
