Since we the escapist forum community like to dissect, analyze, explain, and criticize anime about its flaws, cliches, problems etc. So here's another one.

It seems that some companies like to turn their franchises into full fledged anime.
(I'm only gonna post the trailers here)
The first one I recall is the Animatrix to tie in for the Matrix trilogy.
which is good and has similar style to Ghost In The Shell.

The the next one is Batman with Batman:Gotham Knight
Which is a good movie since Batman here is voiced by Kevin Conroy and the story is passable.

Then Marvel decided to join the bandwagon by collaborating with MadHouse anime studio and create Marvel anime with Iron Man:

Wolverine:
Which is in my opinion is facepalm worthy, I will kill who ever designed Logan here because he looks gay.
And also with plans for X-Men and Blade.

And this surprised me when I learned about that even Supernatural will also be turn into an anime.

I am not against this kind of approach as long as they don't fuck it up.
So my fellow escapists, what are your thoughts and opinions on this matter.

Edit: Almost forgot about Halo Legends:

thanks Mass B [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Mass+B] for reminding me.

As much as I love some anime, I'd rather keep them in their original state.

Can Batman: Gotham Knight be included in this. I know that various anime studios animated it, but all the stories were done by normal DC writers. At this point, it isn't even a Japanese look at Batman as a character, it's just the same stuff with a different art style.

Well, if it's well made and has an interesting story then I'm all for it. If it doesn't.. then I'm not.

But I am interested to see the Dragon Age anime Funimation is working on.

Fuck you Japan.

It's based off an Australian series of books, but it still counts!

....... *Sigh* I'm not ENTIRELY against it, but I'd like some form of...... I'm going to say logic, but I'm not certain it's the right word.
First off, I think Iron Man might actually be a good idea for anime, it's about a man in a super-suit who battles robots, sometimes giant robots, which is kinda an anime thing. So Iron Man gets the ok.
Wolverine....... no. It's POSSIBLE (Not with that design, the face is generic, the hair is gigantic and the outfit is downright goofy looking) but they'd have limited range. Like a one-season show about Wolverine's time in Japan where he met the Silver Samurai and mostly uses a katana. THAT would be an interesting anime.
But please don't make an X-Men anime. The fundamentals of the two styles clash on every level. Anime is mostly centered around epic fights to somehow "Protect the ______"(Usually world) but the X-Men series is about overcoming the racial advversity of being different.

That was kinda long, anyways, Iron Man looked cool.

Though I might be talking out of my ass so correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't understand why they have to do this in the first place.I'd prefer my comic Super-heroes drawn with a western art style and I'd like to keep my anime kept in a eastern art style.

I actually really loved Batman Gotham Knight. The style wasn't too animeish, and it really didn't have any of the anime cliches that I would find distracting, so I thought of it in the same vein as Batman the Animated Series.

On the other hand, I've been watching the Iron Man series, and I've figured out that I have a fairly strong aversion to it. I appreciate that they didn't fuck up Tony Stark in the anime, he isn't suddenly some emo kid with huge pointy hair, but some of the additions that they made really irk me. On of the trademarks of anime is to have tons of unnecessary side characters, which represent a crapload of different character architypes, which is done so that everyone watching would be able to find appeal with SOME character in show. To tell you the truth, I really hate this stupid cliche, and I really hate that it found its way into the Iron Man anime, because the small touches like this are what really tears down my enjoyment of the show.

Some things should really just be left in American hands, because some characters (like Logan), really don't sit well, being written by japanese writers, with with the little japanese touches.
first things first
yes madhouse will animate these series but the story is written from what i learned by comic book veteran Warren Ellis, there is still chance that this might come out good.

You forgot Halo: Legends

Anyways, i really don't have a problem with it, as long as it's done well, and if it's altered, at least altered creatively. I personally am a fan of most aspects of the anime art style, so i wouldn't mind seeing some of my favorite franchises turned into anime. also, it's always interesting to see someone from another culture's take on something that we created over here in the west.

On second thought "not having a problem with it" isn't the best choice of words here. I'd be very excited about it, but cautious at the same time, like i am with all remakes of things i like.

Wolverine could work conceptually, but they did a really bad job there. Other than that they all actually seem pretty decent (except the Supernatural one that I can't really judge from that trailer).

It isn't really anime if its just the same as the usual cartoons but with a different art style.
With the exception of Josh Olson who wrote the screenplay for A history of Violence, are comic writers.

That's because the West had a very heavy hand in it. Bruce Timm, one of the 2 directors, was a co-creator of Batman the Animated Series.
