3. portal- short, sweet, and to the point. it didnt expand on its story too much because it was just a puzzle game with jokes to fill in the story

2. zelda: ocarina of time- i gre up playing this game and it was perfect, i miss well balanced zelda games like they made back in the day

1. bioshock- i just love the environment, the twist at the end, and the ability to make your character play the way you like to play

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Mebbe Mass Effect 2
Assassin's Creed 2
...
Oblivion

Probably a few more all on equal value with these. Something with a good story that makes you think.

Third: Heavy Rain
Second: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
First: Morrowind
Same except that I'd change that second to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Such spectacular games...

1st: Tales of Symphonia (although four people can play it, I always go it alone)
2nd: Resident Evil 4
3rd: Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

Coincidentally, ToS and RE4 are my top 2 games, and LoZ:MM is #4, with Left 4 Dead at number 3. I should go play those again...

1) Persona 4: It's one of my favorite games of all time, has a great story, and fast and challenging combat.

2) The Legend of Zelda series: I've played all of them and I have never been disappointed. Although my personal favorite is Wind Walker, because it is an epic adventure and I like the art style.

3) Shadow of the Colossus: I just started playing the game about a week ago and it is amazing. Yahtzee's review sums up my feelings about the game.

These aren't in order or anything. I also have a lot of other favorites, as I mostly play single player games.

Hmm from the relatively recent ones

#3: Dragon Age. It brought back the old cRPG feel, even if dumbed or simplified, or streamlined like some like to say, it had some of that charm of old isometric titles with much less focus on the whole button mashing that's a common trend these days.

#2: Civilization. And pretty much all civ-likes. Currently counting days till CivV release. Good strategy game mixed with economy/politics sim i can just relax with. Turn based action means i can take as much time with it as i want. Perfect for slow pace lazy gaming.

#1: Mass Effect. Automatic points for being a sci-fi game in a world were everything is fantasy. Good RPG, good action game, good space opera with fleshed out characters, pretty visuals and plenty of gameplay time included. Plus for replayability. RPG genre needs more games like that if it want's to stay in the AAA range.

-Mass Effect (1 I guess, since I put so many hours into it. even though they are both amazing)
-Oblivion
-Baldur's Gate II (or really any of them, since they are largely similar in gameplay)

EDIT: damn, I forgot KoToR... that should have been in there somewhere. Probably to replace Baldur's Gate...

2. Mirror's Edge
3. Unreal Tournament (yea, single player)

Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason - The BEST story and atmosphere I have encountered in a video game, bar-none, just another reason why those guys in and around Russia are amongst my favourate in terms of game developers.

Red Dead Redemption - Again, excellent story that blew my mind away.

Mass Effect 2 - Not much to say that hasn't already been said, if you have a PC or 360 and don't own this game, you are a fool, pure and simple.

[small]I was going to put Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in there, but it was developed with 4-player Co-Op in mind, which kind of disqualifies it from the 'single' part of the whole thing, but it gets an honourable mention, at the very least.[/small]

1. Baldur's Gate + ToTSC + Big Picture + Baldur's Gate 2 + ToB + The Longer Road : yes, i play them as one huge game, thanks to the Big Picture mod. The longer Road is there because i can redeem Irenicus and get him and Balthazar in my party (very difficult, but possible).

2. STALKER : Clear Sky (with Complete mod) + STALKER : SoC (with Complete mod) + STALKER CoP (with a few minor mods), played as one game, in that order. Also all have the Russian dialogue mods.

3. Planescape: Torment (with a few mods from Spellhold Studios, which fix stuff, recover some unfinished content, etc.)

1 - Mass Effect.

The graphics are good, animations are excellent and writing and voice acting are very good too (though the male Shepard almost always sounds the same and Liara is way too monotonous). The worst part of the game for me are the repetitive side missions.

2 - Planescape Torment.

The world is interesting and beautiful, the writing is excellent, the characters are the best I've seen in a video game and the character customization is great. The flaws are mostly technical (glitches, some design choices etc).

3 - Baldur's Gate 2: The Shadows of Amn.

Simply a very good RPG. Can't really comment more on it, I haven't played it for a few years.

Special mentions include:
-Gothic II
-Super Mario Sunshine
-We Love Katamari
-Metroid Prime
-Portal
-Deus Ex
-Fallout 2

EDIT: Added the two last special mentions.
i'd tend to agree all in all with you, but i couldn't know about Mass Effect... sadly not in ps3...
