Firstly, n00b, I shall patronise you for making a thread that, while allowing you to ingratiate yourself comfortably into the new forum and allow for some, hopefully, friendly discussion, has been repeated countless times before by people with the same agenda, most of whom are bitching about said post.
I shall then patronise you further by giving my opinion, because, despite my own bitching about a repeated thread, it will become fairly evident that I love the look of my own opinions in print and believe I 'pwn' when it comes to personal opinion.
Fallout 3
ROME: Total War
GTA: San Andreas
Flatout: Ultimate Carnage
Vib Ribbon
1. Impossible Creatures
2. Company Of Heroes (would've been the first but it crashes too much ;/)
3. Digital Paintball 2 (it started as a mod for quake2, back in 1998, now it's a standalone game lead by one (yes, one) developer, that's making an amazing job still developing it and making the engine better)
4. Gothic II
5. Homeworld II
This game is just fucking fantastic, completely and utterly perfect. This game features my two favourite characters of all time: Tidus and Jecht, the relationship between them is always shifting between love and hate. Jecht is easily the epitome of manliness, the dude has an ultra badass sword and he's the fucking Blitz King! Speaking of which, Blitzball is fucking awesome, the game even manages to expose more of Tidus's relationship with his dad in the part where you learn the Jecht Shot, bloody brilliant! The game has more plot twists than you can shake a moogle at:
Sin is Jecht
Seymour is evil and wants to destroy Spira
The Final Aeon will kill Yuna
Tidus and Jecht are just dreams of the Fayth
Jecht is the Final Aeon
One of the Guardians have to become Yuna's Final Aeon
They decide to kill Yunalesca
Auron is dead
Tidus has to die to kill Yu Yevon and end the dreams of the Fayth
The two saddest deaths EVER! Jecht and Tidus have to fucking die!
The game has the great ending ever. The summons rise and die while yuna dances, all the Fayth statues fade as the dream ends. "Yuna, I have to go." The running dive off the airship, past Auron and Braska to high-five Jecht, it's fucking awesome!
I'll stop here because I could go on for many pages about how much I love this game.
2. Dissidia: Final Fantasy
Lots of great fanservice in a fighting game that never gets old, I've put 350 hours into this game so far and I'm still loving it.
3. Jak 3
Great gameplay and story in this one, sweet new guns and that wisecracking sidekick, cool new powers, vehicles and areas to explore and fuck shit up. Great conclusion to the trilogy with a great ending.
Jak is Mar! Holy shit!
4. Assassins Creed 2
A great immprovemnt to an already awesome game. Cool Italian accents and a bit of authentic Italian help with immersion in this one, more gadgets and women than the first and a great story behind it all with Subject 16's clues hidden around the place. Although the last fight sucks balls, the ending is awesome in a "You'll shit bricks" way.
5. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Great graphics and fun gameplay. This game makes climbing and shooting into a fine art (not actually sure what that means, but it sounds fancy, so fuck it). I loved the conversations between the characters, it's the only game I know of that's really made me laugh. Great voice work too. Stealth kills are just really satisfying in this game.
Right, well assuming no one has abused someone elses choices yet I'll jump in.
Half Life: Opposing Force I just loved it, I don't know why I've always liked Half Life games but this is by far more favourite.
Minerva: Metastatis Okay it's a mod, but again it's especially good in my opinion.
Warcraft III (Just vanilla "3")only RTS I've ever been able to get into properlly. Oh, and I love the plot.
Portal, well it had to be on the list somewhere? It's just brilliant in my eyes.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I don't really like the Call of Duty series, but this one I do like. I'd play it more but since a recent reformat of my computer I lost my level 55 account.
I have plenty more, but five is a very limited number. Six is l4d2 (london e6w yahtzee joke harr harr ) Yeah... I cheated. Sorry *apologizes with a cookie*
Total Annihilation
Morrowind
Mass Effect (haven't played 2 yet, but I assume it would be in here if I had)
Counter Strike: Source
Operation Flashpoint (the original not the pile of crap that was OPFP2)
I may have played "better" games in my time, but those are the games I spent so many hours enjoying. Final Fantasy 10 comes pretty close too, I just didn't get as much playtime out of it as I did those games.
You're right, I was just in a foul mood, I'll say sorry now.
Normally I'd just have thought "Oh, another one. Oh well, let's look for something else."
So once again, I apologize.
Though I am proud of guessing the post count right.
