Here are my five (in ascending order):

5.) Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Game Cube)

I know some people favor Ocarina of Time or Link's Awakening (and I've played those and pretty much all other Zelda titles), but for me, Twilight Princess had everything going right. You play as either Link's human form or wolf form, combat on horseback is fun, there are still many secrets to get, the story is great, and it offers more advanced combat techniques that change the pace of battle. Plus, it's one of the few Zelda titles that I was actually able to complete (damn you, Water Temple!).

4.) Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)

This is where I'll loose a lot of the FPS crowd. I personally like games with a story (debating whether it was good or not is another thing entirely). I enjoy the pacing and storytelling of the game, as well as the balanced shifts on platforming and combat make it intense and exciting. Also, the multiplayer, which is a TRUE parkour-style shooter experience (suck it, Brink) is what got me into multiplayer matches in the first place.

3.) BioShock (PS3)

What drew me into BioShock was the story and the environment. The combat, exploration, and multiple choices to be made in the game is what kept me interested. Before BioShock, I was very uninterested in FPSs, but after getting to rumble against a Big Daddy and taking on hordes of Splicers, I soon found Battlefield, even the CoD series, interesting.

2.) The Lion King (Sega Genesis)

Aside from it being the SECOND game that I ever owned, I truly enjoy this game. It was a fun little platformer that had you playing as Simba as a cub and later as an adult lion, while taking control of Timon and Pumba from time to time during mini-games. The game accurately followed the film, having each major scene/event as it's own level, while still bringing something new to the table to have the game distinguish itself as a game. This was the era where games based on movies didn't suck and was more than just a cheap cash-in. I could have also mentioned Toy Story, but that game was a lot more difficult and inconsistent (still followed the film, though.)

1.) Sonic & Knuckles (Sega Genesis)

Yeah, total cop out, I know. Seriously, Sonic 2 was the game that got me into gaming and Sonic & Knuckles was my FIRST game ever. I played that game non-stop until I completed the game (with all emeralds, no less). Aside by being on of the best Sonic titles, with it's flowing levels (tells you how you get from one level to the next) two different characters with their own play styles to command, many secrets throughout the levels, and the epic Doomsday Zone, Sonic & Knuckles was the game to have for any Sonic fans.

Aside from that, Sonic & Knuckles had an extra cartridge reader embedded onto it's top, so you could attach the earlier Sonic titles (1, 2, & 3) and unlock extra goodies (Infinite Special Sphere Stage, Knuckles the Echidna 2, & Sonic 3 & Knuckles, respectfully). Quite frankly, without Sonic & Knuckles, DLC would have been a complete afterthought back then and would be no where near where it is today.

Old School. Yeah, so old school, I still spell it with an H. In no particular order because my choices go across genres:

Emperor: Battle for Dune
Baldur's Gate
TIE Fighter
Diablo II
Quake

Honorable Mention:

Dune 2
A Link to the Past
Fallout
Lemmings
Elite
Unreal
Deus Ex

Damn... that HM list just keeps growing. I'll try to keep Deus Ex as the last one.

Red Dead Redemption, Medal of Honor (Singleplayer only), Infamous 2, Prototype

For teh fuck of it, I will give my bottom five:
5. MW2
4. Black Ops
3. Fallout 3
2. Kane and lynch 2 (Granted, I only played the demo, but that was enough to make me start feeling physically sick)

I have played so many games, some share my Top 5 spots:

1. Unreal Tournament/ UT'04
2. Oblivion / Fallout 3
3. Halo 3 / CoD 4
4. Splinter Cell 1, 2 & 3
5. Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear
6. SWAT 3 & 4

Ironic, as I disliked Splinter Cell: Double Agent onwards; disliked Rainbow Six: Raven Shield onwards; felt distasteful about Fallout: New Vegas; wasted time with Halo: ODST; hated Unreal Tournament 3 and I absolutely hate CoD 5, 6, not fond of 7 and already despise 8.

Prepare for much hate for that one, old chap... (though not from me, I haven't played it yet). Though I'm curious as to why FO3's on that list and yet JC2 is in your top 5. I'd have them swapped on the basis of levels of boredom... *shrug*

OT: Uh... swear I've done top 10's and top 5's a couple dozen times before, but what the hell:

In no real order:

KotOR
CoD:MW
R:TW
Deus Ex
AC2

Very close runners up include:

FO3, N:TW, AC:B, Prey, Timeshift, DoW and probably a whole load of others...

5: Call of Juarez: The Cartel (Mainly because of Co-op. And after playing Homefront and Duke Nukem Forever, it suddenly becomes heaven.)
4: WET
3: Uncharted: Among Thieves
2: Kane & Lynch: Dog Days
1: Dead Island.

And, now, a bonus: my five worst. You're welcome.

5: Minecraft (Spent eight hours punching trees building a house, only for a giant green exploding penis to run up and blow it up. Fun times.)
4: Too Human
3: Duke Nukem Forever (Granted, I did only play up to the Hive, but it was enough to make me cry in the corner.)
2: Rogue Warrior
1: Homefront (Just... So... Bad...)

Mine would have to be, in no particular order,...
-numbered list snip-
Kinda negates the "in no particular order" if you put numbers next to them. Looks like a ranking.

<color=darkgreen>1) Persona 3 Fes

Still holds the title of Best Persona game (to me at least). Better characters than 4, and I enjoyed its story more. Plus I liked being able to carry any and all the weapons types (except for guns and knives) so Minato to me is a much better playable character than Souji Seta could ever be. Though I/S was highly intriguing the first time it came out. I think had Minato Arisato impressed himself on me as a character, and had I not seen the connections between Junpei/Akihiko and my friends Jake/Ryan (respectively), I/S would be sitting here.

Which is a shame, cause I dont like to have games of the same series in a list with such a low content number, otherwise you would have P3F, P2 I/S, and P4 sitting probably 1, 2, and 4 (again, respectively).

<color=blue>2) Pokemon White

I could say the main pokemon series and just call it a spot, but I like to be specific. Having started with Blue, then going to yellow, then being able to eventually afford all the games in each generation (though I skipped out on FR and Plat.). The mystifying grasp that pokemon had on me when I first opened it in Blue was great, but the way White could draw on all the previous mechanics and advancements the gameplay had taken from the previous iterations of the franchise, and then making it seem like a brand new, yet slightly familiar story plays heavily in its favor. the characters in this game seem to have the most depth since red going just by the games. And the drastic change in landscapes between this and black make it seem like a greater difference between the two other than the occasional different pokemon and fighting a different legendary. The natural forest setting sets this above Black to me, because I enjoy that setting more than the industrial cold feel Black held. And White Forest (IMO) beats out Black City.

However, you cant really discuss the new games without giving the nod to waht started it all, so If you take away the mechanics ad all that jazz, I'd probably say it would be a tie between White and Yellow.

<color=red>3) Legend of Zelda: Windwaker

One of THE games for my GC, and in fact one of THE games for me (hence why its in the list XD). I had played other Zeldas before, and while they were impressive and nice, Windwaker just... it had something. Maybe it was the sailing, where you could sit and sail across the seas for hours and have a nice relaxing break. maybe it was the look, that cartoonish cell shading that didnt seem childish or out of place but gave it the light and airy mood. Maybe it was the music, maybe it was the characters, maybe it was Ganondorf himself (and the feeling of accomplishment you got from beating him). i dont know what it is, but so far, no zelda game has recaptured it for me, even Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

<color=indigo>4) Custom Robo (for the GC)

One of those little gems that seemed to fly under the radar, if it wasnt Windwaker, Custom Robo was in the disk slot. Its by no means a mind blowing game, and mech games had been done before and since done after. The story was predictable, it was linear, there wasnt a ton of story replay value. The last guy could genuinely be said to be OP'd, and once you found certain combos you could pretty much blow through anyone.

But despite all that, it just seemed to hold em. I enjoyed playing with each Robo body and using their respective abilities in any strategic way i could. I enjoyed building a robo to fit me and my play style. I enjoyed being able to create any play style, whether i want to be the quick light striker, the burly tanking wall, the suicidal haymaker thrower, I enjyoed it all. Even now, I still enjoy popping it i the wii, booting up my go to combo (Javelin body, Flame Gun, Wall Bomb, Satellite Pod, Ground Legs if anyone was curious) and just sitting back and enjoying the game. Its always struck me as something of a shame that only two Custom Robo games made it here to the states.

<color=gold>5) Soul Calibur III

Arguably the best and last good Soul Cal game, SC III always struck me as the best. The cast was great, the ones brought in didnt seem arbitrary, and you didnt have that nonsense of version exclusives. The supporting cast was great too, and its a little sad such characters as Luna, Abelia, Girardot, and Chester didnt carry though. Though that can be attributed to a lack of Chronicles of the Sword type mode in SC IV (something that caused SC IV to take an unfavorable opinion and a sign that the series had reached its peak and it was going down hill [becoming increasingly obvious as SC V just rolls along]). Plus, this was the first time you could create a fighter, and is so far the best CaS system.

So yeah, thats my top five. theres a lot of games that just didnt make it, but easily could on another day I suppose.

3.Ar Tonelico Qoga (my most loved J-rpg)
4.Disgaea 4 (favourite grinding place)
5.Final Fantasy XIII (very good J-RPG that i enjoyed immensely)

Mixed bag in this thread. Lots of lists I would never share if they were my tastes, to say the least.

Anyways, in no real order:
-Diablo 2
-Divinity 2
-Demons Souls
-Star Wars Galaxies (pre-cu)
-Mech Warrior 3
