I can really only think of two names, although there have been classic comedians on just for laughs. I will say Mitch Hedburg is my favorite, and many others are ties.

1.Brian Regan- I like is clean humor, not many comedians are able to pull that off.
2.Daniel Tosh- Funny dude, that's all I got.
3.George Carlin- Another funny dude. Yeah.
4.Ricky Gervais- Maybe because he's British and I'm American, but I find him funny.
5.Mike Birbiglia- I like how he seems to be 'that' guy who has bad stuff always happening to him.

I have seen three of those live this year (no cookies for guessing it's the ones who aren't dead). Those are my favourites at the minute but there are others.

There are many funny folk who don't do so much Stand up these days, they use it as a vehicle for other things. Russell brand for example, is a really funny stand up but annoying prick everywhere else.

Man this is hard...Doug Stanhope, George Carlin, Kat Williams, Mitch Hedberg, gotta have someone British, so Russel Brand or Eddie Izzard.

Don't think I can really number them exactly. Also really like Ron White, Dave Chappelle, Joe Rogan, Russel Peters and Lewis Black.

Though, are you specifically looking for stand up comedians? There are many funny folk who don't do so much these days? Russell brand for example, is a really funny stand up but annoying prick everywhere else.

I like your taste in comedians, but honestly I can't really see why so many people love Bill Hicks. I think the stuff he is saying is true, he's clever and everything, but I don't really laugh that much at what he says. Doug Stanhope can make me cry with laughter, but Bill Hicks just seems to be ranting more than making jokes out of it.
Oh well who knows.

And yeah, i agree on Russell... He´s funny on stage and in some movies, but he´s not the kind of guy i would enjoy having a beer with.... or thats the impression i´ve got at least!
