Mine are easy -

1. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - My absolute favourite game of all time, massive world, deep in content and insanely complex, in a good way of course. The plethora of mods available only make it better. I have spent literally over 1000 hours on this game.

2. Jet Set radio Future - One of the first games I played on the original xbox, I fell in love with it. Unique graphical look, fun gameplay, amazing soundtrack and cool characters. It's one of those games you should really play to see how awesome it is.

3. Alundra - This one is a bit obscure, but it's an RPG for the PS1 in a similar style to the old top down Zelda games, except way better. Very, very hard with lots of puzzles. Fun combat, lots of cool new weapons and awesome characters with a gorgousely detailed world.

4. Spyro 2 - The original two Spyro games are amazing, but no. 2 edges it for me because it introduced so many new things. A cool hub world setting, good characters and awesome boss fights. I played this so much when I was a kid.

5. Cossacks: European Wars - The only RTS on my list, it is the greatest RTS I have ever played. You can literally have an unlimited number of troops on screen, all individually controlled and animated. This leads to battles in the thousands. Set in the 17th and 18th centuries helps, because that is a period of history I love. It is 2D, but looks really good and the sound effects are awesome. Expect games to last lots of hours.

5. Super Mario 64
It was one of the first games I every played and still one fo the best.
4. Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 2
When I first played the multiplayer beta, I hated it. But after playing the single player demo, I fell in love with this game.
3. Fallout New Vegas
I did not expect this game to be better than fallout 3. And in my opinion, it is.
2. Mass effect 2
Just loved this game, no other words needed.
1. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
This is the only game I have invested over 200 hours in, simple enough.

Honorable mentions are Infamous, Dragon Age Origins, and dead space

5. Goldeneye!!!! Campaign was legendary!

4. Halo: Reach!!!! Campaign was ok for a non-down-the-sights-call-of-duty-shooter. Multiplayer and Forge and Theater make Halo great.

3. Mass Effect 2!! Great DLCs! Majestic Story! Addictive characters! Ridiculous replay value!

2. Final Fantasy VII!! Grand story, massive and long-living fanbase, great conflicts, epic offshoots, great characters! ridiculously long, but hey, its great at it! just up the graphics!

1. Zelda: Ocarina of Time!!!!!!!!!!!! Long history of epic bodasity! Truly Legendary story, conflict, inventory, characters, dungeons, and a beyond-epic climax with a legendary battle! oh, and its massively addicting and re-playable over and over again!

5: Spyro The Dragon 2; Gateway to Glimmer. (PS1)
My very first video game, I still play it for the nostalgia and charm it still has.

4: InFamous (PS3)
Because nothing's better than electrifying a man's testicles. The comic style story didn't hurt either.

3: GTA 4 + DLC (PS3) / GTA San Andreas (PS2)
Being both GTA titles they share the spot, depending on what I look for depends on which is better. 4 and it's two DLC packs have one of the best stories in a game ever with extra points for interlinking the three plus some amazing graphics. San Andreas has a better design and fantastic variation in locations, plus it's really fun.

2: Fallout 3 (PS3)
At times dark at others funny and a lot of the times both. My first outing into the fallout universe and it's worth it, the story of a child finding their father, the harshness of the wasteland and the scene where the Enclave storm the purifier is chilling considering what happens to James. The DLC adds nothing that much but they can be added here for extra points. (I haven't played New Vegas yet so that might steal the spot)

1: Red Dead Redemption (PS3)
Honestly this surprised me because I got this game less than a week ago and I think it's one of the best games ever. Be it the epic story, the empty deserts full of life, the random events, the dead eye, the wildlife or what is frankly the best score to a game ever (Far Away when entering Mexico is brilliant). The main reason I picked this is because when I finished the story the first time it was 5 am and I wanted more, I'd never stayed up that late just to see how a game ends and that's why it's my favourite game.

(Ok, I guess I really like sandbox games)

I would have to go with:

5: Age of Empires, because it kicked off my gaming experience and I will always have fond memories.

4: Just Cause 2, because any game where you can attach a man to a plain with a steel wire and watch him soar into the distance is just damn awesome.

3: Red Dead Redemption, this game was just so cool. It felt like the characters were actually real and the world felt like it was alive.

2: Red Alert 2, because it is the best RTS I have ever played. I must have sunk nearly 200 hours into that game and I could still enjoy it. No other RTS did that for me, not even, shock horror...Starcraft.

1: GTA San Andreas, because it is the best of the GTA series and it is just so ridiculous and fun that there is no way I couldn't put it at the top of my list.

Honorable mentions would have to go to Half Life 2 which only just got squeezed out of the top 5, Uncharted 2, Halo 2 and the Pokemon games.

1. Morrowind
( It really could have used the graphics, physics, and even AI of Oblivion. But the story, core mechanics, conversations, quests, factions. were all much better)

2. Pokemon (Any)

3. NHL (98,07-11)
Huge hockey fan and EA has really rebuilt this franchise in recent years well enough that it could contend as GotY

4. BaldursGate/BGII/NWN
All fantastic RPGs totally got me into the genre

5. Champions of Norath 2/Diablo 2
Put way too many hours into these hack n slash games to exclude them, even though I've played much better games

HM: MortalKombat series

5. Unreal Tournament III- GOOD offline multiplayer with bots. That's all I need.
4. Borderlands-I know, it wasn't everyone's game, but I personally loved it. The atmosphere, the gunplay, the level grinding, and TK Baha.
3. Fallout 3- A believable wasteland that sucked me in from "my" birth all the way to Point Lookout and back.
2. Red Dead Redemption- The most likeable protagonist in any game ever. The fantastic Undead Nightmare. That glorious ending. The most immersive video game world of all time. An absolute masterpiece.
1. Saints Row 2- The most sheer fun I've had in any game, ever.

Escape Velocity (Override/Nova) - I'm a big fan of sci fi, and it's great to just explore the universe. Buying new ships and upgrades is also very much like spending character points in an RPG, so it's doubly fun. Also, every time I try any game that's in the same genre, I always come back to EV being better. Ambrosia got it so right that they haven't bothered to make a sequel to Nova and nobody else has been able to best them.

-Honorable mention in this category is Wing Commander: Privateer, but the campaign was too short and it lacks replayability. X2/X3 might also come in if I can actually get them to work.

Unreal Tournament (2004/III) - When I originally got the UT demo with just 4 levels, I played it far more than any other full version game I owned. Buying it was a no-brainer. Since then it has still been my favourite FPS, and I doubt anything will replace it. It's in my blood, no matter how long I go without playing it I'm right back in pulling off non-scoped headshots while flying through the air.

-I can't think of anything that has almost dethroned it. Multiplayer FPS just doesn't get as good as UT, although I think 2004 is probably the best of the bunch.

Descent (2/3) - 360 degrees of freedom in all 3 dimensions, moving exactly how you like. The soundtrack is also just awesome, and I enjoy listening to it without the game as well. It's a shame it hasn't been done since, and I'm eagerly awaiting Descent 4, if it ever comes out.

-Honorable mention to Forsaken, obviously. Not like there's anything else.

Deus Ex - FPS, stealth & RPG all in one. Plus I'm a cyberpunk fan. Unreal Tournament is king for multiplayer FPS, and Deus Ex is king for single player. I'm cautiously optimistic about Human Revolution.

-Honorable mention to Klingon Honour Guard (I'm a Trekkie) and Thief: The Dark Project.

Persona 3: FES - As far as RPGs go, this is the best. The story is interesting, and it actually has a mechanical benefit to social interaction, as well as an interesting time management element with actions going on a day by day basis. It actually feels like you're playing the role. It also still has the fun aspects of most RPGs in having an interesting shortcut to make you more powerful. In this case it's all about taking on the boss battles solo.

-Honorable mention to Final Fantasy X, having played FF1 I didn't care much for the series, but FFX got me back into Final Fantasy and from there into JRPGs in general, leading to Persona 3.

Also, I have to make a shout out to Minesweeper!

Honorable mentions:
Stubbs the zombie
Really? (That's not meant sarcastically, by the way.)

I liked Stubbs and it set a fun atmosphere (detaching your arm and possessing a cop for the fucking win!), but I always felt like it never reached its full potential. I realise that there are probably limitations with what you can do when your protagonist is a zombie (and eating people to turn them to your side was definitely a cool gameplay mechanic), but I just felt it relied a little bit too heavily on the single awesomeness factor of, "you're a zombie!" The missions were usually fairly boring, the game was pretty linear (like Halo, but then again, Stubbs was a project led by a former Bungie employee), and while the "eat people to make more zombies" idea was fun, eating a lot of people quickly turned the rest of the level into more of a "let's sit back and watch the carnage" action-movie than an actual game.

Just my opinion, anyway...
The game had a fresh feel, with the music, goal, humor and the awesome dance off duel. It came after halo made the FPS become a very common area, so while it never reached its full potential it is a game I still own and will never sell.

But it was one of those games where too short is better than too long. Another point in its favor is the vehicle sections.
