I decided to make an all human team, of people who might actually, concievably work together in some way. So no amoral psychopaths like Kratos or Alex Mercer.

Team Leader - Female Commander Shepard (Mass Effect) - A no-brainer really. By far the best example of a leader in videogaming. She knows how to get shit done and kicks all kinds of arse.

Weapons Expert - Rikku (FFX)- A master of mechanics AND magic, able to dismantle even the most dangerous machina in seconds, and then combine any number of items together to create ANY desired effect, Rikku is the ultimate technomage. Even in-game she's the sole reason you're eventually able to upgrade your gear. And she can handle herself in a fight.

Muscle - Dante (DMC 1,3-4) - Not perhaps the most obvious choice, but when you need a guy who can wreck faces and kill a whole bunch of stuff, you can't go wrong with the near unkillable half-demon, physics defying, gunslinging, swordmaster that is Dante. And if you need to fight hordes of demons...

Lone Wolf - Lara Croft (Tomb Raider, any game) - An even less obvious choice than above, but it seems pretty clear when you think about it; Lara has defeated immortal aliens, dragons, the undead, genetic mutants, all manner of mystical entities, dinosaurs and even gods, and she did it all solo. She also brings some specialized knowledge to the team, in the form of knowledge of ancient cultures, languages and the occult.

Stealth Expert - Garrett (Theif) - Another no-brainer, this guy is the ultimate ghost. Where others require teleportation powers or stealth cloaks or all kinds of advanced equipment, Garrett gets by unseen and leaves without a trace purely by skill and the occasional use of a longbow. There is no greater stealth expert.

Jack of All Trades - JC Denton (Deus Ex) - Cybernetically modified with nanites to enhance his skills and installed with a dozen implants to increase his speed and strength, cloak, see through walls, become invulnerable and immune to toxins, breathe underwater AND trained in espionage, diplomacy, various combat disciplines, hacking, medicine and god knows what else, JC is an all-round badass who can find a role in any team.

There, even got a nice 50/50 split on gender roles.

Team Leader - Commander Shepherd (Mass Effect) - He's proven himself a capable leader already

Weapons Expert - Gordon Freeman (Half-Life) - Can he bring his gravity gun? :D

Muscle - Subject Delta (Bioshock 2) - Also a good weapons expert, but he has plasmids too to wreak havoc.

Lone Wolf - Riku (Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days) - Can fight alone no problem.

Stealth Expert - Corvo Attano (Dishonored) - Need I explain? Really? The man can teleport, possess animals & freeze time.

Jack of All Trades - Faith (Mirror's Edge) - ...Ok yeah I just realised I'm missing a female. I can't think of a better one at the moment :S At least she can get to wherever I'd need her... I'm just not sure she can do whatever she's supposed to when she does.

I feel like these teams are missing tech experts! Can I have GLaDOS for that??

Team Leader - Master Chief Petty Officer John-117. One of the greatest soldiers in gaming history. He's single-handedly taken out entire armies, is an expert with almost every weapon known to man, and his genetic and technological enhancements would put even Shepard to shame.
Weapons Expert - Isaac Clarke. The bastard love child of MacGyver and Elen Ripley. He's faced off against corrupt governments, insane cultists and alien zombies multiple times and has always come out on top, and he's able to build and modify weaponry and tools on the fly to suit any situation.
Muscle - Makoto Nanaya. Doesn't give up on her friends, ungodly strong in mind and body, intelligent enough to strategize and try and trick her opponents into playing right into her hands. Plus she has a big fluffy tail that's absolutely adorable. :3
Lone Wolf - Samus Aran. Gaming's first action girl, and still one of the best despite the attempted character assassination that was Other M. She's able to destroy fortified bases, dangerous creatures and entire planets by herself with no equipment except what she finds on the job.
Stealth Expert - Solid Snake. One of the greatest stealth operatives ever. He's saved the world from nuclear obliteration, complete anarchy and eternal slavery, and is able to sneak into and destroy heavily fortified instillations packed with legendary soldiers with nothing more than a cardboard box and a pistol.
Jack of All Trades - Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Legendary fighter and charmer, good at stealthy kills as well as open brawls, can detect important people and details with the Eagle Vision, and has more weapons than he knows what to do with.

Team Leader: Trevor Belmont (Castlevania: Curse of Darkness)
Weapons Expert: JC Denton (Deus Ex)
Muscle: Dorn Redbear - can use great weapons one handed. Enough said! (Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2)
Lone Wolf: Samus Aran (Metroid)
Stealth: Either Borador the dwarf rogue or Artemis Entreri (both from BG:DA 2)
Jack of All Trades: Hector - his innocent devils make him a one man adventuring party (Castlevania: Curse of Darkness)

The character from the original Unreal works as both weapons expert and Lone Wolf.

Team Leader - Batman (Batman)
Strategist, martial artists, escape artist, detective, the list goes on. Tends to be the man with the plan so Batman seemed like the logical choice.

Weapons Expert - Aegis (Persona 3)
An android created to hunt shadows capable of summoning her own Persona, Aegis is a living armory as well as a tank.

Muscle - Zangief (Street Fighter)
Because nothing screams Muscle like wrestling bears for fun.

Lone Wolf - Samara (Mass Effect)
A powerful biotic who underwent a rigorous training to become a Justicar. While fiercely bound to her code of honor she works best on her own.

Stealth Expert - Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid)
Capable of destroying fortified bases and assassinating their leaders single handedly, using only what equipment he finds on the site, Snake is the best man for the job.

Jack of All Trades - Dante (Devil May Cry)
Semi-immortal who dicks around too much, Dante has a large armory to choose from and appears to master a weapon the moment he picks it up. Also he has a demonic guitar.

Loose Canon - The Hulk

Team Mom - Glados (Portal)

Team Manager - Tom Nook (Animal Crossing)

Waterboy - Toad (Mario series)

The core team

Team leader - Ramza Beoulve (Final Fantasy Tactics) - While a strong fighter in his own right, his greatest value lies in his tactical skills. In fact, his tactical skill is so great that he is able to lead a handful of relatively normal individuals into killing not one but several demigods, each capable of slaughtering armies. In addition, he inspires great loyalty in those he leads.

Weapons Expert - Ratchet (Ratchet & Clank) - This guy can pickup absolutely any weapon and be an expert in seconds. In fact, given some time he will improve on the original design.

Stealth Expert - Richard Conway (Gunpoint) - Not only is this guy great at stealth, he commits to it. Weapons are absolute last resort; he brings only a revolver (and no extra bullets!) on a mission, and even then only sometimes. When I need someone to get into a high security area and back out with no one ever knowing we were involved, this is my man.

The Muscle - An Armored Core (Armored Core) - When what you need is simple overwhelming force nothing quite beats out a giant robot.

Lone Wolf - Samus Aran (Metroid) - Samus has her proven ability to work alone, completely cut off from support of any kind. (Screw you other M.)

Jack of all trades - Adam Jensen (Deus Ex: Human Revolution) - Adam Jensen is a skilled negotiator and technician, expert in unarmed combat as well as armed combat, familiar with stealth and effective at organizing a team. And a cyborg to boot. Adam can comfortably slip into any role I need him for at a moments notice.

Extra categories for fun!

Techie - Otacon (Metal Gear Solid) - When we need to develop new weapons, reverse engineer advanced tech or just figure out how to blow up the robot, Otacon is there to help.

The Negotiator - Phoenix Wright (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney) - While my team is primarily a military organization, often the best solution is not to have to fight. That is why we have Phoenix Wright, to win the battle before it starts. Also, when Samus inevitably blows up a planet we are going to need a good lawyer.

Commander - Otto Zander - While the team leader handles the tactical situation on the ground and the details of team interaction, it is the commander that determines the overall goals and strategy of the group.

Note: Otto Zander is a bit of a stretch, he is not actually a character in a game but the name given by an LPer to the Commander of the X-COM organization. I am letting it pass because I feel it is like naming your own character in a WRPG.

Let me just say my ideal strike team would be the Suicide Squad from Mass Effect 2. Sadly due to rule number 2, that is no longer a possibility.

Team Leader- Commander Shepard From the Mass Effect Series
Let's face it, no one like her could lead in video games. I mean she brought entire nations together simply through words. After the squad form the first mission split up she brought them all back together pretty quickly and opened people's eyes for the better.

Weapons Expert- HK-47 from Knights of the Old Republic
"Shall we find something to kill to cheer ourselves up?" Yea, enough said there. This droid is just a walking armory.

Lone Wolf- Jason Brody from Far Cry 3
You completely dismantled a pirate organization on your own. Killing hundreds and liberating not one but 2 entire islands.

Stealth expert- Adam Jensen from Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Due to the numerous augmentations he can basically do anything from stealth to hosing people down with bullets but specializes in stealth. Being able to uncover an entire conspiracy without even being detected by anyone counts for something.

Jack-of-all-Trades: Dr. Gordon Freeman. If there is anyone who is the Jack-Of-All-Trades it is him. He is the main character in the game most shooters are judged against in all aspects. Let's face it, theoretical physics degrees are pretty darned cool.

Team Leader - Commander Shepard (Mass Effect) - This guy or girl helped save the universe with one ship, a small team, and the level of charisma to be able to talk almost every sentient species in the galaxy to unite against one common threat.
http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/0/1366/2057142-shepards.png

Weapons Expert - Isaac Clarke (Dead Space) - With the ability to use even the simplest mining tool as a weapon, and the ability on make an effective killing machine in the field with only a box of parts, what else would you need?
http://www.newgamernation.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/isaac-clarke-in-open-space.jpg

Muscle - Captain Titus (Warhammer 40K: Space Marine) - Who would dare to stand toe-to-toe with a genetically modified 10ft tall warrior clad in some of the most high-tech armour and wielding some of the most devastating hand-to-hand combat weapons developed and tested over millennia? Not many people.
http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/12/123441/3438905-3.jpg

Lone Wolf - Noble Six (Halo Reach) - Noble Six was the last line of defense on Reach, albeit not by choice, slowly becoming the last remaining member of the entire team, the guy even had a mission dedicated to this category. Noble Six did eventually go down, but not without a fight, and not without taking down a huge number of the enemy force beforehand.
http://static1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110410161528/halo/images/2/2b/B312.png

Stealth Expert - Kasumi Goto (Mass Effect) - With her active camouflage module, and hacking skills, Kasumi has pulled of some of the largest and high-profile robberies in the Mass Effect universe, despite only a select few people knowing of her existence.
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v9RJ7aLijJI/TaXr9ew0AGI/AAAAAAAAARE/OitQNmtM_N4/s1600/Mass%2BEffect%2B3%2BKasumi%2BGoto.jpg

Jack of All Trades - Master Chief John-117 (Halo) - Genetically modified, trained in the use of almost every weapon both human and alien, and assisted by the most high-tech AI humanity has to offer, the Master Chief is suited to almost every situation and can pull of any objective.
http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs22/i/2007/326/0/3/MASTER_CHIEF_AND_CORTANA_by_victortky.jpg

BONUS: Sharpshooter - Karl Fairburne (Sniper Elite 2) - Making shots from long range is difficult, making shots from one side of a city to another even more so. Point out a target, and suddenly its head explodes in all of its x-ray slo-mo beauty.

Team Leader - Big Boss (Peace Walker time period)

Weapons Expert - Cipher (Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War) - assuming he has his plane or he is likely roundly screwed.

Muscle - Matty H (WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006) - unbeaten CAW from a game I only stopped playing last year, didn't even give him 100% in every stat.

Lone Wolf - Laurie "Athena" Elliot (XCOM:EU) - as lone a wolf as you dare make any squad member in this game, sniper built with overwatch and reaction shots in mind.

Stealth Expert - Corvo Attano - Blink is the perfect mechanic for a stealth game.

Jack of All Trades - Joel (The Last of Us) - could almost go with Ellie here by the end of the game but I wanted the team bookended with beards. At this rate only one member definitely lacks a beard and one may be a sentient plane.

Honourable Mention:

Team Leader - Chris Stone (Freedom Fighters) - overthrew the Soviet occupation of the USA leading squads of up to 12 (12! on the PS2!) blowing the crap out of the red menace in NYC.

Haha. This will be fun. But don't expect mine to make all that much sense. I'm just messing around.

Welp, here it is.

Team Leader - Headsprouter. There are reasons...
Weapons Expert - Dingodile. I think he knows his way around a firearm or two. Emphasis on fire.
Muscle - Heracross/MegaHeracross. Have you seen that base attack stat? He's adamant!
Lone Wolf - Doomguy. He don't need no help.
Stealth Expert - Daniel. Well, he got through Castle Brennenburg.
Jack of All Trades - Monica. She's cute to look at, and I don't remember her having any weaknesses. She can turn into monsters!

Team Leader - Ramza Beoulve: the protagonist from Final Fantasy Tactics - if nothing else the man can lead a team, not to mention he can turn himself into a lot of different forms of badass
Weapons Expert - Axton: Borderlands 2 - come on, the guy carries around his own portable turrets
Muscle - Khem Val: SWTOR - giant musclebound alien who works as a tank and eats force users (including jedi and sith masters)
Lone Wolf - Sephiroth - yeah i know he is a "bad guy" but he fits very well as far as i am concerned
Stealth Expert - Sarah Kerrigan: before going full on bug - she was a named ghost who were the terrin stealth experts, of course she is better than normal, she has a name
Jack of All Trades - Kirby - he can eat and adapt, perfect
