Before I start this, I just want to say that If this is against the rules or something, my bad.

But, I wanted to see what you at the escapist thought about PETA and what they stand for.

I personally believe that PETA is over-extreme with their purposes. I dont believe that they are right at all, but even if they did want to get their point across, they can try it in a less terrorist-like way.

I am among the many on this site that agree with you at least partway, though this thread's been done before.

It's not that animal rights aren't a good cause to champion, but the way they do it is like demanding a balanced budget during the Great Depression: There are bigger things to worry about and their practices are counterproductive.

They are extreme. They don't share the same morals as other people and I think it would be better if they accepted that and lived their own lives instead of talking about what's right and wrong in a world where the definition of those two words are more blurry than... something blurry.

3 Riding a horse is bad.

I'm the founder of a rival organization called PHAT. People for Humane Animal Treatment... We're like PETA, but I just made it up now, and we're not as crazy. We don't kill stray animals like they do...

We accept that eating meat is not only healthy, but necessary. We do, however, feel that animals that aren't going to be eaten or made into clothes need to be treated well... Animals that are going to be turned into a consumer product, still need some level of respect in their treatment, as they are giving their life to become delicious om-nom-noms and warm clothings for us humans.

No, throwing paint on people's expensive clothing is not okay, and if someone ruined something I was wearing, I would fucking skin them alive and use their hide to create a new coat.
