I'm the founder of a rival organization called PHAT. People for Humane Animal Treatment... We're like PETA, but I just made it up now, and we're not as crazy. We don't kill stray animals like they do...

We accept that eating meat is not only healthy, but necessary. We do, however, feel that animals that aren't going to be eaten or made into clothes need to be treated well... Animals that are going to be turned into a consumer product, still need some level of respect in their treatment, as they are giving their life to become delicious om-nom-noms and warm clothings for us humans.
Hey, I'd join that. Especially if we went to war with PETA.

I haven't seen anybody post the people eating tasty animals thing, that really irritates me. Not that I like peta but it's so overused when it comes to this topic it's getting dumb. Anyway, I did a thread like this a while back and PurpleRain did two. Basically, people are appalled, don't like them and wish they would back off and relax a little. I'm sure that people will disagree but overall, that's the view. Please, tell me if I'm wrong.

PETA supports criminal activities. Not sure, but I think they have an ecoterrorist group associated with them, as well.

You should make a user group for that, I like the name.

Anyway, my view of PETA is much like everyone else's, like the idea, not the way it's done.

I know we'd win in a popularity contest.

In the words of Drew Carrey "PETA can blow me."

They're just an elitist organization trying to implant their distorted views onto everyone. They seem to place the rights of animals above the rights of their fellow human beings. Anyone that values a housefly's or a cow's "rights" above the actual rights of their own kind are assholes, plain and simple. Fuck you PETA.

Animals should be treated well. PETA is disgusting. And all of their leaders are stark raving mad.

Idt PETA hands out crazy badges when you join, the members that go to meetings and sit in the corner stroking dr. evil type cats and plotting the downfall of the fur and meat producing industry are the ones that everyone hears about.

Not a real fan of PETA when they go over the top on animal rights, but I have to admit that they do quite a bit of good in the world. As it stands, the reason why most of the laws against animal abuse is even there is because of PETA, so I'm not against them in the way of hating what they stand for but there must be a place where you draw the line.

Ensuring people don't use dogs for fighting: Excellent reason for PETA to step in!
Making sure an entire species isn't hunted to extinction: Another good reason for PETA to step in!
Keeping people from mistreating/abusing pets: A great reason for PETA to jump in and enact a penalty for the owners.
Hunting for food: Nope! I don't see it as being something a member of PETA should be involved in unless they're hunting and having fun.
Swatting a fly: Sorry to say but B*LLSH*T!! IT'S A F*CK*NG FLY!!!
=9.9= *rolls his eyes*

My problem is, I don't like it when people just go too far with it. Yes, pets and other animals should be treated ethically, with love and respect, but if the animal is your food (or a freaking pest) then there should be limits to how far PETA should judge people. It's all the people who take it too far that get my ire, and yet I consider myself a person who tries to treat all animals respectfully, but I'm not above smashing a spider (as long as it's a Black Widow/Brown Recluse or within five feet of me) or hunting deer with a friend (as long as we use the meat for food).

People Eating Tasty Animals? Let's just say I'd invite a FRAGMENT DELETED DUE TO OFFENSIVE CONTENT before I'd invite a FRAGMENT DELETED DUE TO OFFENSIVE CONTENT for tea.

Anyway, I like animals, and I like eating animals. I think they go overboard with their policy, since animals provide necessary sustenance that you cannot get elsewhere. And they're tasty.

There are already a multitude of threads reagrding PETA, I would recommend if you want to know The Escapist's general opinion on the group, to visit one of these threads and read the comments for yourself, it should answer most questions you have.
