No animals should be harmed!*

*Only cute or tasty animals need apply.

Yeah I have nothing flattering to say about PETA, so I'm going to let this one go.

There are already a multitude of threads reagrding PETA, I would recommend if you want to know The Escapist's general opinion on the group, to visit one of these threads and read the comments for yourself, it should answer most questions you have.
Or, I could create a thread myself to see more current opinions of people that may not have posted earlier. And then, just maybe, people could respond nicely or at least with a simple "This thread has been done before, but I will answer it anyway" attitude. Not a freakin forum nazi attitude. :p

I agree that animals shouldn't be abused, beaten, etc. but the PETA are absolutely insane.

I haven't seen anybody post the people eating tasty animals thing, that really irritates me. Not that I like peta but it's so overused when it comes to this topic it's getting dumb. Anyway, I did a thread like this a while back and PurpleRain did two. Basically, people are appalled, don't like them and wish they would back off and relax a little. I'm sure that people will disagree but overall, that's the view. Please, tell me if I'm wrong.

Good idea, poor execution.

Yes, animals are cute.
No, throwing paint on people's expensive clothing is not okay, and if someone ruined something I was wearing, I would fucking skin them alive and use their hide to create a new coat.

I swear to god I would.
I agree with this. The fashion police should even drop their investigations into potential Hawiian shirt wearers to deal with these people.

I think PETA is a cruel heartless corporation. They murder thousands of animals a year, protest for the stupidest things, lie, fake their facts constantly, jump on any statistic before they do any personal research, and cry wolf all in the name of defenesless animals. Those bastards get free taxes too. Millions of people who love animals donate to PETA in hopes that their dollar will go to helping some poor animal that'll just get the gas, instead of donating money to local organizations that could better help animals in need.

PETA makes animals suffer in more ways than one. They're an atrocity.

Nearly everyone is going to say that PETA is just a bunch of insane people.
And they would be right. :0

Or they aren't hypocritical, animal-murdering terrorists and we're all just horribly confused.

Their entire organization reminds me of a toddler. They don't like something... so what do they do about it? Scream, cry, throw themselves on the ground, knock shit over and be a general inconvenience to everybody else. They might have a valid point, but they're not taking it anywhere or doing anything worthwhile with it. As long as we ignore them, they will continue the hissy fit. A sensible, gentle but firm guiding hand is what their cause needs, but not what it wants. I don't think they understand or accept the concept of gradual change, and just try to get things done as quickly as possible. And that's usually only possible through violence, ironically.

"Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."
That sounds absolutely disgusting. Why would you drink another someone's breast milk? Maybe in their sick colony, but not anywhere else.

First of all, I was very respectful to you, and did not insult you or anything of that nature. I simply tried to help you by pointing you to threads that already have many user's opinions on the subject matter you are presenting. They are all current, within the past 6 months I believe. If you want to know what people think, wouldn't it make sense to read their opinions? Especially P-Rain's thread, which was very good.

Secondly, on this forum we prefer you to necro threads and not repeat them. It is clearly stated in the rules, so there is no excuse not to know this. Just by searching "PETA" I came up with at least a dozen threads. Do you generally want to know people's opinions, or are you more interested in YOUR thread doing well, because that's what I am sensing.

It's the same reason I wouldn't go making a "What do you think of America" thread, because it has been done to death. If I really felt the need to comment, I would find one of the hundreds of other threads and bring it up, as per the rules of the site. I was nice about it, there is no need to bring "Nazis" into the discussion, right? I mean, nobody here is commiting systematic genocide of millions of people.

I believe that animals should be treated decently - including the ones that go on to become food. You can be "ethical" with animals in terms of how they are raised, treated, transported and eventually slaughtered. I believe in having respect for the animals that we eat.

PETA just don't get that the best form of civil action is through reason and not through acting like a bunch of freaking maniacs. It is impossible to defend someone who thinks swatting a fly is a terrible thing to do (would they like it if I walked around in shite and then stepped on them, and then barfed on their food? I think not).

But intensive battery farming and unnecessary suffering are bad (testing consmetics for example, these days it is the norm to buy product that is not tested on animals. It just is not necessary)

Yes, because he was such an a-hole against you.

If he would be a forum nazi he would scream something about how you should go to a concentration camp.

Ahhhh, dammit. Sorry I guess. You really didn't insult me, so I had no reason to do it to you. Im just a person who creates new threads because I think that if a thread gets past 100 posts, your post wont be read. I guess it is a little self centered. Sorry *hold out hand for shake*

I'm a vegetarian, a complete and utter hippie, and an animal rights activist, but I sometimes think that people in PETA and other groups like that can take it too far. Even though I agree with them in theory, I think their methods just alienate and antagonise people, and that's detrimental to the cause. Whenever a group is militant and confrontational about an issue, people respond to that defiantly, and so they actively reject the animal rights message if it comes from people who act like jerks about it.

They need to have more of a sense of humour about themselves. Like that 'making vegetables sexy' campaign. That was funny. I loved that.
