Mindjack

Where else are you going to find a game with a fascist military regime so inept that they built robots whose sole job is to SHOOT THE DIRT 4 FEET IN FRONT OF THEM, AND NOTHING ELSE?

Oh, and the gameplay is terrible too. (It also crashes. A lot. I suspect the game is based on the same buggy piece of shit game engine that was used to make Front Mission Evolved.)

Sadly, Brink altho it was something new with the parkour system and the "online storymode" the game was just too short and boring, with almost no content watsoever and no online matchup. THe game I regret most buying ever.
Yah, dear god what where they thinking? The parkour system only really shines through with the light build and even then the funnest thing is to do the parkour challenges. Actual in game use of it was frustrating and annoying.

Dungeon Siege 3, me and my friend played it and we thought it was a cheap rip-off from Diablo with worse controls, gameplay and graphic...I brought it and returned it all on the same day.

Dead Island- an underdone, poorly designed buggy mess.

And too think it showed such promise...

EDIT= Though Mindjack & Brink are probably worse Dead Island is a personal regret.

Another vote for Brink.

It promised so much, but delivered on so little.

The only game of the year I've regretted buying, so it's my worst.

It has to be a toss-up between Call of Juarez: The Cartel and Rugby World Cup 2011.
My bro thinks the Rugby game is terrible, but he keeps on playing it. He also wanted to buy Call of Juarez but I told him about the reviews, which put him off lol.

The thing is that people are saying their disappointed with these games, but none of them are "horrible" by any means, not DA2, not L.A Noire, not Terraria, these are just games you don't like, none of them are objectively shit.
NO game is 'objectively shit'. Not even Big Rigs is. Determining the quality of an experience is a necessarily subjective endeavour. It's perfectly fine to think any of those titles are the worst of the year.

I'm sorry. The misuse of the word 'objective' makes me sad and gassy.

OT: For me, the worst gaming experience of the year has been Dragon Age II.
Sorry to hear about your flatulence. But, oh Reginald, I disagree.

A game that fails to accomplish what it clearly sets out to do is objectively bad. A game, or song, or movie or TV show that only regurgitates what has been done elsewhere, and not even in a competent way, showing a fundamental lack of understanding for what made its uncredited source material work (see Blink 182, Linkin Park, Michael Bay) is objectively bad. If you can articulate what makes something work, using tangible elements and not just on-paper ideas, then you can go about making a fair assessment of its value. Subjectivity will always be involved, but My Little Pony, for instance, is objectively more intelligent and thoughtful and original than 90% of children's programming. Unfortunately, it is only all of those things marginally. The value of Animaniacs! vs. Garbage Pail Kids is tangible. That doesn't necessarily make Garbage Pail Kids completely worthless (it is), but it does make one look silly when trying to argue that House of the Dead (the godawful movie, not the godawful game) has as much artistic merit or more as There Will Be Blood. The only sort of argument that could be formed asserting that House of the Dead has more value is the sort made by people who admit that they don't want their brain challenged by their entertainment. Kind of removes one from the debate when they say that.

I guess he hadn't emphasised the 'thus far' bit enough then.

O.T. Duke Nukem Forever, or whatever shit Techland have released this year so far.

Marvel VS Capcom 3. It had so much promise, then they made it a boring, small, uninteresting, fighting game that they replace withing 5 months. It had few unlocks, and those unlocks being extremely easy. And now they are making what the game should have been less than half a year later.

I played Brink during the free weekend it had a while back, and actually enjoyed myself. It was just too scarce on content to warrant buying.

Besides that, I can't think of any bad games I've played this year.

Hmm for me it's Terraria. I just got so bored so quickly. I no it's not a bad game (it's probably a really great game for a lot of people) but I just don't see the appeal.
And no it is almost nothing like Minecraft.
I love Minecraft, I get bored of Terraria very quickly. Obviously they are not much alike.

Actually Big rigs is so bugged that you win no matter how bad you do it as your opponents can't finish the round because they either stand still or stop before the goal. It's basically a game that doesn't work at all so as far as game goes this is objectively bad.

OT: I think I will go with Homefront on this one. I like the game, but it's the worst game I can think of right now. I guess my 2011 game purchases have been good to me.

I want to say Crysis 2 because of the way Crytek turned my favourite FPS into a console FPS with severe lack of gameplay abilities and respect of the canon left by the original, but every time I start playing it I'm having fun. It's incredibly frustrating to go from fury to joy in a matter of seconds while repeating this cycle every fucking minute.
