Worst game was brink, but to be honest, it wasn't that bad. It was a few things that could and should have been avoided that killed brink. For one, the servers, they got better, but never really acceptable, and then if people can't play online well, give them balanced bots. The enemy AI was super smart, but the friendly was mega lazy. I don't care that this was supposedly to give the player the biggest role, this was a massive mistake, especially when unlocking some of the weapons depended on modes where you had to co-operate with bots.

The most major thing was only having 20 (now with free dlc to make it 25, I think) levels in multiplayer. The main thing to keep you playing multiplayer was unlocking skills and customisation, but they really should have spaced it out a little more, or even better, added more. Once you get to level 20, You can repeat it with another character, but that's it. There's not even any reward, even COD's prestige mode gave some small gift to the player, even if it was just bragging rights, an extra loadout slot, and a couple of customisation features. If you want us to play through a multiplayer character again, there has to be some reason to do so, especially seeming as it took so short to get to level 20, that it never provided any real accomplishment.

Difficult Question.
I guess Dragon Age 2 was the most dissapointing game of 2011 (I didnt played Duke Nukem 3D).
I don't think that it is the worst game of 2011 in general but i do know that it is the worst game, that i bought.
But i only bought Dragon Age 2, Shogun 2, The Witcher 2, Dead Island, Terraria and a couple of games that were not published 2011.

I'm kind of torn between "Hard Reset" and "SPAZ".

Who's brilliant idea was it to make a meaty shooter without actual meat in it? Also it's infuriatingly frustrating due to being cheap. Most upgrades are worthless and due to very limited availability of upgrade point you're pretty much screwed if you picked the wrong one (plasma mortar and grenade launcher are a must for example, so is a railgun later on).

With "SPAZ" it's mostly just bad execution and artwork. That game's just ugly. It doesn't control well at all too, the action is too fast for such a small window of view. All kind of problems with that game. A very good idea behind it, but who cares if the execution is this poor.

Mind you, these assumptions are made on a list of games I personally played so far this year. Hadn't played Duck Nukem F (Duke being transformed into a duck pretty much is an accurate description with F standing for "F*** to the fans"), as it looked unimaginably bad.

I haven't played many games this year and L.A Noire was the only disapointment to me. To say it's the worst game of the year would be harsh, as it was functional. I don't really care for story in games that much and I found the gameplay pretty lacking. I felt my input as a player was pointless and I didn't get much satisfaction from piecing clues together. I couldn't understand why someone would lie, even though they could easily see you rummage through the evidence right in front of their face. Chasing, shooting and driving all felt like filler content and I didn't have much fun. But It wasn't bad and i'm sure there have been worse this year.
It became an exercise in patience as you kept having to start over because you couldn't tell when they were lying. I didn't play more than a few hours.

When I think back on it, it reminds me of one of those $10 jewel case games you can find at Wal Mart from the "The Adventure Company" that I gave up on over 10 years ago.

As for the question, I don't think I bought anything that came out this year yet. Skyrim will be the first followed by Skyward Sword.

I take that back, I bought Dragon Age 2 and Pokemon White and like neither one of those but Dragon Age 2 was worse only because I expected more out of it than I did Pokemon.

Let's see... new games I bought in 2011...

Portal 2
Bastion
Terraria
Infamous 2(haven't played it yet, stuck on bus mission in Infamous)
Disgaea 4

... no regrets so far. Can't say I've played a bad new game yet this year, lucky me I guess.

EDIT:

I suppose out of that list the one I like the least is Terraria. It's not bad at all but it's the only game in that list I have no interest in replaying(can't say about Infamous 2 yet obviously), at least until the 2.0 update comes out then I might give it another go.

I'll agree with Duke Nukem forever.

I waited for it, really wanted it, wanted to force myself to like the new one...I played it the day I got it, and now I can't convince myself to bother playing since. Its so bad I don't want to play it...and thats bad.

That was the biggest disappointment for me this year. It's really the only thing I've played this year other than Stacking, Duke Nukem Forever and Minecraft though.

I'm still waiting for a single-player demo of Homefront but my expectations are several feet below ground. I wasn't expecting much from Duke and was pleasantly surprised by what I got out of it. Dragon Age 2 was just a huge disappointment. I hated playing as a human and I didn't like how they turned the RPG into a beat-em-up with RPG elements. Also, I was really put off by how EVERY male EXCEPT Varric wanted me to bone them. I expect the only way to attract the women would have been to play as one but I never got that far.

Almost. The sad thing is I had to choose between that game or Deus EX:HR. And HR lost. Or won. I don't know.

Sure DE:HR's gameplay was fun. Mostly. But the game just started falling apart after the halfway point. The characters were bland and one dimensional, the gameplay itself was one-sided and biased towards stealth players who like hacking everything, the energy system pissed me off after a while, and the the story just became a mess of "who is that guy" and "why are they doing this" and "who is the bad guy and why are they the bad guy." The endings also sucked and were a waste of time. In fact, that's what I found the game to be. A big waste of time. At least Dragon Age 2 had a conclusion that made sense and was at least somewhat satisfying.

I'm going with Homefront. I didn't even have the willpower to tough it out and finish it. I just stopped at mission 3 I think; I had had enough of that boring trash.

My biggest let down would have to be Dragon Age 2. I was so disappointed that the sequel to one of my favorite games from the past few years was so...bad. But unlike Homefront, I did tough it out and completed it. Shit ending though, so wasn't even worth it.

inFamous 2

The only games produced in 2011 that I've purchased so far are Dragon Age 2 and inFamous 2 and I loved both of them. Though DA:2 was better in my opinion.

Of games I've purchased in 2011, the winner goes to Command & Conquer 3. Nothing terrible about the game itself, but it definitely shows its age when put up against Starcraft 2. I've heard C&C 4 is even worse, but I've not gotten around to playing it yet.

Mindjack. Worst game ever!!! Worse than The Cartel, worse than Brink, and even worse than Duke Nukem Forever. It is the worst game of 2011, hands down. You see a copy of it at your retailer, destroy the case!!!

How original. You're not cool or funny just because you don't like CoD.

OT: I'd have to say...well....TF2? It did just go f2p, and it is constantly updated, but the UBER update added so many terrible items, and too few good ones. Oh yeah, and the soldier eating almost every unlock, and the Enforcer still exists, and the Dead Ringer, and the heavy is overpowered as fuck....I could go on.
bahahahahaha
cry some more, you know the great thing about terrible items, you can choose not to use them. And the heavy isn't op as fuck, scouts snipers spies hell even other heavies can take them down no trouble. This is more of a case of you not being able to use the other classes well.
I think the problem was less so about the items themselves, but how many were released so close together. TF2's gameplay thrives on developing hard counters against classes. With so many items thrown at people at once, working out those hard counters becomes a mess.

When they were doing class updates, it was fine. Each update gave one class new guns, and then the rest of the time between updates was spent working on how to counter those new guns. Then the next update would come, and they'd do it all again.

Things only started going sideways around the time of the Engineer and Polycount updates. The Engineer Update was a nightmare to play through, because he got so many new items it wasn't funny. And before the kinks were worked out, suddenly BOOM. Polycount update, which gave everyone new guns, making counters insane to work out.

And it just hasn't let up. There are way too many weapons in the game right now, and it will take forever to work out the class balances since more weapons keep getting distributed.

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. But only the Arcade Edition part.
I payed 1440 Microsoft Points to unbalance a pretty well balanced game. Phooey.

Though they are re-balancing it again soon, so I guess it won't count as my vote for worst game for much longer.
