A flamethrower would be a great tool for taking swarms of zombies and reducing them to smoldering ruin. Large crowd of zombies, just one burst would probably be enough to light them all up. Unfortunately flamethrowers don't have unlimited ammunition, so as a backup I'd probably go with a trusty Quarterstaff, its a great weapon for holding your ground and would give you enough range to whack them down before and behind you while you're still out of their reach.
I LOL'd at the flame thrower. I always thought it was amusing that the dead can be hurt by fire. They're dead. I imagine that in a real zombie apocalypse fire of any kind would turn zombies in to walking flames of death. Who needs chargers and tanks when a hug from a melty face zombie will do just nicely. :p

Though I do give you props for the most area effect damage that doesn't involve exploding something (shrapnel tends to hamper the living's ability to keep on living).

Give me an auto-shotgun complete with backpack of ammo, a spiked mace with leather wrist strap to prevent dropping it, and a 10 shot 9mm of reasonable size and a few clips. If I still don't make it out alive, that means there are a fuck ton of zombies and very little else left on the planet.

I don't need 3 weapons, just equipment.

Sharksuit and gloves, crash helmet, and brass knuckles.

If that counts as 3, great. I'm sorted.
If it counts as 1, seeing as only one of those is actually a weapon...
Put me down for a reinforced baseball bat and a glock as my side weapon.

Oh, and if I could, I'd get a V for Vendetta mask to wear underneath my helmet.

Seriously, I don't see why people are so pro-melee, if you get infected via their blood, slicing one open right infront of you is a horrid idea, some blood will get on your face, possibly your mouth/eyes, then you're fucked..
blades don't require reloading, or extra weight for ammo. that is about the only reason that I would carry one.
You know, the 'Quote' button on the original post is the easiest way to do it, you missed the ] on the first 'Quote'.

And yeah, guns have drawbacks and blunt / blade weapons require far less work and tend to be more reliable. Still, I'd be the type to sit as far away from the zombies as possible with my Rifle.

A SA80, the most accurate combat rifle currnetly used, with a 4x scope and the choice to use full or semi auto. The perfect weapon to pick them off from afar (where all zombies should be shot from) or for spraying closer if you have too. Uses 5.56mm ammo so shouldn't run out. Small so easy to carry.

Glock, all purpose, small, easy to handle, easy to find ammo for, hard to break.

Crowbar, multi purpose, smash skulls, open doors, nice and light and easy to carry.

Stealth and guile are the best weapons against the undead. Make as little noise and commotion as possible. Never engage within grasping range. Avoidance should always be the first choice.

M1911A1 for a sidearm - reasonably powerful and fairly wieldy as far as I know, unlike the clunky and over-rated Desert Eagle. If I needed a more powerful sidearm I'd go with a .357 or .44 magnum revolver of some type.

Primary 1: Any rifled shotgun, preferably using box magazines rather than a tube magazine to make reloading faster. The deer slugs would pack a great punch and potentially keep going, unlike buckshot that would more likely stop. (As a side-note, buckshot actually doesn't spread anywhere nearly as much as most games would have you believe - they are still quite frighteningly lethal at a 75 meters away)

Primary 2: not too sure, though I'd like something with decent range, so a low-magnification scope and high velocity would be useful. Any kind of reasonably powerful hunting rifle I guess, or a battle rifle if I managed to get my hands on military equipment.

You will notice a distinct lack of melee weapons. Hitting things with the butt of a rifle or shotgun or something is actually very dangerous as well, but there's problems with blood splatter and I'd quite like to avoid using a weapon that could get me killed without ever having to have a zombie lay its hands on me. This is assuming we're talking about the 'infection' type of zombie, of course.

If we're talking about the 'magic happens-to-anyone-that-dies' kind, then I'll happily replace the rifle with a mace or some other blunt weapon - they don't require being kept sharp.
You and I think uncannily alike.

I would definitely agree about picking them off at range, but as the motto goes 'be prepared'

and you would probably be surprised with the amount of blood that happens when an appendage gets severed. it is less than you think.

Flame thrower, it is good crowd control, Halberd/ Naginata if they get within 5 meters of me, side-arm would be... anything that is available, I don't intend to use it... an uzi doesn't count as a side-arm does it? If so then I want it and it will be used.

Flame thrower uses petrol, which will not exactly be hard to get if everyone is dead. Not for the first few months before it evaporates anyway.

Halberd or naginata gives good range and cleaving power with no ammo limit.

Uzi is small-ish, accurate at up to 250 meters and has a good rate of fire.

Where are the zombies? I need some entertainment.
