Death by ammunition depletion.

Melee weapon is a must. Crowbar is my choice: multi purpose uses. Little heavy though I guess but the versatility makes up for it.

And that's just the first four pages of results.

Machete or (katana if available). Gotta keep a rock in your pocket for sharpening though.

Likely either a M1911 .45 ACP or a 9MM of some variety. Thinking down the road, you'll need to reacquire some more ammo and those calibers are some of the most common.

Finally, (and because you didn't stipulate dual-pupose weapons were not allowed) I'll go with either the M-16 or M-14 variant of the M-203 grenade launcher. Bandoliers of 5.56mm rounds, and pockets full of 40mm grenades for use in a pinch.

A M9 Beretta as a Sidearm (9mm)
A UMP-45 as the primary weapon (SMG .45 ACP)
And a Kali Sword for close encounters (about 2' -2' 4" tall sword).

If I'd have these things and know how to use them properly, then I'd be confident enough to say that I have a high chance to survive.

.300 Remington ultramag so I can kill them as soon as I see them, machete, and longbow.

5.56mm rifle like M16, AK-74, AR-180.

light recoil for rapid single-shot or controllable full-auto
light ammunition, can carry a lot
high capacity, thanks to narrow base diameter
accurate,
powerful enough

The only slight problem is 5.56mm rifles command a premium mostly due to their perceived value. But this is my ideal choice.

Crazy, unrealistic options aside (you really don't need a .50 cal Action Express to put down a zombie, let alone would you actually be able to wield one with any success) I'll take

-9mm Beretta for ammo capacity and reliability
-H&K MP5 for light recoil, good handling, and full-auto capability
-some kind of grenade or fire bottle system for handling large groups

And as long as we're dealing with unrealistic options, why not wear a full suit of steel armor? I doubt a zombie could bite through that.

I would go with something along the lines of an M1 Carbine, and if I had access to it, a morningstar or kukri at melee distance.

For distance, you want a solid weapon with accuracy and range on your side, you don't want to waste ammo either, hence the semi-auto carbine. For me though, the battle comes down to melee range, you only have so much ammo. The morningstar is a powerful weapon for zombies because of its smashing power and spiked portions, the kukri on the other hand, focus all of its kinetic energy into the slicing due in part to its uniquely shaped blade, thus allowing it to go through limbs much more effectively, the only problem with it is that it is a dagger and thus has a very sort range. Other options I would consider would be a tomahawk (only really reliable when aimed at the head) or a halberd (possibly too awkward to use).
