It's gotta be getting powercut while saving. It's happened to me twice, and I had more than 30 hours on one of them, a fucking 100+ on the other. Happened over two years ago and I haven't touched the game since.

that feeling you get when you cross an empty area, praying that someone doesnt have the sniper rifle. also when youve just had an intense battle and your sheilds or health is regenerating, youre hiding in a corner, hoping someone doesnt round it and finish you off.

hearing a 12 year old snob screaming racial, homophobic, and swears in this headset during a online game.
That's pretty much everyone online game ever then.

Worst gaming fear, me in a 1v1 with my dad in HL1. I hated the crossbow sound after that.

Since it wasn't mentioned on the first page:

Losing my save data.
This would be it if I it hadn't already happened, but it has, my external hard-drive where all my gaming related programs are kept started smoking in a pungent smell sort of way. When taken apart it was found that the whole thing had melted.

MY, I forgot how common Hydrophobia was in video games... I suffer too. Just got Banjo Kazooie, the shark in TTC frightened me too. Also the long swim to free Clanker in his Cavern (Shudder)

A personal fear is that of playing a game and not noticing how much time has passed. Like I start a session at 10.00 AM and notice later that it's dark out. Then I save and find I've fused to my chair :p. I do that sometimes...

Silent hill, when you hear that siren blaring and your radio begins to crackle and to top it off your sure your can hear the all to familiar sound of something metal being dragged across the floor, all the right ingredient's to make the famous chocolate trouser pie.

Oh and in homecoming one part when you walk up to a little doll and this child's voice whisper's 'Behind you...' turning around to find a smog inches from your stupid curious face because you had to go play with the dolly. -.-

Timed or quicksave-less game. I fear all games will eventually have this damned features...

It scares me more than any archvillain, fullgore scenario, or Ringu-like background noise.

Playing an RTS online, as silly as that sounds. Since i'm no good at them, I can usually see defeat coming miles away, which doesn't help when i'm trying to plan a strategy that doesn't end with me getting a nuke rammed up my arse. I usually just play against the AI, build a base and sit there watching a modern day version of the Battle of the Somme.
Wooh, someone like me. I personally hate online RTS gameplay, with the exception being Dawn of War (I want DoW II but my computer sucks), so I play against the AI.

I like longer battles rather than 1 minute...2 minuteRUSHRUSHRUSH BLARGH YOU HAVE FAILED. And there's so many rushers online...

Oh, and I suck. Which everyone I face online doesn't.
